- This aircraft (LuzAir CS-TMP) flew for Thomas Cook for several weeks in the summer of 2008.
A fine example of areodynamic braking not often seen these days.

This plane was sunk in 2019 into the Red Sea to be used as a reef and diving site for scuba divers. What a good life she had!
Cool! Thanks for that :-)
@@SimonLoweAviation You bet! And thanks for the videos!
Vaya dato curioso / What a curious fact
@@mr.airbus373 Take the clown wig off, but the alcohol down, and go home. You're drunk.
@@mr.airbus373 it's a plane, calm down
So good to see an L-1011 landing in HD
Excellent footage! The TriStar has always been a long-term favourite of mine.
I miss the L-1011 here in Lisbon.
Superb video! Love the Tristars, shame there not in service anymore

If I could, I'd like this video 100 times. The Tristar might be my favorite airliner of all time.
I agree with you!
I miss L-1011s
Beautifully shot of one of my very favourite birds! Thank you Simon.
Awesome video mate... Wow fabulous shots... Keep up the great work 😃👍🏻
this is some really clean footage from over a decade ago!
Great vid! At 1:12, I thought 'what a nice 767' until I saw the tail lol
Masterpiece, Mr Lowe !!!
Amazing video man! Liked!
Thanks!
Awesome video !
I was lucky enough to have flown on one with BA in 1990 - flew on a DC-10 the same year and the didn't compare, the Tristar was so much nicer! :)
BADASS!!! I loved those airplanes. Flown twa from honolulu to lax and hawaiian from lax to hnl on those. big planes.
Like a bigger 727.. Big and beautiful bird..
The best!
cool catch
coolest of airliners!
What a beautiful plane the TriStar
Great video! Aerodynamic braking, or aerobraking is used on many aircraft. It's standard procedure on numerous fighters. It's expressly forbidden on every jet transport I've flown. Once the mains are on the runway deploy the spoilers or confirm they've deployed, engage the thrust reversers (except on MD-80/90 and a few other) and fly the nosegear down to the runway. Aerobraking is less effective than wheel braking and significantly increases the risk of a tail strike. At Delta on the MD-88 and MD-90 you couldn't select reverse thrust until nosegear touchdown was imminent since the pitch up could cause a tailstrike. It sure looked like the LUZ crews were delaying de-rotation. I sure miss the L-1011!

@@SimonLoweAviation great
It look shorter than usual.
This might be because it's perhaps a -500 variant, which was shorter than the standard -1 and -200.
