I was a new player when Sanctum of Domination came out. Imagine learning WoW in Shadowlands lol. But those are the most fun learning a new game for me was. And honestly out of all MMOs that I've played, WoW is the only one that can retain my attention.
The token you talk about at 10:46 has 2 sets. The hero track for pve or the champ track for pvp. The champ gear will scale to 528 ilvl in pvp. So if you pve get the left side not the pvp one.
I mean it is a robust system, but thats because there is so many tracks to follow to try to gear up. It would be alot less confusing if said player just focuses on a single one of these methods or keep it down to 1-2, it shouldn't be as intimidating. Definitely at a first glance tho, this is alot. Complicated only when people think they need to memorize or keep a chart explaining exactly what ilvl/upgrade track every activity drops. TLDR is play the game = get gear, you should be trying to do the highest difficulty you’re capable of anyways. This is actually simpler than previous valor point systems because there’s no wasted currency since, if you get get a better item in a slot that you already spent currency to upgrade, you don’t have to spend it again to upgrade the better item.
I'm sorry, as a casual player I literally zoned out for like 10 minutes and didn't understand what any of this is. The level of needless complexity in this game's currency and gear systems is astonishing.
My friends just got into wow after I returned after 6 years. It felt like I never left but my friends are just so overwhelmed and stressed with everything. 😂
This is why I loved Legion. The content you did upon reaching max level was simple. Travel to a world quest, get a reward. When I hit 70 recently for the first time, my brain melted at all of the stuff the game was offering me.

Imagine the meeting were some ppl come up with this convoluted mess, everyone adding more and more steps on top of each other, and end up with "good job ppl, great meeting, we got it".... What an horror show for every new or comeback player, the amount of info about gearing alone is unreal.

M+ should really have a separate gear system that upgrades as you do higher keys. As much as I can try to understand the reasoning for the entire upgrade system, I think it can be dialed back to the classic style. LFR = LFR ilvl Normal = normal ilvl Heroic, Mythic, etc PvP has their own gearing via honor And M+ could get a "dungeoneer" type set but, unlike the pvp set, it keeps the ilvl it upgrades to. Just in case there's a BiS item in the raid for M+.
Just want to say to the people saying this isnt complicated you have been playing for too long. I am a new player to retail. played to 60 on a couple characters in classic. This is super confusing and i have watched over 4 videos explaining gearing this season.
Once you get capped for +8 crests, you should be getting the "next in line" type of crests until that one is capped and so on. When the cap is unlimited you also don't have to worry much as you can always "downgrade" a level of crest for a 1-for-1 cost.

All this tells me is that its not time to play wow again,.. Like why don't they make Mythic + what it was intended as, A prestige challenge, That rewards Awesome cosmetic gear and titles instead of having it be a part of the power progression. Blizzard really doesn't understand who their player base was at its peak. MMOs are primarily a social game, and wow was successful because it was very causal and social. Anybody could build a character powerful enough to clear the dungeon/raid content.
I feel so bad for new or returning players trying to understand this gearing system. I've been playing the entire expansion and I still get confused by it all the time.
@@cedgalvi No, the gearing system has not always been like this. Jump in to any of the Classic versions of WoW right now. The gearing systems in those versions are nowhere near as confusing as Dragonflight's.

With Mop Remix on may 15, this seams to be a very very very short season in terms of playerbase which would play m+ and awakend raids. So for me Blizzard fucked up that we only get 1 catalyst per week. They really should us start with 5 catalysts instead of 1. We wont get our T-Set before week 3, or we have to get giga lucky with vault or raid. And than we have our 4-piece, we quit to play mop remix, so the voting for t-sets and so on, are complett useless because no one will really play with them cause all will quit before they get it. But thanks for the video, so I now know that I have to do my KSM + KSH without a T-Set Bonus.

Bullion system shouldnt only be a thing in "fated/awakened" seasons. Would be a big step against RNG of which im not a big fan of.

So the legendary weapon is only available every 3 weeks?
You can still get it but with the lower ilvl which it is now during the unawakened weeks.
They updated the rotation. It changes weekly now.
