I cant wrap my head around designer scrunchies. Such a tiny thing made from simple materials, the cost is absolutely wild.
I love how you are so organised and get on with your topic. No messing and no waffle,so professional xx
I love too how these isn’t sponsorships that creep in out of no where: I was watching travel videos today and the one guy was trying to push like 3 products in one video without actually disclosing at all, not even in the bio. I found out as the brand was mentioned across a few videos
Same! I get bored with youtubers who waffle or go off topic
I feel the same way. I love the flow and direction of her videos.
As an avid tennis player, I admit I would have to surpress laughing when I see someone playing with a Prada tennis racket and balls. If you take any sport serious, you buy your equipment from a sport goods company and not from a high fashion brand.
Exactly! And anyone who plays tennis knows that tennis balls won't last forever 😂 So only an idiot would "invest " in Prada tennis balls 😅
@@maijam6709 Yep. Imagine they would play with Prada tennis balls at ATP and WTA 😂. The audience would never ever return them, once they landed in the crowd 😁.
Hi Sophie ! One of my friends created her designer scrunchie using a designer ribbon that came with the whole box ( it was a Dior white one and it is quite wide) . You need to sew 2 pieces of ribbon to create a tube and then to insert a thin elastic band . Greetings from Paris
I’m going to try this next time thanks
So clever!!!
I bought a pack of scrunchies from Lilysilk a few years ago and they are absolutely gorgeous and were less than $10 each.
@suzannehall5200
$10? They give them away free with everything you buy. I've got masses!
I got some Chanel ribbon and just tie it on a hair elastic
Agree with nearly all - except for the agenda cover.
What you forgot to mention was pet items: clothing, bowls, leashes & collars, poop bags, etc - the enormity and ludicrousness of the prices!!
I debated on buying LV agenda cover, but fortunately I found Filofax brand that do sell quality leather agenda covers. I paid 50 punds 10 years ago and it looks like new :)
Agreed on the agenda cover. I bought my lv agenda cover pre loved and it doubles as my wallet as there are card slots as well.
Omg my Versace socks (got them in the sale) were SO disappointing! They looked great but barely lasted one outing! 😳 I love my LV Agenda GM! It's definitely worth it for me, but I don't buy LV refills, I get Filofax ones for £11 each year. Food for thought, though. Have a great week, Sophie! 😘💕 xx
Agree with you Sophie, it is better to save up and buy something bigger (and nicer) than something small and expensive…300 pounds for a velvet scrunchie??? Why?😂 PS: love the flowers behind you😊
I have an anecdote for designer socks: When I was a teenager, there was a big department store in my hometown that went bancrupt. They reduced the prices of everything that was in the store. Funny thing is, I still have two pairs of Saint Laurent (YSL back then) socks that are in really good shape after nearly 20 years 🤣 I don't remember how much they were, but they must be under 50 Euros, since I was basically a kid with little pocket money at the time.
I appreciate the "real talk" about designer and luxury brands and what's worth the money!
My first LV purchase in the very early 2000’s was a cosmetic pouch and the smallest agenda cover. I took out the paper pages and have used it as a card holder ever since. I have carried both items almost everyday and still in amazing condition, 21 years later😊
Agreed on all the other things, overpriced crap. The tights are really pretty but no way with those prices.
I really want a vanity case and the makeup bags are gorge
i bought a vintage LV pouch, the Kourad pouch from 1997 and its literally better made than my new celine pouch
Wolford tights are absolutely fantastic. I bought a few pairs when I was a teenager. They weren't cheap at the time, but I'm 42 now and still use them. I'm very careful with how I handle and wash them. I find cheap tights ladder very easy. I have definitely gotten my moneys worth from this brand.
I’m a big Wolford fan too, best tights!😊
I have an Hermes headband, but I am a headband collector. I wear one daily and they range from drug store purchases to the Hermes. So I guess the scrunchie makes sense if you...collect them? I wouldn't buy it just because it's a designer item I could afford though. I've also used the Hermes ribbons that they use to tie the boxes as a hair ribbon.
As a person that owns the famous Gucci GG tights I second her on that point. They rip way way too easily even though I was very careful with them
Such a great video! The hair scrunchies are just ridiculous and with so many fakes I’d just rather buy an unbranded one! LOVE your top! 🤍💗
Now this needed to be said about designer junk!
The designer agenda cover is a total waste, recently I saw someone unboxing a goyard agenda cover and thought to myself how much of a waste of good money it is but I'm polite and didn't say anything about it on her video.
Another thing I feel is junk are expensive handbag charms that also look childish.😅
i'd just buy a fake .
Totally agree it's a designer junk. Brands just found an extra way of cashing in on logos. I'd rather save the money on a substantial bag or ready to wear. I paid less for vintage Chanel jackets or skirts than some of the items you showed.
I own an LV pm agenda and use it everyday and absolutely love it. It’s routine for me to check my to-do list and of course it’s quite pretty to look at sitting on my desk and in my bag. I’ve tried the Filofax refills which are inexpensive and always an option, but do enjoy the new yearly designs and stickers when ordering the refills from LV. 💕
😂 The tights always get me! Remember when Gucci released the “ladder tights”? They were like 250 or more I think!
I do have to say, if I could get a Chanel surfboard I would lol! I would display it like a piece of art.
Omg! Just looked it up £145 for those laddered tights in 2020?!!! During a pandemic where you can’t get flour or bread and spending money on what looks like old used tights even tho they’re brand new! That’s tone deaf!!
A friend of mine up cycles ruined designer shawls and stolas into hair scrunchies. So find yourself a cheap scarf second hand and you can make a million scrunchies. You can also redo a cheap puffy head thingy with the fabric.
I use my chanel cosmetic case as an evening bag. It holds a ton and I cannot tell you how often I get compliments.
Calzedonia have the most amazing hosiery and at a fraction of the cost. Seriously, I just purchased 6 pairs, one is the now trendy houndstooth, in brown. And they're excellent quality too.
Also another very good brand for hosiery is Wolford. They are a little more expensive than Calzedonia but you can find very good deals during sales or outlet (previous collections).
Thanks for continuously making thoughtful, considerate, rational & pragmatic content thats authentically honest, supportive & helpful for your viewers. It truly feels like a thoughtful & caring friend sitting down with us to give advice & offer motivation.❤️😉☺️❤️
I was told that the Vuitton agenda covers last much longer than the Filofax ones. Also, the annual refills cost less than 55 pounds. So, the Vuitton agenda covers are very expensive and thay just may be worth it. I get cheap Chinese-made agenda covers and they do not last more than three years each.
Filofax leather cover costed me 50 pounds 10 years ago and looks like new one, so I am not quiet sure if LV ones last longer...
@@kaledonia1983Mine is probably close to 15 years and it’s a fabric one by Filofax - still use it, still in lovely condition so I have to agree with you.
The little jewelry boxes are really pretty, but you can also get them from other suppliers. I collect small cases and bags in different colors and materials. Also key rings and handbag charms, but you can find them much cheaper elsewhere. With tights there is always a problem with durability regardless where you buy them. The expensive ones are not better than the cheap ones.
Absolutely agree with everything mentioned!
I even moved away from phone accessories like special lenses (anamorphic etc.), the necessary cases, microphones etc. for filmmaking.
I now solely use actual cameras (which don’t require apps, OS updates, AI workaround, constant charging).
Fragmenting what you own, focusing on specific really good items for the exact purpose and buying luxury goods that present neutral longterm value is - in my opinion - a good way to approach things.
Best wishes
I love that jumper! Too bad it's sold out. The bow detail is sweet.
I have a LV GM agenda and fill it with calendar pages from Etsy or Amazon…I love the cover and everyone at work knows who it belongs to when I misplace it!
I laughed when you said " Designer Hair Scrunchie " I actually bought a couple...paid far too much, and have only worn one of them once...such a terrible waste of money.
Lol 😂 true about the phone change up but I’m a rare case I’ve had my iPhone for 8yrs.🤯🤣.
The Aspinal of London jewelry case… or Coach… or even Kipling…do the job! And, they leave the hundreds, no… the thousands.. in your bank account!
Thank you so much Sophie 😍🫶🤍✨✨
I think the whole point is that bags can only really go up tk a certain level and all these other pieces like cutlery, sports stuff etc are trying to get people to embrace a whole luxury lifestyle. And this feeds into customers wanting to go to their restaurants and stay jn their hotels. Like the Prada and Dior pop up cafes and the Versace hotel. It's all marketing.
I know it’s not practical but I do like my LV pouches and SLGs. I have not gone overboard by buying every new one that comes out and I use my pouches and wallet on a daily basis-all are LV monogram or Damier Ébène. Most days I’m not carrying a fancy bag, usually it’s Longchamp, maybe Cath Kidston, or if I’m off on errands an L.L. Bean canvas tote. There’s something special reaching into that utilitarian bag and pulling out my LV Zippy wallet. But, you make some really good points like sporting goods and hair ties. I’ll throw in designer costume jewelry and air pods.
Another designer junk for me is Denim pants, just buy some Levi´s and you good, and for tights a pair of Wolford's do the job, designer sneakers for me are a no as well, they are very delicate, I just buy a pair of AF1, Superstar, etc
A hair scrunchie for 300 pounds is daft beyond words🙈
To spend so much on stockings - which sometimes only last one wear!!! - seems eccentric to me! Thank you for the video!
Hi Sophie ! Love this video. Totally agree with you ! OMG, few hundred pounds for a pair of designer tights and hair scrunchies ? So crazy… would definitely not buy any of these items. Like you mentioned before, I would save money and buy something with better value, probably that new CD tote bag 😀
I have the lv nano nice vanity and I personally love it. I only purchase mini makeup products bc that way I get through the product.
I’m a sucker for SLG’s! I have no idea why my wallet has to be the same brand as my bag but it does and it drives me nuts if it’s not. I just ordered a Loewe wallet for my new Puzzle bag last night. Goodbye $800 - ugh 🤷🏼♀️
Agree completely. I have an agenda cover that I did use last year and I'm thinking if I don't use it much this year, I'm just going to cut my own paper to fit it and use it as a notebook instead. I don't have to have a specific brand of paper with some logo on it. There are also some great sellers on Etsy with things to fit a variety of sizes of agendas and you can customize way beyond what the designer idea is. So that's the only one that I can say maybe to, but it really does depend on your lifestyle.
Someone mentioned Filofax makes refills FYI
I have to say I love the Celine scrunchies, they’re really meant for your wrist but they do look good in your hair for special occasions, I’ve been collecting their hats forever so it’s -yeah now everything has gone up in price which sucks
You are so right Sophie and I loved your style to deliver the message!
But I do see myself buying some designer junk in the future (for example some pet accessories, as soon as some designer makes big enough for my rescue greyhound) 😄
I had no idea if these little things out there! I do like the tights, my own stocking only last 3or 4 times out! I’m so glad I can’t get away with super trendy looks! I know my fashion demon would buy those Gucci ones!
Could not agree more Sophie!! As always, you're on point!! xxxxx
I would love an agenda to use as my recipe book for work. Although my head chef would tease me mercilessly for it 😂.
Sophie! Firstly, I love your content and you are one of my favorite channels that I follow. (My husband recognizes you when I put your videos on, that's how much I love your work!) ;)
Some feedback about the planner. I'll be the first to say that I am NOT good at keeping track of things lol. My poor husband has to constantly help me find things, BUT I bought a Louis Vuitton desk agenda last summer, and not only do I always know where it is, but I now write every single day in that planner. I get the A5 planner refills from amazon for $25 and I am sticking to my goals so much more exactly because of that planner. I know everyone is different, but for me and my scatter-brained self, that planner was worth it.
Hope you are having a fabulous day! Keep being your beautiful, fresh, wonderful self. :)
So true about the phone covers and the tights. A few years (or few days is not long enough to enjoy something. I’m a planner journaler and most lux covers fit standard size notebooks (A5, B6) or ring inserts (LV pm = pocket inserts, mm = personal/bible). We are not using dupes of LV inserts. So I have a different perspective. We are buying LV covers for our preferred planners, which are much better than any designer insert. Companies that are in the business of using quality milled Japan paper. Agree on the sports gear. I’ve had a Prada racket bag but honestly prefer the tennis brands.
Some really good insights here. I will say I love the SLGs and pouches 😬 For me, I find them to be a great way to get know a new to me house. And if I don’t love the quality, I haven’t spend $$$ on a bag. I’m a sucker for those LV Nice cases too… but I only have one. So far 😉 Love all your vids 💖 June
Hi Sophie, what do you think about the designer Advent Calendars? I've been coveting a Dior one for years, as they are so pretty; I've partly been prevented from buying one because I haven't been present in my main location for the entire 24 days leading up to Christmas. It also strikes me that often the objects behind the calendar doors are essentially samples that the company gives for free when you purchase a large item from them. I also know that although I love the boxes that contain the 24 mini products will eventually end up being discarded a few months following Christmas. What are your thoughts? (No criticism intended for people who have had these - as I said, I've been tempted too and think they are so pretty, but I baulk at paying GBP 400 or so for one).
PS Woolford tights and stockings are amazing, if expensive, but not hundreds. I still use the more expensive ranges from M&S too, they are good, Sezanne also sell some nice ones for around GBP 15 a pack. I have a dog so I have to be careful with tights and stockings as they can be ruined so quickly.
Got wolford tights when I was 17. I cared for them very well. I'm now 41. I have no idea how they are still alive, but they are. They were expensive at the time but they were really worth it at this stage.
The Chanel tights are so gorgeous, but I'm too clumsy. I can imagine quite a few outfits they would go great with too 😂
You are spot on !
Great video. I try to remind myself that every little designer thing I buy is money that could go for a bag. My one comment would be, there is nothing luxury we buy that we need. No one "needs" anything luxury.
10:00 I am sorry but I always wanted a Chanel snowboard or skiis and I will get it no matter how silly it is.
Chanel skis are the most boujie thing going to be fair! 👍xx
Valid points Sophie ❤😊!
Great video, thank you! Out of interest, what are your thoughts on the Launer London heart shaped coin purse? Happy Sunday!
Now I need Prada cutlery to flex on people in Terminal 5.
I had a Gucci phone case until it started to fall apart, I paid around 400 AUD. Cost per wear, so worth it. I loved it. Also loved my agenda. The rest I agree with 😊
So true! Better just save up for a bag!😂
The velvet scrunchie looks exactly like the things my grandma used to make me wear to church!
Good advice.
I’ll stick to buying slgs 😂 no regrets buying the ysl card holder
I agree with this video wholeheartedly. It's way more worth it in the long run to save the money for a bag (or other larger item like ready to wear) than to waste it on these really insignificant items. I did buy an Off-White lanyard for my keys though. I paid less than $10 USD for it, and I'm not saving up to buy anything at this point. (Jan Griffiths).
Love your content as alway!!
You're so right! 🎉
Great video!!!
I’ve had my iPhone 11 since 2020. Once the battery hits 80% I’m going to get the battery replaced/get a replacement. I have a ton of cases that I got on clearance. At some point, I’ll retire this one and make it a media device. I have some old Androids that I use for podcasts and Kindle. I still use my iPods I just always keep them in airplane mode.
I’d be worried about scuffing the agenda. However, if it was kept only as a home planner I could see using it.
guilty of buying the gucci tights, but i recall i paid way less than that, as i bought them when they 1st came out. however i have only worn them ONCE! as im scared to tear them lol.
Love this, xoxo
Couldn’t agree more ❤
Junk ! That's the word ! And more surprising is thag people buy it !
Those Chanel leg warmers look like the cheapest dupes…
Not going to lie. I want the Louis Vuitton dumbbells. I do strength training, and those would be a nice decor piece.
Hi sophie, definitely save for the shoes or bag although I do really like the tights🫣
I got my off white phone case for 4 dollars in an online auction! Its the only reason I have a designer one!
The reason i bought the LV nice mini toiletry bag bcus I converted it into a mini sling bag / hand held bag w my own chain fr another LV bag . It’s way cheaper vs buying a Chanel vanity sling bag that’s triple this nice bag
LOL! These things are a greedy money grab. Thankfully I have not partaken in these items. I almost got suckered into the logo tank top…had it in my shopping cart but thankfully my common sense kicked in cause a tank top is really a $25 item. I thought heck I can buy a crappy old Prada junk bag from a Japanese reseller and cut the logo off then glue it on a tank all for maybe 250 all in. Whew they almost got me lol!
Off topic question just thinking I like brand Kurt Geiger so much the quality and edginess and it is the real leather stuff 😅what is your opinion on it ?
There is no way a notebook cover would survive getting in and out of my bag every day.. if the phone case is durable it might be a good one actually. cost per time used might be really reasonable! (if you keep the phone for 2 years before switching, and considering daily use)
Great video! Fendi has some logo tights which are beautiful....but I do look at it as $$ down the drain. Too fragile - you could pull a run in them when you first put them on! No thanks.
Yes, this designer junk turned my head……..to laugh! Do designers thing shoppers are airheads?
It feels like these designer brands are so money hungry that they will put out anything, even junk.
Hi Sophie, Can I ask what is your opinion on a RIMOWA suitcase -- check in and hand carry? Is it worth it? What luggage do you use when you travel? Thank you so much!
Based on reviews, it sounds like it’s not super user friendly
I have a suitcase from Rimowa and carry on and I’ve been using both since 2011 on all my travels. Well worth the money in my opinion
Hi Sophie, do you like Marc Jacobs bags? ❤
Can you bring back weird designer items please? They were so funny.
I guarantee the sporting good items will not be as good as proper sporting good brands (eg Wilson tennis racket vs the prada one or whatever)
I don't even buy designer costume jewellery anymore, the Chanel emblem pearl earrings were the bane of my life, the amount of repairs from pearl loss was ridiculous and I am careful with jewellery the earrings are the last thing go on, so no catching with brushes or perfumes. So I stopped buying ALL designer costume jewellery as it just feels like expensive none precious metal junk
LOL we can see your ring lights in the window!
Are there any small designer items that you think are worth the money?
Most people who are buying those items don’t need to “save” for the next purchase… lol
Loved this , you forgot a passport holder 😅 I have a knock off LV one, and at the airport they literally make you pull the whole passport out. .pointless, specially if you travel every 1-2 years like me 😂
I’m still using my 6s iPhone
Do people really change their phones on average once every 18 months? I just got a new phone after using my last one for 5 years. I agree that purchasing a designer phone case isn't a good idea, but there is something else to be said about electronic waste generated from upgrading phones when they're not out of date. Even if they're recycled, you don't actually know that parts are going to be reused or not.
Nowadays, it's all junk that we don't need!
In all fairness, we don’t need designer items period.
Anyone who thinks that it is OK to pay big money for a designer scrunchie clearly doesn't see that these companies are having a laugh at you it is simply outrageous. IMO only 🤷♀ xx
That scrunchie🤦🏻♀️Believe me, I wouldn’t want it even if it was for free! 300£ for a small piece of fabric only because there’s some triangle with the name of the brand? No no no, I’m one of those people who think wearing visible logo’s is looking cheap and tasteless but this is really unbelievable.
But I am an agenda freak! 😂
I’m not going to lie I’m just not interested in £300 + scrunchies it’s just daylight robbery! XXL scrunchie co does £13-18 scrunchies which are worth it and you can see the owner looking after her staff
People buy new phone every 18 months!? 😮 Wow.
People actually switch out their phones after 18 months? My phone is 5 years old and still going strong. 💸💸💸
