- This Royalton Riviera Cancun tour and review is meant to give you a full view of what it's like to stay at the resort, which is now an Autograph Collection property in the Marriott Bonvoy program.
I paid $249 per night for my stay (it's a Category 7 in the Marriott Bonvoy program), which got me a resort view room to start. Due to my Marriott Bonvoy Titanium status, I was upgraded to the Diamond Club, which got me a massive one-bedorom suite, complete with two full bathrooms and a butler!

Hey Jackson, you seem to be extremely picky in your comments,you expect everything to be 100% perfect but that 100% DOES NOT exist in this world,especially in a pandemic... I suggest that you stay home so you would be 100% satisfied I suspect ???

I remember I went there when I was 6 or 5 loved it best part of my child hood am now 12 but am going next year😁😎 met so many friends there and the people are so nice! , it was also my mum and dad anniversary and they put roses everywhere and made swan with the towels it was so cool!

We are trying to go in march for spring break, my teens love to swim in the ocean, every resort we’ve been to the ocean has been excellent to swim in just sad this one is not.

Can anyone advise on how to get to Cancun, apparently they charge you a lot for a cab as well as if you want to go out on a tour.
It seems that they only allow taxis in the resort they work with, therefore the only option is to pay what they ask which is 5 times more expensive than the normal fee.
You can book private transfers- usually the better deal. That’s what I did
Been here twice. 1st time was absolutely amazing, second time was above average. Restaurant operating hours can be found in one of the TV menus

We LOVE this resort!!!! My wife & I went here back when it was brand new & it was amazing!!! When the restaurants weren't serving at that time.. we just ordered room service. It didn't take long plus the food was delish and the service here were very friendly to us... we were treated like Royalty!!! #RoyaltonLife

Supposed to go here for a wedding next month. I have never had an interest in going to Mexico because of the water situation. Was that an issue?
I never worry about water at the resorts, but stick to bottled water and you’ll have no issues!
What resorts do you recommend in Riveria Maya that would be slightly better overall and in terms of food?
Anything with Hyatt in the name!

Your butler gets you reservations whenever you want for the restaurants so I'm sure they would have told you times they were open? Unless it's changed. I went before it was Marriott.
I'm sure they would, just seems odd they wouldn't have that listed around the resort. Others do!
All the times for the restaurants and activities are on the tv in your room. You also use the tv to order room service.

Curious - Does this hotel let you select your room in advance? I stayed at Planet Hollywood in November and I was able to select which tower and room I wanted to stay in.
No, I was upgraded to the Diamond Club; My original room was booked through Marriott and wasn't able to choose my tower.
They have an online room selector. If you go to the Royalton Riviera Cancun site, hover over the accommodations tab and drop down will show "online room selection". Click it and then enter your reservation info and hit "load my reservation". If there are rooms to choose from, you will be given a choice of rooms. If availability is short, you will receive this message: "Due to limited availability, room selection is not currently available for this room type".

Going for a wedding this Thursday! It’s an Indian wedding with over 200 people confirmed!! So pumped. We booked the junior luxury suite bc my wife is in the wedding party and will be busy most of the trip. Is it hard to book reservations for dinners? Is there a way I can call now to schedule? Only way to book dinners is through a butler in Diamond club. If you have that you’re good!
Did Marriott buy this resort about a year ago? Does anyone know how to reach Marriott Customer service? They would want to know it is not being run like a nice upscale Marriott yet. Thanks!
It was a few years ago that Royalton joined Marriott’s program.
I heard that the restaurants don't turn on their AC, was it noticeable during ur stay?

Hi! I have a wedding to attend there in May. I’ll be there for a few days. I’m expecting and terrified of mosquitoes and Zika.. how were the mosquitoes on the resort or in general? I called and they did say they fumigate but I just want to be sure
No worries for Zika and didn’t notice it was very buggy at all!
Loads of mosquitoes 🦟 seriously I would bit to hell even with all the sprays and creams

Hello Jackson, in Cancun, do you recommend the Royalton Riviera or the Hyatt Ziva. I'm going with my wife, 8 year old (girl) and 2 year old (boy) so family oriented. TY

@@JacksonJetsetting yeah I checked them both out but the Ziva doesn’t look like it has the “kids” pool stuff that the Royalton does? I pretty much expect my kids to be in the pool the whole time we are in Mexico. Also, food is better at Ziva? Wife is a vegetarian so need to make sure there’s enough for her

@@theamazayn4 The Ziva Cancun is on the point of the Cancun peninsula and has access to two gorgeous beaches. The Riviera one doesn’t have as pretty a beach. I recommend the Ziva Cancun all the way.
Planning on staying at this resort in five months. Realistically, how early do I need to get down to the pool or beach area to "reserve" a lounger or two? I think this is so annoying.

Do they have a club on the resort?
It's all inclusive, but there are some "exclusive areas" depending on what tower you're staying in.
Just returned, I can not recommend. It was busy, so many people! Sure, all inclusive, but if you wait in line for 10 minutes to get a drink, how great is that? Our room was terrible, the head manager said they were too full to find us a better one. I could give a list of 5 major things wrong with the room, use your imagination. Not clean, several things broken. Shop around, don't go there. We are Marriott members, they didn't care to help us. Like staying in a sub par motel with way too many people.

You still get the same room as the rest in your category. You would receive all the benefits that the diamond club offers! So it doesn't matter what area you stay in

It’s actually really important, it takes just one diamond club feature for someone who went with a regular suite to claim “hey, that wasn’t included in my stay”

Avoid going there. Ruined my son's wedding. service is terrible. the staff steals alcohol to fill the minibar, they need to be guarded under the door. vacation ruined.
