I tested again my FS100 against my 4K panasonic DVX200 with M43 sensor. FS100 with the 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 powerzoomlens and shot in 1080 50P and the DVX200 shot in 4K 50P. Downscaled to 1080P and watched this on my 55inch 4K TV. I can't see no difference! tested low light on ISO2000 and also no difference. I can zoom a bit further with the DVX200 because it has a slight crop in 4K 50P. Will test higher iso later. So yes, this camcorder is still amazing for his age.
I think the FS100 1080 P is probably as sharp as Canon 4K from something like an m50 or an EOS RP. I was just noticing that the detail in m6 mk ii 1080 p is about the same as m6 4k enhanced IS. Canon 4k must really be something like 2k rezzed up. Fullscreen on my 15" Retina display playing 4k over fiber, I couldn't see the difference in sharpness until you cropped in. I think good 1080 is probably fine unless you start cropping.
Oliver, how do you connect and record into Atomos with this camera. I can connect it and view things that the camera sees but once I press record it does not record into Atomos but just into my SSD....
Loved the video and subscribed. Great style mate and you'll fly up soon, it just takes a few videos and the algorithm will go mad from there! I'm only on 700 subscribers but my last video took me up from 490 to 700+ and it was the most niche video of the lot haha! As for the subject matter, I completely agree, I think if you're not intending to zoom then it's remarkable that that the SuperScale footage is 1080p, it seems to punch well above. I think it's therefore relevant that you could pick up a cheap B cam like this and have it closer match a more expensive A-cam. Looking forward to more content, I enjoyed the first FS100 video of yours too

Have always found this camera very interesting, I think you can get an upgrade via Sony for 4K recording?
You can for the fs700 but sadly not the fs100 😭

Fab video, an interesting experiment.
Have you got a Manchester accent??
Hello, I have a question for you, if it makes sense to take a Sony FS100 camera in 2022? Or should I take something else from the secondary market?
All depends on use case, but there are plenty of great cameras on the 2nd hand market.
