@@Torriaw1 yea, I've heard them on pop stations also. And they're very successful. But what I mean is, Shinedown should be a household name. Like if you were to stop 5 random people on the street, they'd be able to name the band members and all their songs cuz they're THAT good! Lol.
About 10 years ago shinedown was staying at the hotel I was working at. One night they walked by to go to their rooms and I said “.45 is my favorite song!” They heard and came back up to me and were thankful and Chatted with me for a few mins. I told them I was in a band too. I was too nervous to ask for a pic but Eric came by the next night alone and I was able to get a pic. I also showed him my bass since I brought it to work to play late at night (I worked the graveyard shift. Saw Eric at NAMM not long after and showed him the pic and said that was me! They’re so nice!
Fun fact..the names on the rooms were their real names and I was like “Eric bass?” Thay sounds so familiar..OMG..that guys in Shinedown. This type of rock is not that popular in so cal so literally NOT ONE coworker knew who they were.

Brent Smith has always been an amazing vocalist, but man, it feels really good to hear him belting out some of these more powerful vocals again! Their new stuff is great too, but this one just really hits that classic Southern Rock vibe that first got me into Shinedown!
SpookeyClown listen to 45, simple man or shed some light. The studio version during the climax of those songs he hits a lot more high notes and really belts it. Live he plays it safe and doesn’t do that. You are unaware of this?
My brother committed suicide a little over 3 years ago. Gunshot. He had a child on the way. He was the sweetest man I had ever known. I listen to this when I miss him. All I hear is the message my brother must have had on his mind before he left. I love his voice. I love Shinedown.
I saw y'all in Phoenix Friday night...I screamed my lungs out to this!!! Sat down and fucking cried after.. y'all don't know just how much I love your music..
Sorry to you, his child, your family, friends to losing him. No one knows what their last thought is when they take their life. My boyfriend took his life December 5th, 2016. It's never easy for us left behind. God Bless you and his child, your family and friends ❤
Been having no motivation and feeling dead inside lately. I woke up one day and this song playing in my head, and I knew then it's gonna be one of those days, weeks or months.
I got free tickets to a Shinedown show in like 2013, having liked their music but not being a big fan or anything. They put on one of the greatest shows I've ever been to, they absolutely killed it. The whole band sounds wonderful live and they have great energy. They're the real deal
They performed for us in Kuwait in Oct / Nov 2006 prior to pushing into Iraq for a 15 month deployment. I always remember them playing for us it meant a lot. 🙏

I saw this acoustic version tonight, & wanted to check it out. I love it, & I didn't cry -- I guess we really do heal, with time.
I still don't get how he isn't more known. This mans voice is top tier, easy. If he did Sound of Silence with David Draiman, I could die right after I listened to it for a second time.
Brent covered Unchained Melody acoustic under the acoustic project Smith and Myers & it will never get the exposure that Disturbed got with Sound of Silence. If he would have done the song as Shinedown & released it they would have blown up with exposure but he didn't do that.
Brent has the best voice in rock. The Man has so much damn range it's insane. Saw these guys at rock usa two years ago and they sounded so damn good. It got me emotional. It was weird. They left absolutely EVERYTHING out on that stage. Best band there is now a days in my opinion.
Has a natural baritone. His vocal range is not that impressive, it’s the raspiness in his voice mixed with a baritone. It boggles my mind how one can hit the higher notes in the baritone range while adding distortion. Best example for that would be the last part of what a shame. Just incredible...
@@mabrokenleg2388 I'm not sure how distorted the "What a Shame" final chorus is per se, but it certainly is hard to nail the bridge leading to that chorus. The range probably isn't that bad in that song either, honestly, though I know he plays it very safe live
@nataliekalos1559 It is a very emotional song for him. It is about his Uncle that he was close to. He was singing it really good and then he stopped & couldn't finish it also was getting very emotional.
