I’m from Thailand. My home town “Trat” next to Cambodia border. We had this dessert for so many years ago. And only in my hometown I guess from Cambodia. Just now I got it from Vietnam. Wow so amazing. Also we call Bun Duc too. No one know the meaning. Thank God I found your clip. And Thank you so much. I can die peacefully. 😂

How long is pandan extract good for? Mine doesn't have an expiration date on it.
Hello Helen your cooking makes me hungry
I cannot Waite to try and make thus yummy dessert :)
send me a photo on instagram or Google + with #helenrecipes please!
Thanks!
Welcome!
it's the same as a Malaysian kuih (bánh) called Som Som but the coconut milk is mixed together with the rice flour and cook till thicken. serve with sugar syrup. It is always white in colour. Pandan knot is used to give the aromatic smell. But I like your version as it is more colourful. (Y)
sounds like it's a similar dessert ^^
Hi Helen I like your cooking show and your now looks.

Hi Hellen, I love this cake thank you for post this video , next time can you post video how to make Vietnamese beef meat ball . please ....
A way to describe pandan is (according to ol' westerner me), that it has the freshness of green apples and a light, but yet pleasant fresh taste. Even when sweetened it doesnt lose its freshness.
Cái khúc cuối chị ăn làm ng xem bị ức chế hic hic ngon woa ah :P thks for the recipe chị ^^~
Hi Helen. I love all your vietnamese food. It looks so tempting. Will it work if I don't use tapioca starch ?
Anishii Gpr you can replace tapioca with corn or potato starch
bạn ơi cho mình hỏi, có thể thay vì hấp mình bỏ lò vi ba được không?
Kannalee bỏ viba bột ko chín mềm đâu bạn
Ngon dữ >"
I like it with peanuts
hi is it possible to use pandan custurd coz it might not easy to find pandan leaves here? cheers
hmm pandan custard already has other ingredients in it, so I am not sure...
Hi Helen. This looks really difficult to do. Is there a quicker way?
thank you Helen. hinh nhu la dua ma o Vn thom hon la dua mua o day phai khong ban?
uh, rau gi ở VN cũng thơm hơn ở nước ngoài, ko riêng gi lá dứa :D
Coconut cream, syrup, and creamed corn are always good with all cold served dessert
thay = bot ngo hay bot nang cung ok em ah
My mouth is already watering lol
Hi Helen, Please clarify the amount of water added to each paste color batter: 600ml of pandan water to the green batter and 600ml plain water to the white batter? I think there is an error on your website recipe " the white batter : add 1/2 the flours amount with pandan water ?
)
You are right: 600ml of pandan water to the green batter and 600ml plain water to the white batter. I edited the recipe on the website already. Thanks for the notice.
Why do we need to steam the cake? Can we skip that step or is it a must?
Can I just do 620 ml water with 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon pandas extract Helen? ANSWER PLEASE☺️
+Tina Tong yes you can
co the dung water chestnut starch, hoac tapioca starch
Pandan pasta mua ở đâu vậy bạn?
Lúc xay lá dứa e để ít nước đc ko chị tai muốn màu đậm đậm xíu
+heocon vy màu đậm phải cho thêm phẩm màu em ạ, vì nếu lá dứa mà đậm thì bánh sẽ có vị đắng
Hello Helen, I'd like to know if I can use corn starch or potato starch to substitute tapioca starch?
Thank you^_^
Jen520K yes, for this recipe you can
Pandan to me reminds me of tapioca but almost a hint of coconut.... it is very yummy! The texture for steam cakes are close resemblance of a jello jiggler but more dense like make like a very smooth tamale. I agree ots very hard to explain a taste thats nothing like your region. But I think mine r pretty close.

Huuuft~ :(
I like your steamer. What is the brand? Maybe I can find it here in US.
Mine is from Kenwood
i'm tempted to go to germany just for the pandan leaves! i'm so jealous how you can get so many southeast asian ingredients so easily ;) back at my parents', i only had to go out to the garden for pandan! but i have to make adjustments now.
anyway, this is a lovely recipe. i think we have a similar sweet dish like this too but with the addition of glutinous rice (usually coloured red). i love it ^^
garden fresh pandan leaves are to dream for. I should be the one who is jealous!
you don't have to, my parents' place is about 12 hours flight away xD i'm in europe too ^^
srainy haha, now I understand
Since pandan and coconut are like best friend I recommend you to try pandan coconut waffles! If you live in Southern California like me and if you go to this place called phuoc loc tho in garden grove go there! It's an awesome Asian market where you get get them waffles!
check this out Coconut Pandan Waffles Recipe - Banh Kep La Dua
