- To vent or not to vent? That is the question that everyone asks at some point in the RC crawling segment of the hobby. There are pros and cons to both and we will discuss what they are so you can make a better decision on what's best for you.

Non vented, pinch or press the tire down on the table vertically as you tighten up the beat. Your tire remains sealed but will be "low pressure" at the same time. You won't have a vent, so your tire will permanently stay "low pressure" instead of inflating under no load, and going flat under heavy load. It's truly the best of both worlds if you can get all 4 tires balanced properly with the same air content.

I usually don’t vent my tires. Living in the south, it’s almost inevitable that you’ll drive through water, and I’m too lazy to take the tires apart to let the foams dry.
I have sets both vented and non vented, depending on where i'll be running I will use either or. I absolutely love my Gatekeeper, what a phenomenal performer!!!!
I prefer vented tires as I rarely drive through water with my trucks.

I have vented tyres and I put hair donuts instead of foams. They don't soak up water.
Living in the swamps and always vented tires.... PROPER FOAMS.

I run sealed always but sometimes no foams. Depending on the tire compound and what the rig is for.
My stock Knightrunner tires have water in them and they are completely sealed. I call BS on the whole Non vented equals no water thing.
wait but if you have no foam in your tire and its stiff you can vent it and not worry about the foam molding?
Really useful video to a noob like myself. Instead of venting can a non vented tyre be squeezed slightly on fitting so it conforms more?
That won't solve the issue of vacuuming. Which will create flat spots on the tire
Drill the rim on the inside tap threads and use a screw to seal it and remove the screw to run it vented. I do it to all my crawler wheels. I drill 2 holes opposite each other. I tap both holes with an m3 to m4 thread. You get the best of both worlds. You don't need to put holes in the tire itself as it's not an RC basher that spins the ties really fast. Venting the tire itself prevents ballooning allowing the air to escape quickly or to let dirt and rocks out. I do recommend storing the tires with their vents open after a run in case any moisture got inside.
I only need to vent my tires because they are full of sand. I only have a drill. Hopefully I don’t mess up my tires.
I run sealed as i get the shoes wet most of the time.
What about drilling a small hole on the inside of the rim to allow venting and covering it with black tape if you are going through water? Best of both worlds.
With the holes on the tire centrifugal forces help remove dirt. Personally, I've found tire venting to perform a bit better than rim venting, not sure exactly why. But your suggestion might be a *big win* for a user that is going to be around water a lot!
