9 months ago I bougth a new Ariya (87 kwh Evolve+). I find it difficult to recognize the 'faults' that you have. Also the screen looks very different from yours.
Maybe the Ariya is very different in US compared to Denmark.

Overall, the quirks of this car don't keep us from loving it. We are leasing it right now, I would consider buying it if the price was right at the end of the lease. Thanks for watching!

Ariya's e-step approach seems to be a way to ensure that driver is always aware of a brake system as Ariya is a heavy vehicle unlike Leaf. There is an auto-brake switch below on the left of the steering wheel which can be kept in on state if you want the car to stop creeping forward after it comes to a full stop.

Most if not all "quirks" could be handled by just reading the manual...*sigh*

If you could elaborate, it might help other folks. Thanks for watching!

@@KennyGillis I agree with your idea but I certainily don't want to make this UA-cam entry any more valuable. It's just an annoying video of someone who is to smart to read the manual...so...don't give it any more attention...don't feed the trolls!

@KennyGillis i had a 1996 Maxima and a 2006 and a 2019 Murano and now a 23 Ariya. Almost everything you listed has been standard fare for Nissan since at least 2006 and some of them since 96. You have to foot on brake to start the car. Remote with windows. For other things read the manual. You can default estep to on, so there is no need to fumble with it while driving. Car play playing music is from the settings on your phone not the car.

@@GeorgeMangrum Sorry KennyGillis, this has to be the most annoying UA-cam video I've watched this year! Familiarize yourself with the car and/or read the manual! For what it's worth, I've also been driving a new Ariya for the past three weeks. Happy holidays.

Nothing in the manual changes how slow and bad the infotainment system is. I like the Ariya in a lot of ways but the horrible touch screen is a game breaker… no way I could get used to that
Once Nissan upgrades to some state of the art infotainment it would sell so much better. Especially considering that their partnership with Renault shows what is possible in the same platform. Its lightyears ahead

Yes, I agree. Read the manual and have a car longer than 4 hours…. It is a wonderful car and most of all it’s not supporting Elon Musk almost any car would be a better choice :-)

The windows rolling down with the unlock button isn’t really a quirk, that’s a pretty standard feature on lots of cars.

    • @KennyGillis
      @KennyGillis  Місяць тому

Yeah, I was trying to say the quirk is that you can’t put them back up from the fob. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice. Thanks for watching.

@@KennyGillis it is a legal liability to let them go up carelessly as the possibility exists to choke or decapitate a baby or child. The ability to let the windows go up is generally not available on other cars too.

Thanks for the video Kenny... I guess the "read the manual" folks just don't think making technology intuitive is important? Many of your points about the interior could have been negated by an engineer or design person saying "does this make sense?" When a company expects someone to read an instruction manual in order to use basic features of a product that is, in essence, a commodity at this point (i.e. an automobile) it indicates to me either 1 - Lazy design/engineering or 2 - A lack of caring about the user experience. Are instruction manuals needed? Yes, especially for anyone repairing or maintaining the vehicle. Should a driver or passenger need to read one to figure out how to adjust the AC or where to find data in the displays? No, I don't think so.

I just bought an ARIYA 2023. WHAT A SHOWHORSE. I want a workhorse, not a showhorse. I cannot parallel park. Too many displays,
YOU HIT THE Nail on the head. This car is a piece of crap. Should be better though out. when you hit the buttons they do not always work. You have to take your eyes off the road to hit so many of the buttons. Its dangerous.

What other cars were you considering when you bought this one? Despite the quirks, I like the Ariya overall. The price to lease was too good to pass up for us.

@@KennyGillis Unfortunately I had a 5 year old LEAF I was in love with. I had just bought a CCS to CHADeMO adapter for close to $1000, so that I could access more charging stations and a $175 NCS(tesla) to J1773 adapter to use the TESLA chargers. I got a recall for the LEAF telling me I could not use the CHADeMO (FAST DC charger) until they had a fix. I was planning to see my 75 year old sister and use the 2 adapters to go see her. She lives 158 miles from me. Easy to do in the summer, but 4000 ft higher and 11 deg F on the way to see her. So I was Panniccky. Nobody can tell me when the RECALL will be fixed. could be 3 months could be 3 years. I traded in the LEAF 2 days later. I had hoped to buy a POLESTAR in 3 years, Saving money so I could pay for my sister's Senior care place (SHE cannot live alone). I am paying $2500 of her expenses. I do not know how I can get to see her and back in one day without a FAST charger. I refuese to go back to an ICE. I looked at 7 different dealerships. The ARIYA was right there. Only one used ARIYA in a 70 mile radius. So I bought it. 4 days later I found a used POLESTAR. It is a SEDAN not a CROSSOVER. THe CROSSOVER is too big. I am sure the ARIYA will be okay. Its just I paniced. and bought it. I loved the LEAF. so easy to drive. I do not like the new radio, it won't let me get NPR. The new car has a map (my LEAF, I had to use my cell phone for a map. Muchh bettter for your mind)
I do not like the maps and all the bells and whistles on the ARIYA. I wanted a vanilla car not a super fancy Sundae of a car.

How is the inability to parrallel park the fault of the car and not the driver? I can parallel park it just fine especial with the help of the 360 camera on my Evolve+. The buttons are hardly any issue.
What sort of test drive did you do when you bought the car? You should have know whether it fits your or not with all the issue when your were test driving the car. It sound like the crap is you as a lousy person.

@@KennyGillis I had decided 4 months ago that I was going to purchase a Pole star in 2027. So I bought a $980 CS1 to CHADeMo adapter and a NASC to J1772 adapter to drive my car for another 3 years. then Nissan had a recall on the backup camera on my leaf, Next a recall on the Defroster, Then on Dec 27 a recall on the DC charger then on Jan 2 a recall on the backup camera. again. I looked at used EVs at 9 dealers. Nissan told me the car was used by a dealer on a lease and it was a $60K car. A friend who drives a Tesla and installs EV charging stations said his next vechile would be an ARIYA. I listened to him and the Nissan people who took charged the car 100% everytime. What did they do to that battery. Nissan would not let me talk to the EV mechanic for 6 days. I was desparate to get a car I can drive 154 miles to see my sister with Memory problems. NIssan pressured me with all their recals in 3 weeks. I loved my Nissan Leaf. Nissan has been after me to trade it in for 2 years.
