This video was very sad to watch, that was a mature great white kept in an empty small enclosure! I'm surprised it even lasted 3 days. Despicable of them to even attempt it
Poor thing. I thought it was common knowledge that they couldn't be kept in a holding tank. I'm not even a fisherman or a shark expert and I know it so... An amazing creature.

So sad. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see a great white (from a safe space!) but NEVER at the cost of the animal. Humans that think this is ok disgust me.
The record for a great white shark in captivity is about 6-months. However, it was a much larger tank and a much smaller shark. Adult great whites are completely unsuited for aquariums.
Great white are one of the few sharks that cant be contain in aquarium. They are always bumping into the glass due to some sensor issue in an enclose place. This stresses them out and they just get super depress.
IChangedMyMind but they don't there is far too many people on this planet we need a global event to half the population then we might pull together a bit better but I doubt it will happen in my time
If the shark was accidentally caught in a net, then put it back. Another thing, Not a single shark should be put in a tank with 90° angle corners. They should be in a tank with round corners. That is the first tjing anyone should know before putting a shark in a aquarium.
These creatures are highly emotional and territorial just like all predators. They require their natural habitat to feel safe and free in order to survive. Their eye sight is excellent as is their sense of smell and all. If you put them in an artificial environment they will know perfectly well it's not their home. Also, they do move a lot daily, they get a lot of exercise and are used to many forms of activity on a daily basis. Their reaction is somewhat similar to that of prisoners in a super-max facility. No windows, little to no activity and no hope of ever leaving that place. In comparison, placing a great white in a fucking giant glass box is all completely against their nature and they feel strangled, sick and fearful, they are too shocked to want to eat and do anything else and yeah...they are pissed off. Their systems give up, shut down and die. They are fish, but they are also highly emotional, intelligent and you can't fucking change 16 million years of great white shark evolution just because.
I love these beautiful creatures enough to let them live. I would love to be able to see them but from a boat not in a tank knowing they couldn't survive. It's heartbreaking that aquarium still try to keep them in captivity.
Poor shark I hope people realise that we must protect the oceans at all costs the people must shame there selfs for destroying the oceans save the ocean

Sharks in captivity like this is so sad. Great whites probably get depressed. Other smaller sharks that can handle it are one thing, but this is just cruel.
Oh wow surprise surprise it died 3 days later. Who would’ve expected a sea creature that needs to travel vast distances to stay alive would die in a small aquarium
How would you feel if you were taken from your home and placed in a room surrounded by walls with no way of getting out? Exact reason why Seaworld should be closed down and no animal should ever be held in captivity performing day after day to brainless idiots who pay money to see these poor animals do tricks for them.
yg1 couldn’t agree more, I left a comment about my dog, brought up in the country for 10 years, moved to London, died in his sleep. Couldn’t deal with leads, muzzle and traffic. Very sad.
ignorant ass comment - Prisons were designed to keep people who have broken the law from rest of society - As far as I can tell these animals are forced in here.
Okay you're an idiot...Seaworld has rescued 30k animals and is the WORLD LEADING in care for orcas and such. Also tell that to the animals saved from extinction. You're the only idiot here
I'm not a fan of sharks or crocodiles but keeping them in tanks when they were born free is abject cruelty. They are intelligent enough to realise that they are trapped and cannot escape. The trauma of this causes them to actually give up and die. It's barbaric and needs to be stopped.
That is so cruel😞 This awesome creature must have been so scared to be caught in a net, let alone being transported to a swimming pool away from everything it knows. So sad that anyone would even think of treating this creature like that. What is wrong with people? 😡
On a lighter note, I remember the Monterey Bay Aquarium had I believe a juvenile White Shark back in like 2004. I was lucky enough to go and see it. That particular shark did pretty well, and they had it for quite a while, if I remember correctly. It did so well, it got a bit too large for the enclosure and actually started killing a couple other sharks in the tank, so they let it free into the ocean once again. These stories don’t usually end well for the sharks, but that one did. 🙂
The reason is they know they r trapped and their sensory organs are being "crushed" think of it being in a prison cell, you can survive, but is it worth living
Taotaomona Loss of will to live, depression doesn't mean sadness or crying, it means lack of energy, and the shark is a constantly moving engine, lack of appetite even aggression they sometimes show is a result of their bodies shutting down, it isn't so much they do it themselves as their body isn't using all its "gears" and slowly thr shark shuts down. poor analogy but accurate enough. We think like lions sharks will be "rested" for not having to patrol such cast areas but these sharks go around the globe, you can't out a globe size range animal into a box.

After six months on display, the aquarium released the shark back into the wild after it attacked and killed two non-great white sharks that were in captivity with it. This video was very sad to watch, that was a mature great white kept in an empty small enclosure! I'm surprised it even lasted 3 days. Despicable of them to even attempt it
And on top of that it requires more resources to keep the thing alive
Imagine watching that great white eat another shark 😮
I mean, if there's one nation capable of procuring whale meat to feed a hungry great white, it's Japan.
Greedy bastards!
Poor thing. I thought it was common knowledge that they couldn't be kept in a holding tank.
I'm not even a fisherman or a shark expert and I know it so...
An amazing creature.
The human world is a ugly place. ..
Jea it is.. i am so sry that you can see it... if you learned to accept...then this world is not such a bad place... it's all about the moments... live for them...get as many moments as you could...before it is to late
So sad. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see a great white (from a safe space!) but NEVER at the cost of the animal. Humans that think this is ok disgust me.
@jacare bravo U dumb or something?
Wow ignored speaks volumes I didn't say anything about race
@jacare bravo
Yeah, I think they are.
But probably because you made it about race. Melissa was talking about the entire human race.
Maybe it's just me but I can see the sadness/confusion in his eyes.

@@rodbars the idea is pure, it's just illogical
The record for a great white shark in captivity is about 6-months. However, it was a much larger tank and a much smaller shark. Adult great whites are completely unsuited for aquariums.
It’s great to see so much positivity in a comment section regarding animals for once!
Ok
it’s a shame the zoo and the captors can’t be held accountable.
Seriously.
Great white are one of the few sharks that cant be contain in aquarium. They are always bumping into the glass due to some sensor issue in an enclose place. This stresses them out and they just get super depress.
Disgusting how humanity views the other creatures of this world
To think humans are supposed to be evolved.
Noelia Noliz most intelligent species on the planet SUPPOSEDLY

And his fins fell accidentally into a bowl of soup....
Exactly. 👏👏👏👏
Seeing him swim aimlessly around...like "where the heck am i?"
Pretty sad...
That's how i feel right now
Great shark needs open water not to stuck in a aquarium to make $ pls don't do this to them
Every public aquarium that kills one blames some unforeseen problem. Unforeseen for 50 years now that they can't survive in a box of water.
there is nothing that can be learned by studying this animal in captivity. pointless.
RIP you’ve chosen freedom!
We're gonna need a bigger tank…
Sad story. Even majestic nightmare creatures deserve to be free.
Humans are the real nightmares of this world ,cant you see? PEOPLE KILL THEMSELVES THESE DAYS

Meanwhile, humans spend their entire lives in captivity.

Duh... The poor thing realizes it's not living in its natural habitat no more. It would rather die than to be on display.
Accidentally caught in the net? Soo let's accidentally take it to the aquarium?
I love these beautiful creatures enough to let them live. I would love to be able to see them but from a boat not in a tank knowing they couldn't survive. It's heartbreaking that aquarium still try to keep them in captivity.
Go swim off the coast of South Africa ...I'm sure they'll love to see you too ...after they've tore you apart.
John great white sharks see us as seals so they not ment to attack us and its there eye sight
John I said from a boat ......
John sharks don't like the taste of us. When will you learn?
@@ashprice1123 I thought that Great White sharks eat seals. Surely if they see us as seals then they are "supposed to" attack us.
What idiot thought of putting a great white in a tank.
Great White shark captivity fail is the best proof that human can do anything he wants, he will never replace mother nature
Poor shark I hope people realise that we must protect the oceans at all costs the people must shame there selfs for destroying the oceans save the ocean
And 'Mankind' destroys yet ANOTHER beautiful creature. Nothing to see here.
Anti Vegetarians Then I don't enter its domain, unless I'm prepared for that to happen. Simple as that.As opposed to 'Man,' who is capable of destroying anything, anywhere. As the video proves.
its not possible to keep a shark like that in an aquarium
Moment of silence for the shark please. 😢
May he rest in peace

this is absolutely heartbreaking
I understand there beautiful creatures and we want to observe.. but you cant keep these fish in captivity!! 🦈
Sharks in captivity like this is so sad. Great whites probably get depressed. Other smaller sharks that can handle it are one thing, but this is just cruel.
Shark Meat, get your Shark Meat!! 20.99 with taxes.
I get it Killmonger: “....death is better than bondage” RIP 🦈
You're the only idiot here
@@airaysickle shut up you idiot
I'm not a fan of sharks or crocodiles but keeping them in tanks when they were born free is abject cruelty. They are intelligent enough to realise that they are trapped and cannot escape. The trauma of this causes them to actually give up and die. It's barbaric and needs to be stopped.
It's so well-established that they cannot survive in captivity that it's criminal to have done this.
That is so cruel😞
This awesome creature must have been so scared to be caught in a net, let alone being transported to a swimming pool away from everything it knows. So sad that anyone would even think of treating this creature like that.
What is wrong with people? 😡
It called rehabilitation and research
If it were Chinese that found the shark in a net they would have released it back into the sea......minus all its fins
I would like to see them in Ocean , not in the swimming pool.
you can see the dread on it's face. Mouth mildly open, head swiveling, it's a sign of frustration in this species' body language.
It actually died after they released it into the ocean.
@@427SuperSnake1 Not the 2004 era one I believe. The 2011 shark did apparently die though. (I didn’t see that one.)
Simple: That thing is too huge for that tiny space
Gonzalo Ulloa they have whale sharks at this aquarium....they're much bigger than great whites. It's the 2nd largest aquarium in the world

They swim even when they sleep
@@bmwbavaria3991ummm sharks don’t sleep
poor guy 😢🦈
alonso villafranco05 i just can imagine his horrible last days 😕😩😖
The alternative would have undoubtedly been the plot to Jaws 3-D.
I swear people just get stupider and stupider as the years go on.
