- A quick look at the Waymark EMBR 60 Litre backpack. This is a lightweight backpack made from recycled ECOPAK fabrics and a premium Ultra Stretch front pocket. I will run through the features of the backpack and give a little insight to how it carried on my first 13 mile hike in the Peak District.

A decent first look at the sack bro - I like simple but functional and this looks to tick a few boxes. I always enjoy using external mesh pockets - we cram a load in/usually waterproofs. The side pockets are well endowed so to speak. Well, good going. It's worth noting for the future. Thanks. Mark
Thanks mate. Unfortunately Waymark has recently ceased trading, so these bags are hard to come by now. Such a shame as it is my favourite backpack. Really comfy, simple, yet functional. Obviously no point in me doing a full review as you can't buy them anymore. 🤷
@@trickofthetrail A pleasure there. Yeah, I did look with few results. Good you got one in before they folded. They've saved you the time now. Have a cool week ahead.
Thank you for this review! This is one of the packs I'm considering getting, alongside HMG Unbound and Bonfus Framus - I haven't had the opportunity yet to try the latter in my size, but I like that the side pockets on the Waymark is comparatively much bigger.
Hey there. Thank you, I hope you found it of some use. I will do a full review at some point. I did also look at the Bonfus Framus, but decided to go with the Waymark in the end. Having not tried it, I can't comment on the Bonfus, but I am loving the Waymark Embr. If you do decide to go for it you won't be disappointed I'm sure. It carries really really well.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good review matey, I wonder if it is as good as the Zpacks Arc Haul Ultra 60l? 😅 Good audio and visuals mate.
Thanks mate. Well, it's heavier than the Arc Haul, but a darn sight cheaper that's for sure. 😆 I also know you prefer the Ultra 100 fabric to the ECOPAK EPX200. Probably reflected in the price I guess.
Hey Mark, thank you for making me aware if this brand.. Had a look at their website and definitely look pretty good... Will be interested to hear your thoughts with further use... best wishes Tom
Hey Tom, thanks for the message. Yeah I'm looking forward to doing more miles with it, but so far I'm liking it. They have started selling some of their packs with Valley and Peak now, which is nice to see.
A nicely done first look mate - those hip belt pockets look absolutely massive!!
Really interested to hear how it works out for you going forward 👍
Really impressed with it so far. A few little negatives and will mod a couple of things, but so far so good.
It will be interesting to see how it compares to atom pac mo
Yeah, it's an interesting comparison. When I do my full review, I'll have some thoughts on how they compare. There are some pros and cons to both packs. They are very similar though.
I am thinking of going with this pack mainly because I hike with my dog and carrying all of her gear and especially her food pushes my Arc Blast a bit, especially since I plan on doing the Colorado Trail next year. I think their 50 liter pack would be pushing it a bit as far as room goes. The Colorado Trail will definitely have some longer water hauls. How has this pack held up? And are you still happy with it? This pack is on sale until the 4th of December so the price is good too. Take care
Hey Scott. Well, I've not used it extensively yet, but I did go out with it this weekend and carried just over 18kg. It handled it with ease. For me it's the best carrying pack in this class that I've tried. If I was you I would snap that deal up. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I was toying with either the 50 or 60 litre version, but am definitely glad I chose the latter. Worth having that extra bit of space and it sounds like you'll need it. 👍
@@trickofthetrail Thanks so much for such a quick response. I will purchase this pack this week. It’s 20 percent off as is all the added pockets. Again thanks, PS my father was from Scotland, it’s a beautiful country as is that entire area.
@@mtadams2009 No worries at all. I hope you enjoy it. Let me know how you get on with it. I don't know anyone else that has this pack. Waymark isn't a popular brand in the UK.
Ah yes, Scotland is a beautiful part of the world. Although I'm only over the border I don't get to visit much.
Thanks for the review! i'm in the market for a new pack but can only find the 50L for sale in the UK, where did you purchase this from out of interest?
Thanks Clair.
Yeah it's quite hard to find in the UK. In fact it's hard to find anywhere now. It seems Waymark have stopped selling that range of packs for the moment, not sure why. I've dropped them a message to see what's going on, but not had a response.
I got mine direct from Waymark, for the same reason as you, I could only get hold of the 50L version from Valley & Peak. I have noticed that Waymark do have an "On the Shelf" one available with a S/M Torso and XS Hip Belt if that's any good?
Sorry I can't be much more help. I hope you manage to get hold of one. I am loving mine.
Hi, good heads up on the pack. How do you find the back padding? Is it the 1/8 inch foam? ATB.
Hey, thank you. The back padding is okay. It is 1/8" foam yes. It's perfectly comfortable, but if you pack something hard against the back and it sticks out slightly you can feel it on your back. Whilst I've not found it an issue so far, it could be classed as a slight negative. Other than that I'm loving it.
@@trickofthetrailcheers for getting back to me. Normally take the same depth foam mat to use under my sleep pad. May try to use that as a secondary back pad somehow to double the thickness. Thanks again.
Great vid Mark - looks promising - be good to see your in depth review after you have field tested it..
whats the weight of pack?
Thanks mate. The pack weighs about 1.1kg with 2 hip belt pockets and a shoulder pocket. All are removable, as are the stays, so it can be much lighter if needed. It's not the lightest pack, but I think they've made a good compromise in weight Vs comfort. I'm out in Wales this weekend, so looking forward to using it again.
