Today I'm reviewing an orbital sander, from the new-to-Australia brand of ING-CO.
ING-CO position themselves as tools for DIYers, their mission is "making professional quality tools affordable." In price, they are positioned between Ozito and Ryobi, or thereabouts. There is a large range of tools available that are compatible with the Ing-Co battery, probably moreso even than the other two brands. They aren't sold in stores though, you'll want to go to MasterWarehouse.com.au to check out the full range.
See the full range of Ing-Co tools here: bit.ly/Ing-Co
I did really try to review this sander, but after using it and watching back some video, well, watching someone sand is...the worst. 😆 All I'm looking for in a sander is that it does what I ask it to do, and this sander does. I didn't feel the need to show 5 minutes of using it sorry!
Overall I like it, and will look around at other tools in the Ing-Co line up to see if the investment in a new battery system is worth it. Just like with my Ozito reviews, it's important to remember that this is not a tradie level tool, it's for DIYers who won't thrash it.
If you're interested, I'll do another review in 6 months time to see how it holds up.
Cheers to MasterWareHouse for sending the tools over! 👍

Ingco is a popular low cost brand here in the Philippines. They are known for their low cost but decent quality tools. Ive own an Ingco paint sprayer and a small inverter welder and they worked flawlessly until the time that I can replace them better brands.

Nice, that's a great start then, glad to hear it! And that's the perfect way of describing how I look at the 'cheaper' tools as well now. I don't want the world from them, I just want them to do the job for now, then when I'm able to, I can upgrade to a better brand to do the same job a little faster and easier. Cheers Gene 👍

Ingco is pretty polupar here in the Philippines. Only thing I don't like is their after sales service. I have a few ingco tools - jigsaw, angle grinder, blower, hammer drill and a 12V cordless drill. Had them for 5 years now. Still works great.

oh nice, I didn't realise they were around for that long, good to know. While I did/do quite like this sander, I never really went back for other tools from them over the last 6 months as I've already got most of what I need from a different brand at the same price/quality point. Interesting to hear about the after sales service lacking though!

Good for the price... Has 2 other sister companies that uses the same battery for all three brands. Wadfow, Total. Although, the chargers are finicky. The tools can use the batteries for any of the 3 brands.
Some brands has more variety but all in all it's a skin change mostly for all tool. If you like yellow and black to for Ingco, green and gray go for Total, blue and orange go for Wadfow.
I sampled all three. My Wadfow cut-off tool works with Ingco batteries and my Ingco tools can use Wadfow batteries. For total I only got a 12v screwdriver..not a fan of green.

Never heard of them - but, i was in the same boat as you regarding the corded sander, and just happened to buy a cordless model of the brand im "suscribed" to, and i agree - cordless is the way to go! Great review.

hey, cheers Vince! I was close to purchasing the sander from my 'subscribed' brand as well, but seeing it in person at bunnies didn't fill me with confidence. The opportunity then came up for this, so figured it was worth looking at instead. I've never really complained about cords until the last year or so, now I find that the more tools I collect, the more I want them to be cordless, as the 19 powerpoints in the workshop are nearly all taken up by big machinery now!

@@woodfather This is true - but more so given how far the batteries have come. With a few decent batteries, you just about have endless power...

@@ArchEdge Crazy isn't it? I spent around $400, back 12 years ago, on a really nice Bosch drill. It was honestly fantastic when it worked, but the 2 batteries it came with would die super quickly, within a couple years one was useless, the other would take 5 hours to get 5 minutes runtime - and of course they then changed their design so I couldn't get new replacements. Meanwhile my Ozito power exchange batteries are used in about 6-7 tools constantly, all semm to last just as long now as they did when I bought them 3-4 years ago.

@@woodfather Sadly i did worse... Back in 2005 i was in a different career working on cars, and i bought two SnapOn drills at nearly $900 each.. the batteries were rubbish!!

I have the cordless version of the Ryobi sander and find the battery sucks for big jobs. I have been mulling over getting a more expensive corded on like the Dewalt. Of course Festool would be on the wish list for a generous benefactor.

    • @woodfather
      @woodfather  11 місяців тому

Ooh I'd love a Festool or Mirka as well, but I think I'd have a heart attack if I ever found myself spending that much on a sander, when "technically" I can do the same thing with sandpaper and some elbow grease... Wouldn't say no if someone asked me to test one out though 😆

I have makita and bosch 18v sanders the makita about 10 years old and the bosch 6 weeks old tax time special free battery ect. Both reasonable sanders but I lashed out on the net type sanding pads and wow what a difference with a vacuum attached. Even though they are more expensive it cuts down on the amount of dust in the workshop. I hate sanding. Steve

Ooh interesting, I actually do have a few of those net pads lying around but I've not tried them yet, definitely something for me to test out. 👍

What's the warranty like on them? Im not particularly a fan of budget tools, but with the Ryobi and Ozito _when_ they die you can walk into Hammer Barn and walk out with a free replacement. Terrible for the planet and needless consumerism, but at least hip pocket friendly ;)

On the box, they have 3 yr replacement/refund blurb for the tool, and 1 yr for the battery. It also says only 1 yr for the base of the sander, which I think is a reference to the velcro coating on it. I don't see any further detail around that on their site though, or in any documentation that came in the box, (but potentially it was on a booklet which i've thrown out already...)
They have the standard refunds/return policy and boilerplate on their website, so it sounds like if something was to die you'd be able to get a replacement, though you might have to pay shipping cost as well, unless you're nearby their stores/warehouse. I don't see reference to a clear, "if it breaks within X months we replace it" clause. There is a prominent "Satisfied or Refunded" banner on each page, though I can't find any further details relating to that one in their terms. Budget works for me, so long as it works properly. 👍
