Perhaps this is the "and rescue" part of "fire and rescue". A building made with blocks like that is unlikely to have a serious fire that would prevent other access methods.
I'm a brick and block Mason by trade. You have split face block here trying to break through. Always remember every 4 feet and on each side of the windows and doors are solid with concrete and rebar. And avoid the two bottom courses. Because that's where all the mortar Falls when you are laying the block that's the toughest part. But you're lucky it's only 4 inch block because you don't feel 4-inch block with concrete and rebar
Actually yes there is a point and if you read my other post you'd realize I agreed with you in the example of a natural disaster as a potential reason for breaching a wall. I just don't agree with name calling and derogatory comments directed at someone who is adding a comment that's meant to be somewhat humorous or especially when comments are directed toward the people that post comments that genuinely don't understand why we do what we do
That's the best reply you could come up with? I have to say this was a first. Someone disagreeing with someone who agreed with them in the first place.
The scariest bit I saw was when using it overhead on the wall. It was getting dangerously close to cutting with the top of the blade, which could have spat the blade back at him.
not all trucks can carry a masonry saw, they only have so much space. you probably would find that on light or heavey rescue or a specialized truck, most ladders and engines carry quick vent or standard chain saws, and tenders only carry hose and water
ike fun golly i bet youre fun to get in an argument with are all of your responses to ppl who arent as trained as a fire fight as you or as you think you are, srsly bro why do you just BASH ppl for NO REASON why you got such a stick up your ass
Image you're in a burning building with all exits blocked, no windows or doors, the firefighters have to break down a wall, and the firefighter walks🚶in like... 6:00 "heyy so where's the fire"
@@9volt65 They have wooden planks or kevlar sheeting to prevent glass injuries while moving people out through windows 🙄. If a windows is available then the window is of course the obvious way to go. If the building is on fire then they are not going to spend 20 minutes busting a wall while the people inside burn to death, while they could also just have broken the window. Perhaps first grow some intelligence before acting sarcastic. But Steve O has it right, it's a training for busting the wall.
With that many windows on one wall that was definitely a load bearing shear panel that you just chopped through, nothing like having half the building fall on your team. You could probably pile dirt in front of the widow faster so you could walk through with out a step ,if that was the ubjective or use a ramp or latter
I have a question about this training, why do you go in through a wall? Can't imagine any scenario or building where you would have to enter through a wall and can't use a window.
Thank you, looks like this training is a result of different building codes. Asked a friend and he told me they don't learn this in Germany. There is always a designated emergency entry which does not require to smash bricks. In some cases it's a steel plate they have to cut but they never have to smash bricks.
I don't know anything about type 1 buildings, that is a us specific code. Yes, here in germany many industrial buildings don't have windows, but they all have emergency exits and entrances.
Hey, you need to teach them chainsaw safety. I don't care who you are, you don't cut towards people and you don't grab branches or twigs near the chainsaw when it is on. You wait till the cut is done to grab any branches or twigs. I've worked in the tree business for 9 years my dad 37 years, and the number one thing they first teach you when cutting, make sure no one is in 5 ft of you and the chainsaw when it is on.
First thing I thought was the zero regard for personal safety when I saw a guy grabbing at a few twigs just to make it seem like he was busy meanwhile there was a running chainsaw inches from his hand and lower arm.
I have had to break a wall, it's tiring but highly effective when you can't really get a different way for ventilation, so I guess all of that comments asking why come from poeple that haven't seen any situation where it's needed. Anyway, respect the pros, they train in this kind of scenarios to be ready for anything, don't be a douche, support your local FD
Well if you would try this with a german house, in a case of a emergency The house would be long collapsed and the firefigther still would try to get through The wall. 😅
Fire a n d r e s c u e. They don't only attend fires. Also depending on the block design, you can smash a man sized hole in a black wall in under 30 seconds. This was harder than many because they were splitface blocks between windows, meaning all standards no H's. Only thing making it easier is they weren't filled.
I get that this is for training purposes and they are not training on this style of building structure but I could think of 10 different ways to get inside a building like that. Or 10 different tools for that matter sledge hammer calls for more man power and on a hot day you will be sending a lot of different companies to the hospital for heat exhaustion or other injuries. I guess if all you have is a sledge hammer on your rig then this is a good training lol
Man I love seeing all the keyboard firefighters in the comments... OFCOURSE there are windows there. But they are training as if there is none... as if there is no other entry point to that area of the building. Sure, 90% of the time you’re gonna have easier access points but what if the time comes where there are none? That’s what training is all about... creating “what if” scenarios. It’s better to train and be prepared for any possibility than rely on common techniques or scenarios.
LOGAN ROBINSON probably just swinging with his off hand. It's like trying to throw a ball with your left hand when you're right handed. Never looks pretty.
Why would the fire chief tire his guys out doing it manually? I mean, they could of waited for the pneumatic/electric tools and still would of made it inside in less time that it took with the sledge.
I'm so glad our firefighters in New Zealand receive training from qualified firefighting instructors. I wonder how many brave volunteers have died due to poor training.
I bet people will be nice and toasty before these clowns get through the wall. Rescue workers usually talk about how every second counts in each situation. So why don't you guys start by filing that chain and maintain your equipment properly. I bet the sawing motion the guy made cut a second off the time though... And sledgehammers to break through a wall, really? Can't be much of an emergency if that is the plan to enter a building. Come on guys there are modern, professional ways of attacking these problems.

Adam Burdick .
Yah, I saw that immediately too, that should have definitely been caught and CORRECTED!

Cut your buddy not your body
I am appalled, I've been a firefighter for 32 years this is despicable! I have also never been a firefighter and I'm just lonely
Try suicide. The firemen are first on scene for suicides.
That must've taken forever

I have to say it. THROUGH THE WINDOWWWWWWWW THROUGH THE WALLLLLLL

but if you open the wall air will also get in, right?

Hahah you must not understand the word exercise.
They train like this in the case that there are no windows,
sharpen that chainsaw! OMG rookie mistake
Da dadaa how ?
VainGloryGamer22 he's saying it's a rookie mistake having a dull saw.
They're just not putting on any pressure. You need to push with a chainsaw, he's just limp wristing it
why are you calling the firefighters fucking retarded ike thats not very nice

Daniel Rose they are just training for the possibility. It's always good to be prepared for anything that can happen
Simple how about if there are no windows or doors to go through in that section of the building?
