Thousands of Americans Gather to Experience Solar Eclipse

- Inside Edition reporters were positioned from Texas to Niagara Falls, New York, where crowds gathered for the solar eclipse. “CBS Mornings” anchor Tony Dokoupil was in Indianapolis, Indiana, where stargazers camped out overnight. In New York City, Inside Edition’s Alison Hall was at the Edge in Hudson Yards. It's the highest outdoor balcony in the Western Hemisphere. The next total eclipse will not happen in the U.S. until 2044.
Not just thousands, MILLIONS
Gather as in gather in a specific location

@@keiran9114 The narrator claims that 99% of Americans had witnessed a partial eclipse. I guess I was part of the 1% who saw bupkess. eh IOW, 350+ million Americans all stopped what they were doing and went outside to view? Preposterous!
@@darrint3573 I’m under the impression that he intended to say that 99% of Americans were subject to be able to witness a partial Solar eclipse. This, if you lived in the 48 mainland states, would be true
@@darrint3573 Pretty sure it meant 99% of the country was able to view it, not that 99% of all people actually did. Like if any given person were to look up during that time they would've been able to see it.
It's so nice to see everyone happy for once! 😊😊😊
I agree! :)
Facts!
Media will be back dividing people once again in no time. It's what they like to do
It was an amazing experience, even though I wasn’t in the path of totality, a Tesla accidentally Backed up into my car hours after the eclipse 😭
@@BUSSINJUSTIN10M 😆 👀bro nooo
even though I wasn’t in the area of totality, I still got to experience the sky dimming and the temperature cooling, can’t wait to see it again in god knows how long
People have told me it’s going to happen again in 2044, but I don’t know if that is accurate or not!
@@TotallyEltonJohn yeah that’s what I’ve been hearing too
@@TotallyEltonJohnIn the US. These happen every few years around the world
The sun blocked the eclipse when I tried seeing it 😢
Every 2 or so years they’re in other countries
Seeing the eclipse is and feels like you're in both night and day at the same time! 😄😆
My entire high school evacuated onto the football field to experience it. It was so surreal and coming-of-age watching the sky change from early afternoon brightness to evening, with even a few stars poking through!
I was there with all my friends, laying on the field, taking photos, recording videos, and laughing over the fact that, for just a moment, we got to experience something that won't be coming around for a while.
Absolutely amazing.
I watched it with my family in Indiana. It was an incredible experience.
I love that the solar eclipse brought a lot of us together in a show of unity. I like how everybody was getting along with this solar eclipse
I live in Dallas, it was nice. Everybody in my university came out
It was so great!!!!!! It hard to explain it to those that didnt experience totality. It was magical.
A magical state of emergency.
It was dark.
it truly is one of those "you had to be there" things. It is magic.
It was awesome, it was dark for almost 4 minutes and I didn't have to leave my own backyard
It wasn’t all that special
It's SO cool at 2:08 how you can see the shadow racing across the clouds! Absolutely amazing event. 👀
It is Wonderful to see people cheering and having a fantastic day together!
I was in Texas it was an amazing experience I experienced 100% totally worth it ❤
It brought people together, so beautiful. Glory to God.🙏🏽
God: I'm going to make the sun 400 times wider than the moon, but also 400 times farther away from the Earth. It'll blow the humans' tiny little minds!
Glory to Nature ✨
@@SUGAR_XYLER God created literally everything, including the earth, dont worship idles
@@AdamThygerson-lm1gt Nature exists, God doesn't
Agree to disagree, first great commandment "you shall have no other gods before me." if you worship nature and the universe for "magically creating itself fro literally nothing" you will be destroyed when Christ comes again.
I've seen a video of someone witnessing it during a flight, truly a sight to behold!
It was a great experience to see! I watched from my front porch in Indiana. Was awestruck!!
It was 90% totality here in. Chicago. It was a great experience.
100% totality in my part of Texas, it was dark for almost 4 minutes
More like 80%
And no one invaded the Fire Nation smh
The moon spirit lives to see another day 😁
one thing we all will get together and agree on
It was beautiful. It was beautiful. I cried because I never seen anything like that before my life. God is good.
Marvelous down here in the Virgin Islands where I'm from I got a little dark after 1:00😂😂😂😂
didn't get to quite see totality like in 2017 but was still pretty cool
we need to come together like this more often
We do but, in sporting events... need more tho yes
I didn't experience the full totality in my city but I was able to see the eclipse happen and it was AMAZING! Just seeing the moon pass by the sun is just good enough for me to experience it!
Then afterwards miles worth of traffic
Ya took me 3 hours to go 20 miles
It was really cool.
It was the most beautiful thing i have ever seen
That must of been so awesome seeing millions of people cpme together to see this event i really wish i was there to see it
I thought it wasn't safe to see the solar eclipse without sunglasses, yet many people saw it with naked eyes
When it’s in totality dark you can
@@yadinavarro9810 Thanks for the info
You can take them off for 4 minutes of max totality
@@Graphics_Card Would our eyes be damaged if we take the sunglasses off for more than four minutes during the totality?
You'll see an update on inside edition 😂
There was only like partially 60-65% coverage out here in AZ. The sunlight did dim down a bit and I was able to see a some of the eclipse when it peaked for us at 11:20am, but man, I wish i could experience it like those people did in the video
I think everyone really needed this communal event after the pandemic ❤️
I drove from California to Texas. So glad the clouds opened up to see it.
Got to see the Solar Eclipse in my own backyard with my family, what an awesome experience
i was near totality, i had a 98% coverage of the sun and it was still really cool to see here in maine
If you went up, then you could have seen totality
@@DrAngelKins
Exactly, they missed the whole show 😂
We went a nice spot yesterday and got to see the full totality. It felt so ethereal like you're in a twilight dimension or another world. It was amazing to experience day and night at the same time! As it got dark the crickets got loud for sure 😆
My grandma watch her first, solar eclipse and she’s 84:)
Awesome experiance ! So happy I didnt have to travel to witness that ❤ Cant wait to share the story with my future grandchildren.
What....in a rush to get old
🤦♀️
Dang I see it! It was Crazy it was my first time seeing it!
So cool!
every one cheered or was in awe of this moment
I was more in awe about the fact governments were declaring a state of emergency.
It was boring
@@HighandDrunk.
Trying to tell us you were in the basement 😂
@@SUGAR_XYLER no I was driving pulled over and took a look with solar eclipse glasses and didn't really care for it
@@HighandDrunk. where were you?
I watched NASA’s livestream and it was so sweet to see everyone gathering together to have some fun and enjoy a cool event 🖤🌒
I didn’t get to see anything. There’s an overcast & it’s rainy today here in Minnesota lol
It was cloudy in my part of Texas, but I did get to see the Solar Eclipse everytime the clouds cleared
I was able to see the crescent shape of the sun over in Montana, the clouds covered just enough so I could see it without needing glasses
The amount of times she looked up at the sun without her glasses is beyond stupid and very unsafe.
When it's 100% totality it's safe to look with the naked eye!
Nope if it’s totality you can for a little bit
You can take them off for 4 minutes within max totality
The crowd looks mostly white. Disproportionately
It was so cool to see irl man🥺
i was sleeping
It was beautiful from Colorado
I'm in Texas right now and hit a sweespot, where RIGHT at the moment of totality, the clouds split wide open and everyone went crazy
it only looked cloudy where i live but it is cool what these people saw
I was able to see it in Burlington, NJ. It was really nice 👍
2 weeks prior, T-Mobile was giving out Sunglasses along with the shades to see it. It wasn’t dark like it was in other places but I’m happy that I got to see it with those shades 1 year before I turn 40.
Saw nothing clouds :(
Good thing they declared a state of emergency.
Seen it at 94% maximum from Massachusetts here 😊
I'm shocked that no mass shooting occurred during these massive gatherings.
Seeing totality was amazing. It was fortunate that it was wider for 2024 than 2017 too. The Temps dropped, the sky darkened, and we see it in all its glory for atleast 3 1/2 minutes. It shocked me half to death tho, since it was closer then 2017, which I forgot. 🙃
I live 2.5 hours from where i went to view. No traffic on the way up because i left earlier but my ride home was ....almost 9 hours. Post eclipse traffic was triple what it's ever been in NH! I've never seen this many visitors ever, not on Memorial Day, not in July, not during foliage season. Truly historic.
As a person who lives in Lubbock Texas, it got a little bit dark where we were but not too dark, because we were outside of the totality but yeah! ❤❤
But too bad I didn't get to see it, because we had to sign permission slips to be able to wear glasses? Like what, ridiculous!
And I was inside Is at work here. I miss the whole thing
Wonderful experience
I saw it in Burlington!
Thousands now have eye damage now.
It was awesome here probably cloudyfor some
Do people not work ?
A lot of people’s jobs let them step outside and even hosted events. The eclipse only lasts a few minutes…or should we be slaves and not allowed to step outside to see it LOL
Amazing to see people coming together and enjoying something natural and rare! Even tho I wasn't in the totality zone we still felt the calm breeze and sudden drop in temperature. The birds were going crazy along with my animals in my home. Super cool to see!!
It was totally worth watching. Now to go back home from a very long mile.
Today my class watched the eclipse while having a picnic (we called it an eclipnic) and we wore special glasses and for food we had Caprisun, Sunchips and Cosmic Brownies. Of course since we live in California we only saw a Partial Eclipse.
Thousands of miles for an eclipse that last for only 5 to 10 minutes...lol
Its a once in a lifetime event
Yet you won’t see it for another 20 years
@@white_genocide2050Yeah but it like darkness…
@@white_genocide2050 Not really because the average person could see up to about 8 or 9 in his or her lifetime.
U could see waves of shadows on the ground from the ferment
R.I.P to the people in Sarnia, it was barely dark
I was at work when a partial eclipse took place in my state. I was unfortunate enough to miss out.
Glad to see solar ecipse out in the wood
Lots of out of staters flew to Texas to see this totality eclipse
B-roll of The Edge, I can spot myself in corner! lol 1:39
Am jealous 😢
I witnessed totality, and it was truly the best experience I've ever had in my life. The wind felt so cool on my face and it was better than the 2017 eclipse
I was seen it,it was like the sky was on fire until some clouds covered it up
My whole neighborhood was cheering at totality.
Feels good to just be able to walk out of your house and see the eclipse 😂💀
I got to see it 😊
Dang!
Most of Iowa was out that’s already 2-3mil
I spent it in Washington Square Park.
It was an awesome experience! I wore a welder's mask during the event and it did a really good job showing the whole thing although I did make the decision to take off the mask to look at it once the moon fully covered the Sun. It was only for a little while that I put it back on. Ill never do that again.
I will see my first Total Solar Eclipse in 2026 in Spain. I can't wait.
Reminds me of that scene in the truman show
We cant denay there is God,his name is JESUS the saviour of the word and there is power in His name🙌🙌🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏
He's not saving anyone here 😂
Too bad I only saw partial it was still cool though
It was a great sight. Very orange.
It was beyond amazing! The God of Heaven truly must love us! I want to know Him more
God is dead
Still can't believe that was real
IT'S THE ECLIPSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since I couldn’t witness this beautiful moment, I’ll be going to Spain in 2026 to see it.
Or to Alaska in 2033.
Come to Australia in 2028
That’s my plan too lol.
I wasn’t in its path, so I didn’t get to see it. I am happy to see everyone having a great time though. :)
How often does this happen ?
Hi
Where i live it was all cloudy today and i didnt get to see it :(
It was completely cloudy in Central NY so i could not see the corona but it did get completely dark
I was in lake placid and it was almost completely clear until the eclipse was totally over at like 4:30. It was magical!
❤
THE ECLIPSE IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't get to see it😢😢😢
Wow
in time, our eyes will be closed for a lifetime 😢
You mean eternity...good
God great 🎉❤
