I have a question. My equation was the same (3 + 3v = 48). But, I divided 3 on both sides. Why did you take away 3 instead?
I want to ask you some questuons of word problems
the sum of two numbers is equal to four times of their difference find the two numbers.? the twice of the large number is equal to three times of their smaller number added by 4 find the two numbers?
@@ThatChickKim You could have divided both sides by 3 first. That will give you 1 + v = 16.
Then you have a one step equation. You can subtract 1 from both sides to get v = 15. SAME ANSWER

Wow this is so helpful for studying for the ASVAB. I used to hate word problems but I think I'm starting to appreciate it.
Im working on my G.E.D, i have math and science 2 pass not worried about science but the math, i study everyday for 2,3,5 sometime all day watch videos take notes a can across your page cuz of algebra word problems, i was hooked, your the reason im going 2 pass that math test on 04/11/2024 at 8:30 A.M. thank U in advance.

Can you help me to this word problem? 2 motorcycles are 200kms. Apart starts to move towards each other. Motorcycle A runs at 45kph and motorcycle B runs at 50 kph. At what time will they meet?

For doing a multiplication step in a algebra word problem, do you have to put (eg.) 7 * b= 7b or just give the answer 7b

3+3v=48
then move positive 3 to the other side(turns negative 3) so only 3v will stay on the left, hence
3v = 48-3

(L) + V= 48 so we already have L which is the earlier equation. Just substitute it.
(3 + 2V) + V = 48
Join like terms
3 + 3V = 48
Put all the like terms in one side
3V = 48 - 3
3V = 45
Note: Parenthesis is for emphasis only
You Forgot The "Gozinto" In the Division Jargon, Like 5 Gozinto 10= 2 times. It's very important!
5 goes into 10 how many times? 10/5 = 2 or 10 divided by 5 = 2.

Hello, can someone please explain to me how 3v = 48 - 3? 10:00 Why are we subtracting the 3? I understand how the 2nd equation is operated but not this first one. I'm really lost on how this first one is being solved and how Victor's age became 15.
Violet Flame sorry about that. We rushed through that part. It’s a two step equation.
3 + 2v + v = 48.
We can add the 2v and v to get 3v
3 + 3v = 48
We can subtract 3 from both sides.
3 - 3 is 0 and 48 - 3 is 45
So we have
3v = 45
Now it’s a one step equation. We divide both sides by 3.
45 divide by 3 is 15
So we have v = 15
I really like your videos but this was confusing to me as well, alot of moving part, with a noted step left out. :-(

@@roncallahan40 If we want to work towards isolating just the " V" by itself on the left side of the equation, then firstly we need to cancel that +3 somehow..…
Takeaway 3from both sides will cancel that 3. (Very important that we need to take away the same amount from the right side too!) This leaves us 3v=45. Divide each side by 3 and we successfully isolated the "V" by itself. Which is V=15. That's what it is! (It could have been named X instead of V, it would still be the same.) I hope this helps!🙂

@12:41 how did you get 42 for the cow. When all you did was add 1 to 4 to get 5. So from there how did you get 42? You didn’t really explain how you got that. Someone please help
divide both sides by 5 to eliminate 5 in 5c. Then 210 divided by 5 equals 42 so C = 42

so you were not clear how you get the 5 in the last question to makeit 42, how did you do that?
It became 5C once she added the (4C+C). The equation at that point became (5C=210)
You simply then divide 5 into 210 and come out with the answer 42 for "C". Hence (5C=210) or (5×42=210).
