Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I crack a joke or two. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

So Charlotte funny story. My husband and I (both in our 70's) were in Sam's Club last week. As we were walking out you have to stop and an attendant looks at your groceries and matches it with your receipt. She says, "Wow, you guys created a huge line behind you!" I quickly said, "Oh you didn't know. We're Influencers and these are our followers." She started laughing and I did a runway walk out the store. My poor husband didn't have a clue what I just said which was even funnier. 🤣🤣

The one about the "influencer" wanting a free portrait hit home, tied in with the calligraphy. I used to do, (and sometimes will still do for friends), hand drawn event cards, this is with pen and ink, not ball point pens, but an actual quill and dip ink, and colorize them, I also do calligraphy, 5 different fonts. 5 years ago, I submitted a card for use as invitations to the Witches Ball (Halloween party for Pagans), it did not make the invitation list, but they wanted to use it to make posters, (with a few added changes to the wording). In order for this to happen, I had to purchase larger art paper, and some inks, because it was going to take a lot of colorization. In total, I spent over $250 in inks, $125 in different quill nibs, $100 in art paper, (they wanted at least three versions to choose from), plus for my time and effort, and three different versions $650 per drawing., under$2500. Since it was July, there would be a limited time for them to accept, since I had order for 20 Personalized Halloween cards. For the one they accepted, would be $650, the other 2 would be 1/4 of that. (nothing in life is free). They accepted, and we drew up the paperwork, was paid half and half on delivery. I completed them first week September, as promised, the woman who signed the checks was not in, but would get it in the mail by Friday. week 1..0 check week 2...0 check, she would not return my calls. I t wasn't until just before Thanksgiving, I found out, they used all three artwork to make posters and sell them for $150 each, and were still selling them in November. I finally took them to small claims court. They had someone remove my signature from the original, and tried to say this was not my work, but someone else's. I brought in pictures, and a video of me doing them, as well as a copy of the first payment and the agreement. 6 months later I won and was awarded $1300 for the other two, +3/4 of the profit for each poster sold, and an additional $25,000 for compensation of the alteration of my works, and potential loss of future sales. Karma worked it's magic!

I don't do calligraphy but I have a pretty cursive handwriting that takes me maybe 0.5-2 seconds longer to write a word than someone who finishes the same word in a normal (or bad style) and on a website where people asked if we could post our handwriting, a girl got mad at me and said "I fucking hate that cause of people like you we still get forced in school to learn cursive" and I was like: "Come down, its just writing" and she was like: "Yeah no, writing is not supposed to look this fancy" and I was shook cause no mather how hard I try to not write in cursive I just can't and so this is how I write on a daily basis... but aparently having a nice handwriting is not liked anymore ... oh my and of cause, if you can do it, than people will no mather what, be unhappy about it, no mather if they just can't do it themselfs or because it's harder than it looks like ... Imagine I could write in a way fancier cursive than the one I use and than show it to people as my "daily" handwriting ... oh jesus

"Influencers" should realize this: When you are influential enough the businesses will come looking for you. When you go asking for free stuff that's not being an influencer, that's being a beggar. The worst kind of beggar too. The scammer beggar that really doesn't have a need, but just doesn't want to work.

It seems to me that these influencers that ask for free stuff sabotage themselves. Who is going to want to work with someone that started out begging instead of working hard to get where they want to be. If they start off expecting handouts who is going to think that they'll later put in the work to get where they want to be. If you start out being lazy and thinking everyone owes you then that's how you'll always be seen. Put in the work and stop begging it doesn't look good on anyone

I do different styles of calligraphy, and it's NOT just writing. I started learning calligraphy when I was in high school and all through college. I was very good at it and always received A’s.
In the past, I have done regular calligraphy wedding invitation envelopes for my sister and a few close friends for free. When I did my own, I addressed all my invitations in very intricate lettering, which took quite a bit of time. A few months after my wedding, I was contacted by a girl who was someone's “plus one” at our wedding, and she informed me she was getting married. She asked me in a lovely tone if I would address her invitation and return envelopes in the same lettering I had done on my own. I told her I could, but I would have to charge her since the lettering is very tedious and time-consuming. When I informed her of this, her tone changed into one of anger and profanity. She screamed at me and cussed me out because she knew I had done other invitations for free, but I told her the reason why they were free was due to the type of lettering I had done and also because the people were family and close friends. This made her even angrier, so I had to endure more profanity from her until she told me she would learn to do it herself, and her invitations would look way better than anything I did, then she hung up on me. A few months went by, and one of my husband's friends showed me the invite he received to her wedding, and it literally looked like a six-year-old had written them. The writing she tried was typical simple calligraphy, but hers looked like regular letters with added slashes. I never laughed so hard because I'm sure for the money she paid for classes, I could have done her invitations.

From a business standpoint, if a person has 10k followers -- even 100k or 1 million -- and only 2 of them live in the area the business resides, why would any of that matter? Story time for any media production graduates: Fresh out of college, I got my first "gig" editing 3 music videos for a local band. At first I wanted to charge but they managed to talk me into doing it for free (they're small, local, don't have the money, blah blah), and they said they would provide the footage. What they provided me was footage from ONE live show shot from two different cameras and some professional photos. I contacted the photographer to remove the watermarks on the photos, as I was making a music video and she said no (so frustrating). Anyway, I made a kickass lyric video using a 3D effect on the photos (which kinda lost it's effect with the stupid watermarks) with snippets of the live show thrown in to keep it entertaining.
That took me about 30 hours to make, probably more. They loved it and asked for the other 2 as per our agreement. After the frustration of editing the first one, I now demanded payment. Even $8/hr would suffice. I also needed more footage/photos/anything. They had nothing else for me to work with and told me, "even just text on a bank screen would work." I promptly told them, "then why don't you do it yourself?" and never spoke to them again. Always know your worth, even if you're fresh out of college, that's still your time and talent going into something.

Just had a similar discussion with a coworker about a month or two ago. She's been into making prints for shirts as a side hustle. Her boyfriend's mom asked for her to make some for some of her family in California. She emailed them, got their approval on a similar design because what they originally wanted she couldn't find a good template for our something. Either way, they agreed to the design and the price so she made these shirts and sent them along with her boyfriend's mom when she went to California. She finds out that the family members don't like the shirts and are refusing to pay, but they didn't return them either and allegedly threw them away. I don't think she has the money to sue them, but I told her she should've. Because she had the proof that they agreed to the design and they agreed to pay, so either they had to pay her or return the shirts, they can't keep the shirts, even to throw away and not expect to pay. She put time, effort and money into making them and should be compensated.

I dunno. I used to stop once a month at this little gas station store in a small town. Usually I would buy $50-$80 worth of gas, a big soda maybe a bag of chips or a chicken box, other stuff. I usually paid cash. One day I only wanted a big soda and nothing else and I forgot my pocket cash so I went to pay for it with my credit card. Now the soda was overpriced there. Every other small town has a CircleK where the soda's are $0.99. At this store they are $2.49. I didn't care though as it was a nice little town and convenient to stop in during my travels. I could easily go on to the next small town but like I said I liked the little store, in spite of the overpriced sodas. So I didn't have any cash, and I owed the $2.49 + tax. I hand the girl, who I've seen there for years now every month, my credit card. She says, "It's a $5 minimum for credit card." Turned out I actually had almost $2 in change in my truck, but she wouldn't take it for the soda, wouldn't charge my card unless I bought things I didn't want. She offered no recourse. So I effing left the big gulp on the counter and just told her, well you get nothing then, now or ever again. I don't think she cared a bit. Now I usually get gas, a drink and chips 'n stuff the next town over and it's cheaper.

I think most people balk at the price, not so much because they don't know about the amount of work, but because most people don't have a lot of extra cash to blow and most people just really don't need stained glass and extreme quality handmade blades and the like. People with the spending money will buy what they want. The rest have to buy what they need and the extra spending money is rationed. Someone has to really be into stained glass to spend big bucks on stained glass if they aren't just rich and money is no object. So people see it, and they know it looks good and they want it, but they balk at the price becasue they can't afford the luxury, not because they don't think it's worth it. I'm sure there are some, of course, that think that, but even most of the loud mouths talking about how it's overpriced are just butt holes that wouldn't buy your stuff even if they had the money, which they don't.

No luck. She just stared right back and flatly repeated that I was short 1 cent. There were like 4 people behind me in line and no one offered to help, so they all waited while I had to run out to my car to get the single missing penny because she also wouldn’t cancel the order. They all just stared at me as I can running back in and handed it to her. It was so embarrassing at the time, but makes for a funny story now! You know how "influence" a hotel?
When you check in make sure you're already a points member, be extremely nice, and make sure you slip in a 100$ bill with your ID at check in then smile and ask "are there any upgraded rooms" tip again if the answer is yes.
Make sure you tip everyone(even staff you don't have to)and don't act like you're doing them a favor. Just be polite and insist they take the tip because they're working very hard and don't ask for anything in return.
This always, always works for me(I'm currently in a hotel on my memeber points). This ensures if you do travel alot and you frequent the same hotels or chain of hotels you're on record as a good guest which means you don't act like an influencer, treat the staff like they are people not servants, and known for tipping well. People will want to give you various little perks because they know you're not some abusive Karen or influencer.

These people blow my mind. I have a decent following on my Instagram and I love to buy from small business and post about them. I was so suprised when one of my favorite companies made me an art piece for free ( I didn't ask it was a complete surprise ) I appreciated her so much and in her note she said the gift was because I understand how much natural support means to small businesses like hers.

I had a teacher that took a calligraphy course in college so every time she wrote notes for us to copy down she was always using it. It takes so much longer to write in calligraphy. Lol

I wrote in calligraphy one time and never did it again. But it wasn't because I'm lazy and it takes effort, lol 😆

My High School English teacher did Calligraphy, but nobody would have dared to ask her to do something without pay, even if influencers were a thing at the time (early '70s).

I once saw an ad for a hotel and it listed the rates. One category was "Influencer Rate", which was the same as the rate offered to everyone.

I love how the look on Charlotte's face when she's reading the "My Made In Kenya Birthday" one literally says "Could this possibly get any more tasteless?! EW!"

I've been off social media for a while now because of mental health, and its reached a point when I meet/see Grammers taking pics irl I have this kind of surreal feeling liking I'm looking into a scene from another world. It has become alien and dissonant that people revolve their lives around social media.

Its so weird isnt it? Like, live in the moment and enjoy your day rather than taking 50,000 pictures whilst the most incredible stuff is passing you by. When I went to Chichen Itza I was like 'huh?!' all these people posing for the thousands of photos and not even taking in the actual WONDER OF THE WORLD 🤦‍♀️🤣🙈

Influencers means entitled cry babies. When someone starts to define their worth by how many likes and followers they have. It’s when these people needs to sit down with a shrink and get back to reality. Sad how young people are turning into snow flakes and social leeches.
Bravo to this young lady to have a high standard and self worth. Keep up the great work.

Micro-influencer? Is that a real thing? It sounds like the social media equivalent of a participation trophy.
Also, not sure who the last one was but holy bejeezus, 🤣 At least they weren't trying to pay in exposure
