- Full ITV highlights of Liverpool's match at White Hart Lane against Tottenham in November 1987. This was Terry Venables' first game as Tottenham manager.

I was at this match, I'm actually a blue but was working in London. It was Terry Venables' first game as Spurs manager. I never had any doubts Liverpool would win. They were exceptional that season (it hurts me to say).
Imagine Barnes playing with mane, salah, firmino and coutinho
Barnes was the best player in the world between 1987 and 90.
Made a change to see a man sent off(Hodge) who just turns round and walks off down the tunnel. No arguments, shouting and crowding around the referee. The good old days.
Legend has it that when they took White Hart Lane down those 4 lads were still on the roof.

Living in London at the time, we had to go into the Spurs end, paying £5.80 at the turnstile, haha.

This was my first ever Tottenham game!
Just over a year earlier Hodge had done the same thing to Maradona with similar theatricals!
I was there....can't remember it at all...but I have the programme, so I must have been there. Different world back then.
What were you on?
I was there that day. Biggest ever turn out at Spurs by us scousers that day. At 29.09 you can see the Park Lane end full but we also had a paddock (can't recall if it was one or two) beneath the Shelf as well. Never seen that before for a Northern turn out at Spurs.
Everton filled it ilike that in 1985 on a Tuesday night when there was over 48000 at the lane that night.season we won the title.
Too easy for that Liverpool team! That was a doddle for Liverpool, didn't even get out of first gear for the majority.

How low Liverpool had sunk
That was Greame Souness. Got rid of experienced players who still had two years left in them and brought in average players like Ruddock and Julian Dicks who were almost thugs. At least Roy Evans got a tune out of Ruddock for two seasons.
Even back then Spurs are rubbish.

+Bruno Fotis i thought it was a very good spurs side. they were playing in a game/league with probably the greatest ever Liverpool side.

red men It was a Spurs team in transition. Hoddle had just left. Gascoigne was still to arrive
they declined as soon as Venables was appointed manager
This was a terrible Spurs side, Clive Allen suddenly forgot how to score goals, Clemence retired, fairclough and fenwick were 2 of the worst defenders in Spurs history, words can't describe how shite Mitchell Thomas was and even waddle was shit this season!
Terry fuckwit....sorry Fenwick somehow won England caps!
