    Lyon Opera Ballet
Soloists: Nerses Boyadjian, Maria Brown, Francoise Joullie, Josu Zabala
    Choreography by: Maguy Marin
Orchestra/Chorus/Ballet: Orchestre et Ballet de l’Opéra national de Lyon
    Conductor: Kent Nagano
In 1994 the Opéra National de Lyon performed Léo Delibes’s ballet "Coppélia" under the choreography of Maguy Martin. The set was designed by Renaud Gaulot, costumes by Montserrat Casanova, with lighting by Jørgen S. Johannessen. Kent Nagano conducted the orchestra of the Opéra National. Maguy Marin, one of France’s leading choreographers, is noted for her innovative and adventurous style. From start to finish, her Coppelia is a hugely entertaining and constantly surprising piece of dance theatre. The modern idiom of her imaginative choreography teams perfectly with the infectious melodies of Delibes’s lively score. The much-loved classic has lost none of the charm of the original, but has taken on a wry humour that adds to its appeal for today’s audiences.
