- While I did have a lot of fun playing this title, I felt that Gunvolt deserves to get a proper sequel where we actually get to play as Gunvolt more often instead of being reduced to a powerup...Still a fun game none the less.

Imagine being a good protagonist and getting benched in the third game of a series that bears your own name.
I despise that. Especially considering gunvolt 1 and 2 I loved, but I did not like using copen.
Yes he played similar to x, but honestly his setup is not only too easy to use under the right conditions, his level design is downright _boring_

@@ilucasz no it doesn't. Mission 1 starts as kirins view and after the final boss is kirins view. You can hear Gunvolt's thoughts throughout most of the story and in conversations. I see it as you control kirin while the story is through Gunvolt's view.
Totoally agree. The project were probably visioned as "gunvolt chronicles" same way how Zero series is to X, at which point X is this god like figure which has the whole "savior to mankind" god like plot status where his lemons shots get giga powerful in universe. Except leadership were like, oh hey let's name it gunvolt 3 so we get more sales out of it.

If they do make a fourth game, they need to make it that GV is playable again because honestly I think GV from the second game was the best, I’m a fan of this series since 2020. I’m still hoping freaking Copen is in a dlc pack to be PLAYABLE. Like playable characters would be fun

Honestly, this entire game felt like it had it out for GV. Like, the dude rdeserved a break after everything from the past two games, but instead he gets relegated to a side character in his own sequel.
I think Kirin's okay, but she really should have been used similar to Copen last game, having her own campaign, or did what Megaman X5-8 did and let you pick which character you want to play as while altering some dialogue in her levels. But she's front and center on the game's profile in the home page, and not the original protagonist and TITLE CHARACTER we've been playing as for the last two games.
And no mention of Xiao and his plans, or what happened with Nori and Mytyl, and Copen isn't even mentioned once. You'd think they'd include something about Mytyl/Joule, arguably the most important character in the games, or the rival character.
I feel like Inti just wanted to make a new series but didn't want to make another part of the Gunvolt Chronicles like how iX is.
GV's one of my favorite characters, and he really did deserve better. Completely agreed with everything you said.
Yuuuuuup. Like I'm glad that Inti figured out how to make Melee work better in this game overall, as I felt LAiX2 was a building block towards that. But shafting everyone else including the main character definitely should have not been the cost, as I was hoping to get insight on what everyone was up to and most importantly, play a new and improved Gunvolt from start to finish.
I wouldn't be surprised if after a while fans would probably return this after going backwards to gunvolt 1 and 2, and think the actual gv was more fun than kirin. That... would be bad

Technically, they DID mention Copen, just not by name. Copen is the reason that GV can use the Voltaic Buster and Kirin was shocked that a non Adept could be GV's rival. They ALSO mentioned Xiao and Mytyl...but you need to unlock the secret ending and it feels like a joke rather than an earnest answer.
On another note, the True Ending sets up GV to be a front and center protagonist again. They wrote an in canon reason why GV will be nerfed...by also still have the potential to be OP again. They've also been playing around with the concept of alternate timelines too, so I suspect Copen can make a return in a mainline game. Above all though...GV needs a goddamn break. He lost Joule and he ended up accidentally hurting Quinn. Kirin saved him from destroying everything, but they can't be together either. Poor GV...

As much as I love the Gunvolt series, having been playing since Gunvolt 1 came out on 3DS the game is very VERY misleading and the story creates more questions than answers. I understand wanting to make the game more accessible to newer players and the story may confuse them but just have a brief summary of what happened to bring them up to speed.
In regards to the story I'll be honest is a massive piss take to the loyal fans. Everything from Gunvolt 1 and 2 has been thrown out of the window. What happened to Xiao and Quinn? What happened to Copen after he left? What happened to Mytyl after she got her Muse powers left? And how does Gunvolt feel about these events after all this time? It does get mentioned in snippets but it isn't explored enough it teases and scratches the surface and that is frustrating.
Copen has been given the spotlight for years now with two great hit titles but they gave Gunvolt, the main character, the side lines? That puts a bad taste in my mouth. If I buy a game called Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 I want to play as Gunvolt.
Now like you I do not have a problem with Kirin. Not at all. She has a unique take on gameplay and she feels like a mix of Gunvolt and Copen with the tagging from Gunvolt and the dashing from Copen. That is a cool gameplay style but let's be fair we all wanna play Gunvolt to be played as Gunvolt.
I think it would have been better if the characters were set up like Gunvolt 2 where they have their own story lines and instead of very rarely tagging into Gunvolt. With Gunvolt being "nerfed" though that's bullshit as one would think he's a lot weaker and limited with his moveset from the earlier games but nope "nerfing" Gunvolt does not mean making him a god.
And don't get me started on the endings. I'm not gonna spoil any of them but all of them doesn't answer unanswered questions at all and it just leaves me confused and wanting to know more but it's just credits. The game as a whole feels like a build up to something else, a new game or something. But we waited 2 years for this game. As much as I love the Gunvolt series and how much I want to love Gunvolt 3 the story and how underwhelming and rushed it feels with barely any questions answered, I just feel underwhelmed and disappointed. And I think that's a shame.

The long response is appreciated as it's a good read! We gotta let Inti know that they can't do our boi dirty like this, as well as the fans who have stuck with em since day one. Its why I felt compelled to make a video about the subject while also giving em good feedback. I actually learned from Reicho's comment that the game does indeed dive into what happened to some characters, but it's as you pointed out, you only learn about them in small doses or in this case: in the far back reaches of the game.
I won't spoil it for you, but Gunvolt does talk about what happened to a certain character if you do those optional chats at the base, but that right there is a problem...it is the fact that this significant event he brings up is super important, and it still takes a backseat rather than being in the forefront where it mattered most.
Here's hoping we get more content that delves deeper in the past, or a new game that feels like an authentic sequel instead. And thanks for the sub bro! :D

I come with good news and bad news. The good news is that Gunvolt 3 has received a free update with an AMAZING boss fight! The bad news is, GV is getting more character assassination and painted as a villain in the past, and Sumeragi, WHO EXPERIMENTED INHUMANELY ON ADEPTS, is being pictured as saints. This story is suffering.😥

I was having fun with gunvolt in the demo and then it stopped. I like the new playable character but I want to play as gunvolt darnit. I was expecting to play as gunvolt they never said anything about him being a Devil trigger.

Yeah same. When they introduced the switch mechanic, I was expecting something along the lines of Mega Man X8 and how they had your maverick hunters of choice switching on the fly. That would have been MUCH better.

@@KudaGeatsune3821 Don't even mention it dude. I kept in a discussion with a dud by almost a week because he insisted the ending was canon and that it was just "Joule's perception", as if GV and Nori wouldn't just put a bullet in Xiao's head because of it.
I just remembered something I discovered when you mentioned Quinn! Y’know how you have the option to have conversations with your friends like in the previous game? Well, turns out, GV quite literally explains what happened to Quinn in one of the conversations, and it is NOT pretty.😨 Apparently, the biggest catalyst in Gunvolt surrendering himself to Sumeragi was when he accidentally hurt Quinn badly during an outburst of his evolving uncontrollable Septima. It’s really sad.😰

@@2elusivereviews Well, there’s still a possible drama cd that could help flush out the story! GV’s previous games had multiple discs come out that gave more background and flushed out the other characters’ personalities like the Seven Swordsmen of Sumeragi, and even Eden! Heck! Joule and Quinn got their own audios too! Quinn was revealed to be the illegitimate child of a rich man who had her live in a manor out in the woods by herself (and maybe a few maids) to selfishly save his good name. Since Quinn got an audio of her meeting Gunvolt, there’s still a chance they’ll release a drama CD of when Gunvolt hurt her and ran away.
(Also, sad note. Quinn’s Skill Image Pulse quote is “I’ll always be waiting for you to return.” Quinn must have been waiting for years for GV to come back to her, but he never did. She still must have loved GV even after he hurt her with one of his outbursts. How sad.😢 Though I do wonder who gave GV the idea of surrendering to Sumeragi.🤨 GV would never have come up with that idea on his own unless someone told him.)

@@reicho3034 The drama CDs would reaaaaally help out in this case. And you're right! Gunvolt surrendering to Sumeragi is still hella out of character if you ask me. Gunvolt surrendering to Sumeragi is like the equivalent of Shadow surrendering to G.U.N. outside of Sonic 06's timeline. Both characters would never do that unless they had a VERY omega good reason to do it.
@@2elusivereviews Well, there’s always the possibility that Sumeragi had been telling the world how Gunvolt was a dangerous criminal. His evolving septima could’ve helped make it even worse because of uncontrollable outbursts of power that made him look like a monster. They could be saying stuff like “He must be contained!” And whatnot. Quinn does her best to defend GV, only for GV to shock her during a bad outburst and then it just breaks GV’s resolve. He despairs, believes that he really is a threat, and then surrendered himself to go back to the company that experimented on him because he knows they’ll at least stop him from hurting someone else like Quinn. THAT’S how they should’ve told the story. That’s how they could’ve made it work.
As for GV’s unexpected evolution to Primal Dragon status, I suspect the fusion of Joule’s Muse septima and GV’s Azure Striker, and GV’s constant exposure to the Anthem may have been the cause of it. A piece of the muse still resides in GV because in the original GV2 for the 3DS, he managed to save himself with the Anthem for the final boss. (The Switch version cut it out because the switch has no mic. You had to sing Reincarnation to save GV yourself.) The piece of the muse that resided in GV did not have its original holder to regulate it, so when it merged with Azure Striker, it kept on boosting his abilities to no end. (Also, that Muse fragment is why the Lumen image pulse that accompanies you is sentient.)
If they drew out the story like this, it could’ve worked! They had a good idea for a plot, but failed on putting the effort into building it properly.
Yeah, I agree that our boi GV got shafted to a Devil Trigger, hell he's been getting shafted since after Gunvolt 2. Also the plot threads with Mytyl,Xiao and Copen is just scraped. I kinda felt the best approach would've been that this time you could play three characters
But Gunvolt would be the center focus because well.... He's the main protagonist who's name is in the title.
The double jump,taking damage and air dash would've elevated the overpowered natural he has in this title.
I love Kirin too, but she literally stolen his MC status due the decision Inti choose to go with on GV.

Ok I will agree that it would have been nice to mainly play as Gunvolt, but personally I love how Kirin plays she is really fun. My biggest problems and spoilers for people who have not played the game

For one the true ending felt Empty like the Bad ending felt like the better conclusion and I was in shambles after it because GV DIED AND I REPLAYED 1 AND 2 RECENTLY, Another BIG ISSUE is the fact that They made GV have the Conflict of his past actions, which if done correctly and NOT shoved in ON THE FINAL LEVELS WHICH IF THEY DID IT MUCH EARLIER WOULD ALLOW IT TO BE FLESHED OUT AND NOT THE EASIEST THING TO SAY THAT THIS IS STUPID, Like when it comes to Eden I get the conflict Heck GV2 LITERALLY HAD GV TELL THE ENEMIES TO RUN AWAY AND SAVE THEMSELVES FROM HIM, so in that case the conflict makes some sense, BUT WITH SUMIRAGI, NO BACK THEN THEY WERE JUST SCUM, THE ZOMBIE LEVEL IS EVIDENCE THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE TAKEN DOWN AND WHAT THEY DID TO JOULE, WHEN YOU CONSIDER ALL THAT IT IS STUPID TO MAKE A CONFLICT ABOUT HOW GV HANDLED IT, AND THE WORST PART IS,

that was legit the only time I was genuinely Angry at Kirin and at the writing to be honest like Gunvolt has a history of great characters and a compelling story but Gunvolt 3, I mean the Primal Dragons was cool and interesting and it is nice to know who made the Glaives..... and yeah I got nothing.

Given that Moebius literally acts as an entity that can see infinite futures and can shift anything to guarantee that future, it's obvious that it was supposed to be Xiao in that slot, but the writers must've scrapped that idea, which is absolutely unthinkable.
Awww....If THIS was supposed to be Xiao's ability at first...Maaaaaaaan! My head just exploded with a lot of possible out comes the story and gameplay could have took, especially when you consider the fact that Xiao was originally supposed to be a playable character in GV2, back when they were originally going to have GV as a villain.

It's funny how they put the "Magical Girl Mytyl" joke ending in and a lot of people were like "Welp, I'd have seriously rather had Tuxedo GV than Dogvolt".
In terms of character treatment, it's IMHO worse than X taking the backseat MMX. Firstly, after jumping through some hoops, X was still a regular PC in X7. Also, a lot of people were lukewarm about X, while Zero had many fans and few haters. Meanwhile, almost everyone who likes the series also likes GV, Copen is a love OR hate character who isn't even in the game and Kirin is completely new. Not even X7 dared to do Axl only. The gameplay is really saving this game cause the story feels like a borderline troll.
Also, GV3 is supposed to take place only 30 years after GV2, so all the human character would be still alive! But only Gunni isn't allowed to age or live his life. That's kind of f*cked up in itself.
First off...Tuxedo GV would be hella dope. I kind of want to attempt at drawing some artwork in how that would look like. (If I get better at drawing that is. Work in progress.)
Second, I can understand that completely. In fact I think you're the 2nd person who brought this up that X in X7 is treated better than this for pretty much the same reasons listed here. It is hella true that the gameplay is literally what kept me from ripping this game apart because despite my issues with how the writing, characters and direction is being handled here, I can't deny that I'm still having a lot of fun with it.
(Also helps that I am a massive Zero fan, so all Zero based gameplay is welcomed, lol.)

Well, they already did! There's the bonus ending art itself and at least one other one with a masked Gunvolt. Tuxedo GV is a reference to Tuxedo Mask (Sailor Moon), more accurate would be "mysterious masked love interest GV". He isn't literally wearing a tux, thought that would be kind of dope as well.

eh I like LAIx2 even tho it feels like beating on a dead horse with deus ex machina-ing a isekai plot, but it did less harm to the Copen timeline than the GV one with GV3.

Thought I’d mention this! Apparently, most of the reason why Gunvolt was made so OP for this game was because the creator himself had a problem with how fans kept saying Copen was stronger than GV. He wanted to emphasize how GV is leagues above Copen, but kinda got carried away with how the game kept going back to how GV’s Azure Striker is the strongest in the world. I think that’s one of the reasons why GV3 didn’t have such great story.😅

I recently got the game and on my first playthrough, about halfway through and I agree with this. I came into the game expecting Gunvolt and only got GodVolt and Kirin, I don't want Godvolt, I want Gunvolt, Kirin is really fun and I enjoy the Zero like skills she has but I got the game for Gunvolt, at least do what Gunvolt 2 did with different characters having their own story modes rather then just Kirin stealing the spotlight.
I just want to be able to play as GV with no caveats. I like being able to touch the ground and still get a good rank.

I think Azure Striker 3 could've focused more on the origins of sumeragi and how adepts came to be. Gunvolt and Copen finally coming up with a compromise. And how Mytyl/Joule is dealing with this. It could be even more interesting of the effects of further fusing Joule, Lumen, and maybe Lola if that were possible. It can create a new entity like being inside Mytyl's body remembering a lot of things and makes the conflict rise more sooner. I mean I have no problems with Kirin being there but it felt like she should've been introduced at a later time in like the 4th game. For the 3rd game it would foreshadow Gunvolt's awakening to his new power which would be the 8th level of septima. And for the 4th game that's when the introduction of the Primal Dragons could be introduced and that's when Kirin will play that important role as well as introducing Shadow Yakumo. I mean there's a lot of potential Inti creates could've put into the 3rd game. It should've been about that part as well as what happened with Eden in there too.
I honestly feel like after GV3, Blade should take over. Blade was such an interesting character trapped behind LAIX, she's basically FEM Gunvolt, and her being the successor to GV in LAIX is the most logical way to redirect the focus from GV to Blade instead of being sidelined as a lightning dog...
I kinda saw that they are actually doing things with GV that isn't really known much about,but GV actually became playable after an update,and yes,you can actually get a game over as him now if you dawdle for too long or use "Volatile Chains" (His 3rd skill eats up his meter),which is extremely morbid,as GV uses a skill called "Vanishing World" to erase all reality.Also,if you beat about three stages using Gunvolt,you unlock a survival mode were you see how long you can survive as a handicapped GV who's HP slowly drains.Finally,there's a true ending that may give hopes for him as the main protagonist for GV4.
But yeah.This somewhat should have been a spin-off, and it makes me wonder how the he'll are they going to fix the plot holes.Thank God we're getting some major DLC.
I am surprised that this took as long as it did for someone to bring it up! It's messed up that in the second game you get to choose from two characters, each with their own perspective with the story but this game, the sequel, allows you to choose between thr... one. And I bet that the story is probably not that deep.
Honestly I'm shocked too...heh...shocked. I was lowkey not going to make this video at all, but then I was like: Nah fam. We gotta let Inti know what's up and this is the best way to do it.
As for the story not being that deep...hmmm..I say its debatable. GV1 and 2's story when you get right down to it is actually rather depressing and explores the whole concept of moving on after taking on a very heavy loss. GV went through that in the first game, then he went through it again in the second, where as it would be Copen's first time experiencing it. I wanted to see how that would follow up here in GV3, but Inti said "Syke!"
Give it some time, most likely they will make another Copen spinoff, with it explaining what he did after he left his sister behind, and since GV isn't there to foil him well guess no one can't stop him now.
That would be interesting. Especially given how the 2nd game ended in Copen's case.
@@2elusivereviews It would be, but it kind of slaps GVs series really hard since he is the main character, we definitely have the Zero and Axl treatment for this series already. I guess it makes sense since it is the 3rd title, same as X3 on how they were shifting the story for Zero slowly.

If I'm not mistaken, the boss said in an interview that some fans were thinking Copen was feeling like the "stronger" character between him and GV, so he devised Godvolt to make everyone know that yes, he's the strongest character in the series.
Not trying to excuse/apologist, just a curiosity I remembered after listening to the video.

Jokes aside, I don't think X got shafted that badly in X7... sure people like to point that X isn't playable until halfway through the game, and that there's no reason to switch to him since Axl and Zero most likely ate all the power ups, but if you get his armor, X becomes really powerful to the point that you don't really need power ups for him to be viable in the last stages of the game.
(For a shitty game, I found X7 very well balanced... which makes it extra funny XD)
Also, at least X is a fully playable character. He still got a new armor and chargeable subweapons, sure he's basically optional on the first playthrough, but still, the option is there if you want to.
Gunvolt is basically a "I win" button and that's it. You can't customize him in anyway, and It's hard to invest time on him because the game teaches you to use him only when necessary, and they even pull a dick move by making you unable to switch to him at the last fight. :T
I have to give you props on bringing up a good defense in regards to how X was treated in X7. While I still believe there's a better way that can be executed, you drive a good point that X is definitely treated better there than in Gunvolt 3. I'd explain what that better execution could be, but I'd rather save that point til I actually talk about X7 itself when I eventually get to that.
I totally agree with these complaints, even the X in X7 is treated better than the GV in ASG3. Inti should update with a weakened GV mode to make up for this problem, even if it didn't have a story or not be able to fight all the bosses. What pisses me off even more is that they did update a GV mode, but it didn't nerf him and still limited time, and Kirin XX and ZedΩ are much better than this.
In the intro kirin says when you drain the whole power guage as GV you return to dog form. I assumed that she meant you lose the god powers from human GV and you start playing as the dog which plays like in the first 2 games, but you just switch to kirin. Why couldn't it be like that so that we wouldn't have to comprimise between GV being a real playable character and a super mode for kirin?

Both Gunvolt and Curse of the Moon are gonna require some amount of time travel to make sense. We need to see Gunvolt find a way to travel back to his own time and get Joule back. She's been GV's drive for doing pretty much anything, on top of being one of the two faces of the series. As fun as Gunvolt 3 was, I was hoping we'd get a follow up on the secret ending for 2.
Wait a minute. Gunvolt is having to keep an eye on Moebius for the time being. Maybe he finds a way to harness his time manipulation Octima and uses it to travel back to the past to confront Xiao. If JoJo has taught me anything, taking on someone who can control time requires that you have a degree of time manipulation as well to keep the field level. Do you think Inti is building up to something like this while using GV3 and the gag ending to keep us guessing?
Edit: Also if the Blaster Master Zero Trilogy has taught me anything, it's that while the protagonists do go through a lot of emotional thrashings, something happens that makes all that pain worth it. SPOILER
Jason and Eve finally get to live their lives in each other's arms on top of giving birth to two children. Those two went through hell and back for the sake of each other and got the happy ending they deserved. Yes I'm inclined to agree that GV3 should have been treated as a spinoff, but a happy ending is bound to be somewhere on the horizon for the blue striker.

thanks for this video i agree so much with it. the plot and setting is weird; i also figured it was meant to be a spinoff. besides that, i do feel the game is perfect; its a lot of fun to play over and over again and improve score; learn desperation moves and stuff.
not like ix 2 which it takes 1 stage to realize the who game is broken. and if you have to practice to start kinda having fun with the game, it probably wasnt good to begin with.
Gunvolt 3 is so much fun I liked kirin and the new update that made kirin stronger is good too I’m currently trying to get every single image pulse in the game even though im trash at dodging it’s still a lot of fun

loved the game especially fun playing as kirin and gunvolt. just the story definitely screams kirins story with a side of gunvolt. I do hope the ending gives it a shot for another game or anything really. Really love gunvolt series and deserves more games

I am more confused that nothing was done with Xiao Wu because by this point, he is the only character that's based on the 4 gods that aren't playable in some form in a Gunvolt game we don't even know what his power is.
Like they went out of there way to have Kirin who is the Yellow Dragon, and ZedΩ who is the Vermilion Bird in game whitch shows they haven't abounded the idea but have nothing about Xiao who is the black Tortoise.
Seeing that his symbol is the opposite of ZedΩ you would expect a rivalry like between Gunvolt and Copan but nothing.
Inti Creates is a souless company that probably dropped whatever they were attempting when Xiao ended up being so unpopular he placed below the freaking Plasma Legion in some popularity poll they made.
Sounds like a Devil May Cry 4 problem. I mean it sounds like they at least made their new character more fun to play. But they should have learned from Devil May Cry to NOT give your cover legacy protagonist the back seat. Even if they don't do anything in the story, at least make them playable from the first level to the last level as an option from the very start of the main menu. But not as a devil trigger.

And Story wise gunvolt is supposedly to be the strongest adept (not counting the final boss) so tacnically that is normal
but gameplay wise it's too good but the time is supposed to make it balance but I don't think they did a very good job at that and I don't think making him have one air jump and one air dash will balance him at all
And his berserk mode (that happens when you revive) is broken on porpoise so I don't think I need to say anything about it (also there is a timer on it and if the time runs out you will get a special game over but I don't think anybody will get normally because the timer is very long compere to you strength)
And about changing the name of the game from gunvolt to gunvolt chronicles
I don't think that will work because gunvolt chronicles named chronicles because it's the story of the bad ending of gunvolt 1 where gunvolt die and gunvolt 3 continue the story of gunvolt 2
Also the English name for Azure Striker: Gunvolt 2 and gunvolt 3 are kinda of different in Japanese they called them Armed Blue: gunvolt Sou/爪 and gunvolt Gibs/鎖環 which from my understanding that they can mean 2 and 3 but the way they wrote the kanji it's probably have a double meaning (I am not very good at Japanese but my brother is and he said something like that)
And this is could be just me but the game play of kirin is very different than any other games specially mega man games ( well actually while I am writing this I realized it's kinda similar to *the massager* I might be wrong on that since the last time I played it was in 2 years I think )

gunvolt doesn't need to be the main character of his own game similar to how Zelda isn't the main character of the legend of Zelda or at least that is how I see it

Now then, in regards of the name change: Gunvolt Chronicles doesn't nessicarily mean it needs to automatically follow the bad timeline, as like with any timeline itself, it is possible to branch out into multiple possibilities. A timeline where Gunvolt became a Primal Dragon and Kirin being the one to set things straight would definitely work in that regard.
In regards of balance, it is definitely possible to have our boy have one air dash and one double jump, and still be fine. I know of this, because Zero from the Megaman X series starting from X4 to be percise has those abilities. Granted he needed to earn them at first, but later on the abilties became a core staple in his move set. Even with these additional moves, Zero himself still felt like a balanced character. Further more, we also have other characters in the Gunvolt franchise who are far more mobile than he is, with Kirin's Arc Chain and Copen's aerial dashing in his respective titles. Giving Gunvolt these initial abilities with his kit wouldn't break the game at all imo, especially since the levels seem to already be designed with that gameplay aspect in mind.
Then there's the "character should be the main, especially if his name is in the title." I 100% understand what you mean in regards of making that comparison to the Legend of Zelda. However there's two flaws in that logic. One, it often confuses people since for a good while, a lot of people thought that Link was Zelda for a good while, given how most naming conventions go. And two, in the LoZ game's case...it was established from the gate that Zelda is not the main star of the whole thing, but rather the mcguffin that you need to rescue in every title. Further more, you're always playing as Link in literally every game.
Meanwhile in a game like Gunvolt, he's been a main playable character with him as the center focus, outside of Copen's story in Gunvolt 2 which is the only exception. And even in that game, Gunvolt still feels like he gets his respective shine as he should.

This almost feels like zx to zero series. It feels like it's own thing but also gunvolt. I mean he is in it. This sequel certainly is something different from what you would typically see in a sequel. It's odd and threw me off but it set up alot of really fun gameplay mechanics. I like alot about it, it's ambitious, different, but there are some things I don't like. I mean even they know the story is out there lol 😆 if there is gunvolt 4 I honestly have no idea what's next
Funny how they did better with another one of their series over Gunvolt 3, Blaster Master Zero 3 which is also their last game of that series.
I mean being realistic (because even the devs said so themselves) but how can you reasonably follow up 2. I see alot of people talk about "dropped" plot points but how can you make a full game around that, especially because Ix series answers alot of questions that realistically can happen to a character like copen for instance. Even looking a gv from a narrative perspective he lost anthem because joule became human and he respected her living her life that way. Seems kinda off to go against that for a sequel. And Ix even set up the idea of an azure striker being able to go beyond human boundaries so godvolt is honestly the next step from both a narrative and gameplay perspective.
Although I'm not excited about the mutant dragons thing (precisely because we've already seen a transcended Adept in LaiX)

Hmmm...I'll make a video explaining just that so it provides a visual. It was actually something I discovered by accident, but basically what you need to do is Kirin's dive move, then quickly follow up with the dash by hitting down and the attack button as soon as you land. I find it much easier to do by just mashing the attack button while holding down to make sure it executes.
But yeah, expect a short video on it soon.

I failed to finish Ix 1 for time reasons and ended up loosing track of the franchise with intent to go back cause I liked the story of the first two games and thought Ix was at least fascinating. But hearing about Gunvolt 3 and Ix 2 really aren’t making me want to come back.
You know what I don't think I'm going to mind that much do they give like the spotlight to another one it's like ratchet & Clank just look at it like this it's going to have another area where we can have another game where he can feel really needed and really busted

be able to switch to godvolt whenever u have the energy is fun as i eat a little bit of gunvolt and when satisfied i play more with Kirin that is also a super Fun char to play, tho i do think story wise could be much better
If they just allowed us to switch between them at any point without a meter and balanced around the game itself, I'd easily give this game an 8/10. A better written follow up story would boost it further to a 9/10 or 10/10 depending on how it's handled.

I always had the meter when i wanted to play with him a little bit, and on bosses i would obliterate pretty much all bosses with him.

I don't see it! I mean I kinda felt like this too after playing so many spin-off games without the guy, but now I think it makes perfect sense for geevs to appear in this way! Gunvolt gameplay is also pretty simple, so I don't see anything other than this devil trigger approach they went with justifying the 2 characters thing. Spending less time immediately playing as him somehow made GV's presence feel MORE exciting anyway; WHICH I LIKED. And his treatment in the story is a fun shakeup from his usual CUTE GIRL SAVIOR narratives too! It was more worth it I think to have a follow up that explores the eventual and extreme consequences of GV's previous actions like this game does over it being another token muse related villain plot like the kinda shit we might have gotten if that xiao pendant business got the focus or something.
Like - the dude was ALL ABOUT just living his own life, and never used his crazy powers to try and forward relations between humans and adapts in any real way aside from shutting down obvious 'bad guys' who were trying to forcibly change the world. His sense of justice has always been pretty strong, but it KINDA ONLY EVER BROUGHT ITSELF OUT when happenings directly affected his way of life; the bosses you fought in Gunvolt1 were all just odd jobs for him until it got personal afterall!
So him being sealed up in lore AND the gameplay is pretty COOL I think and a logical follow up to that continued trend of him getting punished for his potentially toxic inaction-y hero habits. The bonehead decision he made to have Sumeragi seal him away for 'atonement' purposes over actually just taking responsibility for his own shit is also SO something he'd do and these habits DESERVE REPEATING TRAGEDY BE BROUGHT DOWN UPON HIM. Him sharing a spotlight in this one makes a ton of sense in lore, and makes for cool anime game spectacle too! Win win??? SOUNDS TO MEEE like a true sequel afterall! We also DO love to just watch him struggle constantly anyway, DON'T WE???

Real talk how are adepts not like 1 in a billion Gunvolt, the most powerful adept at the time was barely able to keep up with Copen how is there still a good unimpaired population of adepts if no one’s keeping still racist Copen down (who btw cannot just die of old age before finishing because we know from Ix that he can just make himself a robot body if he has to)
Pretty fun but I'm not a fan of them just dropping the plotline of GV1+2 and especially Copen so they could do what's effectively a soft reboot. I know we got the Luminous Avenger games but 2 was not good and they ruined Copen's character (whatever happened to his disdain of Adepts? He was a good foil for GV and GV3 would just further vindicate him)
yeah i'm fine with GV being op, i here for the zero like character anyway, and yeah i got LAxi2 and yes the way they handled copen in that game with the saw wheel weapon was absolute garbage!
Really, Gunvolt should have just played like he does with the Primal Dragon IP/D-Nizer mode from the very beginning. Being forced to play in the methodical way like the old games to keep playing as him the whole time instead of just being a nuke button that can't recharge
bro idk about you but I loved this entire game and I liked how OP gunvolt was. Additionally, the optional only gunvolt runs that give a special rank called SS is possible. I don't understand your frustration. Gunvolt and kirin gameplay is similar if not kirin as fun as gunvolt. Also, I think this story is better than giving something half ass like IX2 or repeating the same hash of GV 1 and GV2, its already been done a heck load of times. If you want those you can replay those games but why make the rest also generic ? Plus, the story of GV4 could be a continuation.
Its possible that "Put it off, buy time, and cooperate with everyone to fix the problem", "THIS world's future.....I leave it to you all" , and "It sure would be nice to meet you all again" these two infer that gunvolt is probably leaving the responsibility of saving this world and never seeing them again.
My theory is that with the line "oversurge, azure striker with astral order! reverse our inescapable fate !"
there is a possibility.....that gunvolt will reverse the flow of time or hop to another world to fix that world or timeline. Its further supported by GV voicelines saying he regrets what he did when he dealt with sumeragi. What do you think, Wouldnt this be a perfect sequel ? I would go mad for this.
Right, I've played all the gv games and this one is my favorite by far.
They're not going to do anything of the sort for two main reasons:
1) The game has allegedly sold like crap despite being the most expensive in the franchise to develop, and the fanbase at large just collectively shits at the game which is extra damaging for a super niche title like this
2) Tsuda, the series' creator, is actually a dumbass that dislikes continuity and wanted a 100 years timeskip for GV2 to begin with, the thing is that people are convinced that GV3 was this exception but that's not really true once you know the team behind these games: it's GV2 that's the odd one one out.
So basically if they ever decide to come back to this franchise for anything other than cashgrab ports or that rhythm game, don't expect them to follow up on anything that they previously set up.

I’m not gonna lie. Gunvolt 3’s story isn’t the best, but I still think there’s hope for Gunvolt’s story and the other characters to get better once again. There might be a Robot Copen like in iX but unlike his iX counterpart, he’s still mad with revenge like his previous creator. The original Joule/Lumen could come back because Xiao’s pendent could still be left behind. (The joke ending isn’t canon.) Here’s hoping the story gets better in future installments, but the gameplay is still pretty solid! Kirin’s swordswoman play style is surprisingly fun when you get used to it!
Oh yes it is! Like I said, I dig Kirin's play style a lot. I would not mind seeing her return, but definitely give our boi his game this time lmao.

Yeah, there was a Joke ending called “Striker Princess Mytyl” about Mytyl becoming a magical girl (Sailor moon-styled) because Xiao gave her the Glaive pendant from Gunvolt 2’s secret ending that contained the power of the muse. You get it when you collect almost every last image pulse skill in the game I think.🤔 I think Gunvolt’s still PLENTY of fun to play with in-game at least! That’s why I use the best image pulses to keep that gauge up for as long as possible. Gunvolt’s like a freaking Raijin in this game! Even if it’s limited, I love every second of it!😍 It’s just surprisingly satisfying just decimating the battlefield with Gunvolt living up to his name as the world’s strongest septima.
@@reicho3034 All the more reason to keep grinding those image pulses as much as I can. And yeah, my load out allows me to play Gunvolt for a VERY good while so as long as I don't do any supers. That is definitely one thing I cannot take away at all, GV is literally a god here and it's amazing.

the games to easy, i was level 54 by the end, first tried everything, if your expirienced in other games like katana zero, hollow knight and dead cells, then this game is a breeze. not to mention, older gunvolt games were much more difficult, i've yet to beat the final boss in GV1
I disagree on X7... sure, X isn't playable at the start and in a way FITS his character to finding peaceful methods instead of violence (even though the idea was executed poorly) BUT at least once you unlock X either by rescuing 64 Reploids or beat 4 out of the 8 Mavericks he's fully playable again and he's OP as the strongest character. And has the Glide Armor which is very helpful. And NG+ lets you keep him and upgrade him.
GV in Gunvolt 3 is JUST a Devil Trigger as you said. As God-like as he is I prefer having him fully playable and unlocking his God Mode via upgrades or you know like how past games did with building up the Score. And GV as a character got dump down harder than X. X is still himself, fully playable and powerful, and the story doesn't dunk on his character.
GV3's Story was just awful... the story of the first two and the characters from back there are just gone. What? I had a weird feeling when I saw Kirin and the blue dog which IS GV. I love Sword characters, but man... I want to know what they were thinking with this character. Even the True Ending isn't really a Happy Ending for GV and the people waiting for him and NEVER going to see him again.
Not even X got screwed over that bad in and out of the X series!
Honestly, I wish some of the old characters were saved like Elise. Poor girl was a victim and yet treated like a monster. She never asked for Adept powers, got bullied, developed split personalities, got experimented on, and then put down.
What even happened to GV's old friends from GV1? We never hear from them again.
LA2 was bad, but it was at least a separate timeline, so id didn't break anything. GV3 really ruined the whole lore, and assassinated GVs character.
Gameplay wise, its fun, but most of the new characters are super annoying, including Kirin, which really tanked any enjoyment i could get from the game
LA2....I have my own thoughts about that game. Some good, some bad, it was a title that left me VERY conflicted after I was done with it. Once I do a full GV marathon, you know for sure I am going to have quite a time talking about that one.
But yeah, I do agree. I absolutely love GV3 when it comes to it's gameplay elements, as I've replayed it several times now. The music, the combat, the mechanics, the visuals, Inti really went ham on these things. But everything outside of that is where they fumbled the bag...not enough to tank my experience thankfully, I've endured worse. But I 100% get where you're coming from.
At least they gave us a Gunvolt mode only. Maybe one day they'll give GV the ending he deserves.

Because INAFFUNE DID AGAIN, first in Megaman X series, Mighty Nº9 and now he's begin in ruin the lore or plot of Gunvolt Series with 2 diferents universes in the serie.
there is no other option but to send the main character to another planet, ridiculous as a poochie effect in the simpsons.
And worse than in Megaman X7 Axl story and frustrated X story only to enable it in the middle of the game, we have a Kirin that steals the prominence of the character and only converts as an element that has nothing to do with a Devil Trigger or god mode in God of War series.
The game can maintain its aesthetics, but like the gameplay that Inticreates adapted in Megaman Spiritual Successor, it obviously also adapted to a WTF plot where, disappointingly, you don't have to see the story but a gameplay that would become monotonous if it didn't evolve like other systems of video game.
This kind of reminds me of something a friend once told me a while back when it came to video games like these:
"These games can be enjoyed as long as your turn your brain off and don't mind anything else except for the gameplay."
And while that saying is very true, my analytical mind will not allow me to do that sadly. :(
@@2elusivereviews lets face it, sometimes its okay to have a game to be a gameplay game, but if the game has a story element which as much as I enjoy the X series its flaw is its story at points or whom becomes really the main focal point character. Sure zero is my favorite character ,but at least we had time with him throughout the X series before the Zero series. GV is just a tragedy magnet at this point and I have yet to play gv3 or even play the Ix series yet and already I know they be doing this series spinoff shenanigans or alternate timeline stuff much like the megaman series as a whole.
