Also Mr Wilson in Dennis the Menace. Joseph Kearns died of a cerebral hemorage during the third season playing George Wilson and was replaced Gale Gordon as his character’s brother John Wilson. Although Kearns departure was explained by his moving out of town, you could tell by Jay North (Dennis) devastated demeanor that something was wrong.

You missed an opportunity to make yet a further parallel here with Night Court's 2 elderly female bailiffs. The actresses both died while the show went on. Roz is the third bailiff.
What about "Coach" from Cheers?
Yes. Nick Colasanto from Cheers. I liked the Coach better than Woody.
The Adventures of Superman had been off the air by the time of George Reeves's death (its last episode aired in April 1958).
Rerun Zone .........
The producers planned to continue the series with two more seasons to start airing in 1960. Even after Reeves' death, they asked Jack Larson to continue with a 'Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen' series,' but Larson turned it down.
@@RerunZone I knew that.
Also Marion Lorne as Aunt Clara on Bewitched and was written out. Alice Pearce as Gladys Kravitz was recast with Sandra Gould taking over the role until the end of the series.
5:22 While Phil Hartman is still missed, this is the one I clicked on for. I think I was about 6 when he passed away.
You didn’t mention Jack Soo from Barney Miller. “Fish”
Interesting and informative.
Thanks RZ
Thank you.
Dolph Sweet would be one to add to the list. He had second billing on "Gimme A Break" and Season 5, episode 1 was a goodbye episode for him.
I think maybe William Frawley died while playing the uncle on My Three Sons.
Close. His insurance was cancelled due to serious illness in 1965 so the show had to replace him with William Demarest. Frawley died a year later.
What about Mel Blanc?
In Perry Mason series, Ray Collins (Lieutenant Arthur Tragg) died before the series concluded.
Heartbreaking
Another TV star you left out was Pete Duel, who committed suicide while still starring in Alias Smith and Jones. (Roger Davis, who had narrated the main titles, replaced him.)
Great series and a sad ending for Dule.... Depression is a killer no matter what most people think
1. They had stopped production on Superman almost two years prior to George's death (how ever he died).
2. Hoss was NOT the first character whose death was addressed in the show. Barton Yarborough filmed only the first two episodes of Dragnet in 1951 when he died of a heart attack. Since 1949, he co-starred with Jack Webb in the radio version. Both the radio and TV versions addressed the loss of Yarborough's character, Ben Romero in The Big Sorrow. Both version will bring the tears 70+ years after first airing.
John Ritter ❤🙏
Showing the gun going off when you mentioned how George Reeves died, even though it is from the Superman opening, feels wrong.
