Betul.. Tidak seperti di beberapa area wisata. Harganya dibedain padahal sajian makanannya sama.

What is happening to me? I would actually try that. 😺 Mark, I have heard you and other vloggers call "older" people "auntie, uncle, grandma." I believe this is a sign of respect? What defines the difference between calling someone say "auntie" or "grandma"? Is a man ever referred to as "grandpa" or just "uncle" I find this very interesting and I love that it is used.
4:09 Examine your plate, the gule Solo offals parts you've eat are tripes, intestine, and lung. In Java gule/gulai rever to this offals/meat curry soup like this. In Sumatra, gulai is not a soup, more a thick yellow curry sauce, like Nasi Padang. I love how you appreciate the warmth and simplicity of Indonesian streetfood.
Mark hope you try bakmi ahong in chinatown. I can't stress it enough :). As a Asian foreigner myself, hands the the best chicken and noodle and soup ever.

Betul.. Tidak seperti di beberapa area wisata. Harganya dibedain padahal sajian makanannya sama. Pernah ngalamin kedatangan temen dr ausie kena harga makan beda padahal makan bareng dengan menu yang sama.

+Mark Wiens Well, nothing beats Thai food! I see Thai food as "soul food". I also love Korean food but not had any recently.
What is happening to me? I would actually try that. 😺
Mark, I have heard you and other vloggers call "older" people "auntie, uncle, grandma." I believe this is a sign of respect? What defines the difference between calling someone say "auntie" or "grandma"? Is a man ever referred to as "grandpa" or just "uncle" I find this very interesting and I love that it is used.
uncle or auntie is used to call anyone that is around the same age as your parents and grandpa/grandma for the elderly.
+shutup12345u thank you so much for the clarification. 😺
+JohnMike67 thank you. Very helpful.
+JANICE BALL my pleasure
Hey Janice, thank you, I think others have already answered you better than I could have. I also, really like this part of many Asian cultures.
Still, Gule is basically the lighter version of Kari/Curry

My mom make this in a Burmese style. It's so good! I'm pretty sure they both taste similar.
I used too eat there gule at Jalan Mahakam Lamandau, Jakarta... But you forget to squeeze the jeruk nipis like lemon but smaller and much sour. Squeeze it into gule than the all flavour much better.
Looks very delicious mark...
