Hafthor definitely has the strength to win the deadlift competition.
So excited to see Hafthor pulling 4 digits again. 💪🏻
I think they do yes. Noting it's the first event of the meet, some may be willing to go all out just to win this event, whilst others might leave a bit in the tank noting there's more events to come. That said, whilst they do have a chance, I don't think anyone will

It’s really disheartening seeing Mateusz continue to struggle with sub 900lb pulls despite everything else about his strength being bonkers.
How crazy is it that a well over 800 pound deadlift is still considered poor by the standards of these monsters 😂
He will pull more this year than usual
@@joebot9309 why do you think so? His best pull was 420 in a suit with 8 straps, here they are going raw with straps. And he tore pretty much everything since when, some body parts twice. It would be incredible to see 400 from him
How many guys with Mateusz explosive athleticism have his overhead ability with a 1000#/453kg deadlift?
Love these Arnold’s prep videos. Greatly appreciated.
Thoughts:
- The deadlift is Thor's too lose
- Bobby is definetly the thougest oposition Thor will have on the lift
- Hooper's prep doesn't look like it's ready for the desdlift yet
- The fuck is Evan doing with those lock outs? Hope he doesn't get injured... As always
- Tom, though not material to challengue Thor can give a surprise if Mitch, Evan and others try to get on the bar with Thor, so if Tom plays smart he has a chance to get 3rd, however, suits ain't gonna help that day
- Poor Mateusz
Hooper looks primed to pull 1000lbs+ on the day which was his stated goal. No one is beating Thor on deadlift unless he makes a mistake but Mitch should be in the mix with Bobby for second.
Tom and Martins could possibly pull 1000+ too but with lower probability in my opinion.
@@lukebbuffAbsolutely. Although, as of today I see Martins getting a 1K pull more than Hooper, he is prepping on a bar closer to the elephant bar whereas Mitch is doing this elevated pulls, but is gonna be tough
I've never seen an athlete in any sport be able to do what Hafthor has done.........at least twice.....
Somehow some way, he can adapt like no one else. It's even more insane taking his height into account. Never seen anything like him. I've assumed he was retiring twice. I was wrong both times. Even when he actually "retired" I assumed he could come back.........because I was so absurdly wrong previously.
Edit: That being said, I always hope Mateusz wins. (I'm not even Polish)

I've got so many "favorites" this year I'm not sure who to cheer for! After watching this EXCELLENT video, as an "average fan", I'd say that Hafthor's pulls were easily the fastest and smoothest. This is the strongest group of deadifters I've seen competing at the same time. Good luck to them all!😎👍
Fantastic video edit and music to match too. Very impressed with the editing and building up with genuine suspense for the classic and those involved. Competition will be so amazing this year with so many at the top of their game and desire to be the best along with great camaraderie too 🎉🎉🎉

Well, he has a higher injury risk than usual, plus his axle isn't the best it's been. Also two hard on the grip events, he might be troubled with
He spoke about the DL, the only event that matters for Thor at the moment
I agree that the determining factor will be his grip, hopefully his powerlifting training will have improved that strength (deadlift training) but thankfully none of the events are too "pec straining" so fingers crossed he stays injury free.
There's no doubt he takes the deadlift. But I think he will lose too many points on axle and stones
@@walk-yorkI think he'll get a rep on the stone to shoulder and a lot of other athletes won't manage it. It's such an extreme feat of strength on its own, let alone after a press and a load.
Think Tom is gonna be a suprise in this event, but Thor gonna be the man to beat

Thor looking strong. Mateusz still struggling with deadlifts is sad, because he's so good at literally everything else. Well idk about his squat.
He is one of the better squatters in strongman. That's why his injury before the 2022 ASC was so devastating, he had no weakness that year.
Thor is hands down favorite to win the deadlift and probable beat his own WR which is his main goal, if i remember it correctly. I don't think he even train much of those other events so he for sure is not favorite to win it all, probable not even podium
He of course trains for other events too.

Think Thor will pull an Eddie. Come in win deadlift then lag behind everywhere else
That's a Stupid comparison.
Eddie does the Deadlift and withdraw from the rest of the competition. *Hafthor does the Deadlift and he never quits, he will do the competition no matter what the outcome will be.*
We should also remember that we are still only 10 months post pec tear and Hafthor is gradually regaining his strength.
