  • More often than not, as a result of pre-planned engineering works and occasional posession overruns, electric hauled services would be 'topped' by diesel engines then hauled via non-electrified lines to the next point under wire. This practice has taken place for decades and became of considerable interest to enthusiasts. Filmed here in the early 1990s are examples of such workings primarily hauled by class 47 locos as they piloted the trains via the branches. The first section feature diversions on the Coventry yo Nuneaton line followed by trains between Daw Mill and Arley Tunnel.
