Impeccable "MMO city that is usually a hub is under attack in this instance" vibes! I love that trope, and it feels awesome to see all the setup we had for Ashen's Rest culminate on everything feeling so much more urgent and real. Kudos to Mark for weaving the setting so splendidly and to the players for caring about it deeply! It's always great to see players make choices that respect the narrative urgency. It's a shame Katie couldn't be there for this because I think Nim would have some really cool shit to say, but hopefully Daisy can show up dramatically for the fight ahead. Glad to have caught up! Clear skies (?)
Another great one! I didn’t except to stick around after the bg3 videos but now I am eagerly waiting for these videos and 30 episodes deep into Aerois as well. Keep it up!
Oh the things I would give to just be there, in England, to visit your live 😭😭 I hope you will get the recognition you deserve and continue conducting live shows in the future as well! If fortune has it, I will make it there next time🥺💕
discovered you guys recently.... binged watched this campaign and I'm finally caught up...omg so fucking good you guys are hilarious and this episode was particularly funny
Question on the fate dice. Why must the players decide to use theirs to hit before rolling, but Mark can choose to use his after he knows he already hit. I feel it should be the same either way to keep it balanced.
I believe it's because of what the fate does. When players use it, it boosts their attack (basically making it more likely they hit), whilst when Mark uses it, it's to boost damage... It would be a bit redundant boosting damage if you haven't hit
It's an asymmetric system that is meant to be different from GM to player. It's more exiting for players to try to guarantee they hit, but it's kind of lame to roll low and always go for a fate die and it makes it way stronger that way, to the point it majorly detracts from the balance of the game. Likewise it's more exciting for the GM to do a bit more damage, making big hits feel even more impactful and smaller hits at least somewhat significant. Remember it's a d6 both ways. A d6 to an attack versus a d6 to damage is very different, the former is way better and continues to be pretty good as they level up while 1d6 extra damage doesn't really keep up at all with the scaling of the game, which is why creatures are getting more Destiny abilities.
Hahaha that rock bit was unexpected, sorry I missed the live stream! Random appreciation, but Kim is looking extra fresh this episode, suuuper silky, gorgeous hair! ❤
Myself I prefer their shorter sessions- for me it's the perfect amount to be able to digest without losing track of the plot, and they're usually very good about episode pacing and keeping distractions to a minimum or carrying onin spite of them without getting derailed (this week notwithstanding).
Is there a reason the donation readings were removed from UA-cam? I tried asking with a donation on stream but it was never read out :( I always loved the extra bit of content and after-game talk.
Did mark even roll for the dukes save against a spell? Also the dukes son has been built up this whole time to be a great wizard or something but apparently doesn’t know counter spell? Like you’ve built up this great story but when the big fight starts it seems you’ve railroaded your npcs
Narratively it makes sense. The cultists know that the Duke is the greatest threat against them, so they would most likely have prepared (or been told to prepare) something that would come as close to certainty as possible to kill, incapacitate or distract him. In terms of gameplay, I think Mark took him out of the fight to keep the focus on the players, so they don't end up being spectators in their own game while the DM plays out a fight between some very powerful NPC's.
@@suntiger745 you could have easily had a battle going on in the background as a set piece instead of making the power structure for the dragon empire look incredibly weak. But that’s just my take
The assumption that casting order makes the rules any different for spellcasting is hilarious. If you cast ANY spell with a bonus action on your turn (this includes cantrips), you cannot cast a spell other than cantrips with your action on your turn. Casting the leveled spell first doesn’t change that rule.
I'm dying over here. Trott made the party laugh so hard they literally had to pause the stream and take early break XD.

Oh goodness, after the day I've had, I needed that scene before the break. Chris Trott and the High Rollers gang are a gift.
Can we get a one shot of Rowan's dream. That would be amazing.
He says Disney, but it actually reminds me of Roger Rabbit

Yeah, it's really allowed for a lot more action to happen and keep the stakes high

Another great episode!
Watching this late at night, trying not to wake my husband up with laughter
I so hope that next week we see Ophelia spider climbing up the side of the tower and smashing thru the window
The Escapegoat is a wonderful name for a Satyr party of rogues and bards on the run. 🤣🤣🤣🙃🤪😉😁
As a group name I kind of like "the company of the brave and the beautiful." They were described that way in game at some point and it feels right.
blackwing out there catching unintentional he/hims. feel that, sib.

Love my cube shirt, such good quality too! Thanks so much for all you do, we really appreciate it ❤
I got one too! Can’t wait to put my hands on it
Does anyone else imagine Blackwing looking like Eileen the Crow from Bloodborne?
leave the hoonting of hoontahs to me
No I imagine him in emerald robes long straight black hair, pale gaunt very dour face.
Almost vampiric.
Well technically as long as you think that's what they looks like that is canonically what they'd look like to you.
Yes, that looks about right. In twilight. Maybe a bit more rave like.
I imagine Blackwing as a Goth version of Elrond from the Lord of the Rings.
Haven't been keeping up with altheya but thanks so much for that intro, big smile on my face :D

They're Demon Slayers! So, Daisy is Nezuko, Xantheus is Tanjiro, Gruffydd is Urokodaki, Ophelia is Shinobu and Rowan is Gyomei!
This is going to be a funny episode to say the least

Sometimes, I really wish they would go for four hours. Instead, he's delayed the climatic moment just like an anime.
