Oh man, actually hit the repeat button once or twice to fully catch the moment. Castillo was awesome, no doubt my fav drummer thruout history of QOTSA. Even more was a fan of his due to him handing me a splintered drumstick right after the show ended. Was one that he busted during amazing performance of Song For The Dead when they played a somewhat private VIP type show in the upstairs room of a bar/club called Jillian’s in Covington, KY back in fall of 2003. Awesome show btw BUT...! Only thing was that every1 of the band showed up/played besides Josh. Just Nick Oliveri, Mark Lanegan, Troy & Joey played what was a 10 or 11 song setlist. Also, was given a setlist by Nick and another one that Troy used as well to which both of em handed to me as well. Awesome day, let me tell ya! Played to about maybe just under a 100 or so of us who all were lucky to win exclusive tix thru radio or other ways, drawings, contests etc.
This was fantastic,...and you know this. Admittedly I wish any song other than "In the fade" was cut, but this was another stellar set from the masters. I can't thank QOTSAarchiveFULL enough nor can I express how important these uploads are. Best content on UA-cam is a full well recorded set from the best band ever. PLEASE NEVER STOP
Happy belated Josh Homme appreciation day, everyone. How do you like that setup? Ampeg's and Peavey's. Part Rolling Stones, part Black Flag, but 100% original. Notice the bars on Joey's front skin. Throw a few Dan Armstong's in there and you've got a party. Jesse Keeler was supposed to play on this album/tour, no surprise he plays a D.A. through a Peavey. Anyway, cut the bullshit, I'm ready for another album. Hopefully the recent Desert Session has sparked something.
Oh, do I most absolutely agree w/ya on that one! Been saying for yrs how the shows from the Era Vulgaris tour are the best! Always thought they had best setlists, stage setup, each show’s performance quality etc etc. Tell ya though, there’s not too many i come across on here that are QOTSA fans & agree w/this. Not only the shows of that time period but also put down the album itself. Just don’t get it! Been a QOTSA fan since the day their ‘Lost Art of...’ video made its debut. So defntly been a fan for quite some time unlike some of these Johnny come lately’s who find the LP repulsive and only seem to praise ‘Like Clockwork’ and nothing else. Mindblowing, it is!
@@DT24K I agree, I have been a fan from the start as well. There are so many songs and Albums that deserve way more recognition than they get. QOTSA are true musicians. They grow as musicians by creating new music all the time, that is what good musicians do. All the best musicians over time can "change their sound" whenever they want. It is their right as artists. Also, if they only kept one sound, people would get tired of it. Thus the point of creating new Albums ;)
Please keep speaking in french, I love it ;) "Nicotine, valium, vicadin, marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol ... Cocaine!!!!!" Josh defends the fans at 35:24... just shows how much this band loves their fans, commendable action there :)
Jon Theodore is a better drummer than Joey Castillo, but in QOTSA Castillo is the best drummer! I saw QOTSA live 4 times, all with Jon Theodore, and every show was memorable, but If was possible i would change this 4 shows by 1 with Joey.
Yepp, it can be, that Jon is a little more qualified, but... I don't know anything about they're drumm-schools. But i'm a drummer to. I never heard Joey play slower or faster in one song. But Jon... Many times... Joey had the best drum-ideas in this band, as we can hear it on many albums. So, what is better? Better is what we hear with our ears. 😉
@@adamwebster9784 a robot? Joey plays more like a robot would. Smash bang push the tempo up hill. Theodore plays like a human. He has a groove and a feel. Here’s the thing though. We can do this without disrespecting other drummers. QotSA hasn’t had a single bad drummer. I personally rank Gene over Joey but Joey absolutely has his signature sound and it can’t be replicated. But no one joins a band to replicate someone. They come to represent themselves within the context of the band.
my god that stick change at 13:18 smoothest damn stick change ever

Not to mention the awesome stick-replenish by Joey's trusty drumstick boy!

omg! what a gig! what a setlist! what a energy! best era ever!
the era vulgaris…
Awesome performance of misfit love
Every performance of this very song is .. it's one of their best
13:00 till 13:50 stellar
i love ...like a clockwork album and live performances of that, but their best gigs are '07 / 08'
...Like Clockwork is my favourite. I'm still getting comfortable with Era Vulgaris

This is awesome! Do you have the benefit show they did in Palm Desert or the livestream of the show in Berlin they did on this tour?

Ive been lucky enough to see qotsa 6 times. 3 with Castillo 3 with Theo... would take Castillo over Theo everytime
