Awesome video man! I love the "no BS" stuff you're throwing here. A lot of med-student youtubers just show off and make it seem like the expensive prep-course are a MUST.
You love the rest of my videos then. Thanks for the support!
So no don’t spend 3k on the course but buy the books
I have all the Kaplan courses, I was going to order Princeton but after research and video browsing Kaplan was my choice.
i loveeee your honesty !!!!!!!!!
Thanks! It’s important to me.
Thank you! I needed this right now, lol
Great advice!!!
Thanks!
Thank you for the advice
Of course.
Thank you 🙏
Do you think you can use the 2016 MCAT books for the 2020-2021 MCAT ?
Ya those should work just fine. If you’re worried though there’s lots of people that are always selling their books for super cheap.
Liked and subscribed on the No bs channel comment😂
When you started taking practice tests did you notice gradual implement during your last month before your test?
Improvement *
Medicine Obsessed ya you want it make sure you’re seeing gradual improvement especially if your first test was under 500. If you get above a 508 you might stop seeing big improvements.
Hi Michael, thanks for the information. I tried to find the FB group but I had no luck. Can you add a link?
Hey Andy unfortunately we don’t have the group anymore. You can chat with me on the Facebook page though. Hopefully in the future we can create a strong Facebook group.
If say for example you want to get around a 520 on the MCAT if you take some practice tests before the exam and say you get a 518, 519, 515, and 520 on them. How come sometimes when you take the actual MCAT you could either get a 520 exactly, a little bit higher say a 522, or possibly lower like a 515? Is it because of nerves or is it because the actual test that is presented on test day is actually way harder then any of the previous tests you have already taken? I understand that you can’t know for sure what you will score or how the test will be on test day though. How come sometimes when people take the AAMC full length practice tests right before they take their actual MCAT and then they take the actual MCAT, their score on the actual MCAT will not match or even come close to their scores on their previous practice tests. Does AAMC make the actual test on test day significantly harder than the “practice” AAMC FL tests that you’re supposed to take maybe three-four weeks out from your test date?
Summer Dow that’s a tough question. Like you said though, during your practice tests if you get like 515-522 then you could potentially get anything in there on your actual exam. Maybe on your real mcat you face some questions that you’re less prepared for, on the contrary you could also do better than 520. Nerves can definitely play a factor. I found that whatever your practice aamc scores are about 2-3 weeks before the exam is about what you will get on the MCAT.
12YearStudent oh ok thank you for the info that really helps! Could a factor of why your score could be a lot lower on your actual MCAT test is because you have only taken about 3 of the “actual” most like the MCAT AAMC tests before the real exam? Like before that everyone uses third party tests and who knows if these tests are good predictors of your score that you will get on your MCAT. That’s what I’m still a little confused on in terms of gauging how well you will do on the real test, because the third party test scores that you get could be inflated or deflated and how do you prepare the best you can for questions you can most similarly see on your actual MCAT test if you are using third party questions that might be in an easier or much much harder context than the AAMC tests and the actual test. Since the third party test prep companies don’t actually write the test, wouldn’t their questions be asked in a totally different way than AAMC would ask them? Also regarding your statement about most students scoring in the 500-510 range for the MCAT and most of the brightest 4.0 students scoring in the 95%-100% category, do you think with copious and lots of hours put into the MCAT if you aren’t the most exceptional student that it can help you to achieve in the 520’s range or do you think scoring in those upper 520’s ultimately comes down to natural intelligence and exceptional knowledge of how standardized tests are created?
You definitely want to become familiar with how the mcat asks questions. Make sure you are doing a lot of practice problems and do a lot of “mini” exams.
