Hi, we just meet at French Pass last week and I was showing you my home made lures. This is the video I had watched of yours previously. So I had seen your channel :) Alex my youngest son caught a 50cm blue cod on this trip. Good fish.
Hi Rod, it was nice meeting you guys. Wow that is a massive blue cod, well done! We had a bit of luck getting a kingie after you left. What an awesome spot, eh.
Walk on the track past Elaine bay right hand side to red rock. You will see it easy enough as lives up to its name. Snaps kings and blue cod although a bit reefy. Lots of couta that will strip your gear around the pass in winter as well. Enjoy your vids from a local whos looking forward to getting back 🙂
Thanks a lot for a. very informative video. I live in the NI and next summer will head south to the Sounds and further south so your advice about fishing spots and camping grounds is very useful.
Great video, thanks very much! I was particularly pleased with the balance you've achieved between time spent and number of places visited. Too many vlog-ers spend too much time in one spot with little or no result. Your videos show us the spots, touching nicely on the camping ( I live in a motorhome ) before moving onto the fishing itself. The short, diagrammatic maps form a nice bridge between places, much like a well written song. You've avoided my pet hate too - playing "background" music over the top of your own dialogue - I want to hear what you've got to say. All in all, a very nice presentation.
@@Fishingreminder I've returned to Australia to help my daughter with renovations to her new house. Stuck here longer than expected of course, but the Grandkids don't mind! Many years since I've explored the Sounds and have never been out to places like Titirangi. Would you take a 7.4m motorhome out there?
Hey mate looking to catch king fish from the land I've got a drone where is the best place to get them in the south island would drone fishing be good in the French pass drone an lift fully grown kahawia as livies
Hi there, I don't think you can lift a fully grown kahawai with a small drone. You'd need something like the aero kontiki. But you don't need a drone to target kingies as they come right in close to shore. The best places for drone fishing are open beaches. Golden Bay comes to mind or some places around Nelson where drone fishing is permitted. Perhaps even some places in the sounds over clean bottom. I found French Pass is not good for drone fishing as there are too many reefs and too strong currents. The best time to target Kingies around there would be summer to autumn.
@@Fishingreminder drone can lift 3kg with ease, but yeah thanks haven't been to the french pass sounds like it will be better for rock fishing u reckon golden Bay will be best im only those ways for a few days over summer so wanna hit the best spots
Yeah, for drone fishing and catching a kingie I think Golden Bay would be a better choice than French Pass. French Pass is better suited for kayak or boat fishing. What kind of drone do you have? 3kg is quite a lot :)

Looks like an awesome spot - a lot of variety of fish which is always fun! Looking forward to more videos!
thank you, yeah we love targeting different species in different locations. Always a good challenge and lots of fun exploring new spots.

@@hughbond4584 the last bit to titirangi is very steep and narrow. But I think you could do it on a 7 meter motorhome if you take it slowly.
You are a cool dude!
thanks :)
