- Today we take a look at Vodafone DataCentre, Waterside House, Longshot Ln, Binfield, Bracknell RG12 2WB.
We speak to security about what the place is and then the boss comes out to give his opinion on our photography.
The boss then calls his boss for advice who we speak to over loudspeaker.

Got the key ring thanks dj
You couldn't have, I just flew supersonic from Belfast, then fast roped from the plane, grabbed the keyring, and I'm now back home watching the rest of the video, with a beer in hand.
Well done mate. Comment pinned to let others know it has been found. Another very quick find 👍
Suspicious
Dam mate... Was going down to get it
@@flavastarinthemaking Fly supersonic, it's great. 😂
You need to know the difference: Google takes a photo from above, David takes a photo from ABERRRRRVE!

Lol
It's a bit worrying that a data centre has had multiple break-ins.
They need to get better security.
Closing the gates would be a good start I think.
Hiring security who can speak English, understand the law to a rudimentary level, and are more worried about the security of the property than harassing public might help too.
Maybe they should spent more time securing their site, rather than spaffing a bunch of nonsense at photographers outside of it.
Seems to me security needs to be more concerned about securing their property better to prevent break-ins than being concerned about someone doing a legal activity of taking photos and video from public land. Security is uneducated in thinking you need ,"permission".
@@bashkillszombies Security companies don't like people who can speak English.
If you don't understand English you can't question anything.
The security guy was poorly informed but friendly and non-confrontational. The bigger was OK too considering he's been up to the 3am alarm call. At the end of the day, however, it's the responsibility of the data centre to secure its facility. Don't whinge if you haven't done your job properly.
Your vids are better than what’s on tv🤣🤣👏👏👏🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Agreed 👍
Very true mate I watch dvds
"Private property innit"
guard: you can't flim here
dj: it's ok im only filming
"I'm NOT gonna authorize any footage of the building."
"Fair enough. Only slight problem with that is that I don't actually need your authorization".
DJ, have you thought of doing the SIA course yourself? 1) to go through what all your friendly security guards go through and 2) do it as a cheeky off-camera audit lol.
Yes. 😉
@@DJAUDITS Good man! 🪪
He's not dumb enough. He'd get 100% so they'd have to fail him.
Would they allow me to film the course? This is what I would love!@@majorlaff8682
@@DJAUDITS Please do. And most especially if it's NOT ALLOWED.
When you walk past and look at my building you must close your eyes. Errrr........
Well done DJ you were really respectful to these guys and actual they were ok.
Breath of fresh air from some other Auditing channels who actually become the tyrants.
Great video
That’s a very good point, you make regarding other auditors, becoming the tyrants which they do on purpose to create drama which their subscribers enjoy. Thankfully most of DJs followers and subscribers. Enjoy his professionalism.
Do they really think thieves or terrorists are going to turn up on an orange bike, ring the door bell, hand em a key-ring and fly a DJI drone around in front of their nose? lol 💀💀
Are there actually any English workers in the UK?
@@VS-xb1jg Sadly, a lot of bigots get off on seeing anyone who doesn't look like them be wrong about something. It confirms their biases.
nope. They all on benefits
@ajmHold on, security, no matter where they come from don't know very much. Take yesterday's video, thousands of comments saying roughly the same thing. Proves it's not directed at any demographic. However, it is apparent in a lot of videos.
@@ajm5007 You might regret that one day, pal
@@VS-xb1jg Why?
'Not Allowed' and 'We've had break-ins' Haha
Fucking muppets!
I love the comment, close your eyes when you walk by our building on a public pathway. LOVE IT,😂 HILARIOUS😂
What a donut the security was, these people need training 😂
Trouble is to many of them are fast tracked through the system to gain the license.
99 percent of them don't understand our laws and never will because they don't speak full English it broken English they speak so no
What are they on about? Of course they can't authorize anything in the airspace, as they have no control over it.
Great video and views 👍⭐⭐⭐
Waterside House was sold to Keppel DC REIT for £56M and leased back to Vodafone. In 2016 Waterside House was acquired by Palmer Capital and SEDCO Capital for £35M from property owner Aviva. In July 2023 was announced Vodafone is selling its London offices and six data centres and Vodaphone will lease them back through 2032.
2016 article notes:
"Waterside House comprises 94,867 sq. ft. of recently refurbished Grade A office accommodation with 338 car parking spaces on a 4.7 acre site. The entire property is let to Cable & Wireless UK on a 30 year lease, which has 22.8 years left on the term with fixed minimum RPI rental uplifts every 5 years."
The area was agricultural and rural near Roundshill Farm up to the 1948 aerial photo. Most post war factory units were constructed along the new Western Road on the north side of the lake. Much of the area since redeveloped from the 50s-60s developments.
Great information ... as usual ... @NarnianRailway. ✔✔♥
@@micksmixxx Thank You, your comments are always appreciated. DJ and other auditors provide excellent videos to explore local history trivia.
@@NarnianRailway You are more than welcome. All these places seem to have multiple break-ins. You know the first suspect in any business break-ins? Security.
Managing and using data is clearly very different 😂
Dave phoned Vodafone's Indian call centre.
At the end they said, this one is Vodafone isnt it? Like they didnt even know the location. Crazy!
DJ if you ever fall of your bike please leave it in the video 🙈😂
Will Do! The bodycam is rolling all day! 👍
I love your stuff D.J but would love a Couple of Of your keyrings as I watch you all the time 👍🏻 great Content Keep up the great drone footage 🙏
A man with multiple sets of different keys is all powerful
Shortest double yellow lines in UK. Don't say you didn't notice.
I wondered what they were all about
Mate how do you go on having simpletons bashing your head day in day out?
💷💷💷
Hello DJ from Scotland 🏴👍👍
The man with the phone said “I’ve had numerous break in attempts” does that mean he’s the culprit ?
Shows how good security is 🤣
😊😊😊
The public must abide by company policies when in public? Is he having a laugh!!
I'm sure half these security guys you film are doing their licence's via the Internet and don't really pay attention to what they are told. The ignorance is staggering 🤦♂️
The second bloke ain’t a security guard
Everyone passes, the tutors give you the answers. Just turn up and here's your certificate.
It’s got nothing to do with ignorance and everything to do with money. They pay to get there Sia so you can’t blame the security guards themselves. It’s the system that’s wrong end of story
Security are useless then ? If they've had multiple break-ins
Looks like they need an overhaul.🙂
😂😂 he is afraid you can not fly the drone.
They never fail to entertain us do they! 🤣🤣💚
Sounds like they really need to beef up their security.
Dave was right when he said - "I can not authorise it" . He has no authority in public, so he can not 'authorise' a lawful activity.
Foreign security calling an Indian data center to tell a British man what he can't do in his own country. A microcosm of the current state of the UK.
Probably he's calling to him in India
once again you are confronted by people who pretend to know the law, when in fact they are totally ignorant of it.
Pay attention kids!
If you spend your day looking out of the window instead of listening to your teacher. This security guard will be you in a few years, unable to string a coherent sentence together and dumb as a brick.
Kids, you have been warned.
Break ins was it Tom cruise mission impossible lol
So he says they are hyper vigilant, yet leaves a gate open 🤔
The site is wide open to anyone but it’s a photograph that is the problem! Big money generating business with no care for security. Madness.
Oh, DJ, how _could_ you, after being told it's "Nort orforised!" You need orfority!
The tall building in the background at 22:15 is Point Royal which has a Grade listing because it has a very innovative structure...!
Is it just me or is his jacket moulded to his belly😅
This is very very concerning ... multiple numerous break ins at a Vodafone data centre ! So what information is being stolen ?
For the most part security is clueless when it comes to public photography and drone laws. They should stick to what goes on their private land. SIA apparently requires no real training at all 😂😂😂. Great job DJ as usual 👍👏👏👏
Glad they are hyper hyper vigilant..😂😂
Great video DJ thanks for the education and entertainment. These audits have become my view of the outside world lately.
I used to work in there years ago when it was Cable and Wireless.
I can see my house from here (although a bit small )
😃
Cool, I used to work down Longshot lane, keep going past the tip, follow to the left at a place called Cartados Packaging, next to Culip Glass back in the late 80's.
Six break ins ? what were they after, big boys lunch barrow ? .
Brilliant videos. Does anyone else think DJ sounds exactly like Adam Gillen?
8:32 - "I don't see how that flies at all" :)
may be they should sack the security
Sounds like you need to do a bit of maintenance on the bike.sounds rough.
6:02 his phone 😂😂😂😂 doing Vodafone proud
That's what I thought! Tiny little basher phone. 🤣
More ill informed ‘security guards’ 🤣🤯
Love that Vodafone advert in the Vodafone audit 😂😂😂
The uniformity of ignorance of even basic laws is practically a default position in today's modern societies.
Whether it's the common security guard or his boss or even the police, other assorted bureaucrats and we the hoi polloi too.
Civility and behavior is often lacking as well. But you're the man for the job! Well done.
Good result, two security guards successfully humiliated due to their lack of understanding that people want to and can film a building.
Well there wasn't much else accomplished here.
6:50 pointless double yellows, ain't even finished off 😂
I saw that in the editing stage and kicked myself for not having a laugh with that. How stupid does it look! 🤣🤣🤣
Why have all these businesses had multiple break ins? Where are the police when you’re having a break in?
Oh dear, how you have the patience with these people, I have no idea
When it comes to security fencing and cctv it's always about money and most companies are reactive instead of proactive. They never want to spend money until something bad happens and then they spend, but always reluctantly
Never knew that was a data centre now. It used to be the mobile phone company, Mercury Communications. The othr side is Honda (The Honda racing academy's around the corner).
Funny thing about that place, the pond has loads of geese that walk accross the road every morning and afternoon causing traffic 😂
At Waterside Park you're very likely to be accosted by a large gaggle of Canada Geese. They are often seen bringing the traffic to a standstill, crossing the road lol.
Mercury House used to get broken into regularly when it was occupied by Mercury Communications. On one occasion they took out the whole window on the ground floor and nicked all the computers.
You would have thought by now the SIA courses would have covered public photography.Or have they but they are just signing off some people without actually passing the course?
You should have ordered some curry and some naan bread while you had that Indian takeaway on the line....
Where do they get em from
You went above and beyond to alleviate their fears. I understand why they were upset with the previous break in attempts. However, they shouldn't have insisted that you were up to no good and not allowed to photograph.
...Because I have badge and tell everyone what to do isn't it! I learn English language and make up English law isn't it!
Do the security companies hire from the small boats in the channel?

Their offshore security would have no idea what the laws are for this site.
What can I see of that data centre? Glass windows, grass, double yellow lines, manhole covers, cladding, pot holed car park, bricks. Data? Computers? Passwords? Er.....no.
Is that the smallest double yellow line in the UK?
Love the token effort of blurring his face, every time he moves the blur is lagging behind him 😂😂😂

Yeah, but you need to find out who they are first!

i really want one of those little e scooters lol they look so fun to whiz around in, great audit DJ!
That's breaking news I don't remember Vodafone announcing to their customers that there personal data has been compromised by multiple break ins !!!!!!!
I noticed your clever method of speaking to the ignorant. You speak to them like they are a child. It works very well, however it's a bit sad that there are so many people out there who don't have a clue.
breach last night in a data centre ? .... for what? stolen a server? The only breach I see in a data centre is bean hacked ....... DJ... they think you are going to implant a remote access device to the servers... or a EMP to fry the servers 😂
I would suggest that apart from computer type equipment, there is nothing a would be thief could steal. If it was the data, could sit at home and hack it, so I call bs, on what the bloke said.
I did notice some patch repairs being done on an outbuilding which may be an old substation with metal / cable inside.
Pinched big boys lunch barrow ?
@@stuartb4525 Lots of reports of data centers hit for copper wire if you google .
How about disruption to service. Access to data.
So which cereal box comes with SIA card?
😂
its free when you buy coconuts
22:20 the site that they are working on, used to be a cold store building; which caught fire and was on the national news...mainly because it was a ferocious fire...!
"Couldn't even do it" translates to I hate saying yes and being helpful. I wish security would stay inside what they're meant to be looking after.
Have you thought of putting a FLIR camera on David to see how much heat those data centres are putting out thru the roof
DJ and Simple Minds
......Drone't you forget about me...!!🎸🎸🎸🎸
What on earth do they think the connection is between break ins and photography
Fantasy
All these larger organisations will have had their cameras installed by professional building security companies. Reputable, responsible security installations that are recognized by insurers. Surely over the years, somebody
will have noticed that the back door isn't covered.
So, not 'honest John' with a van and a pair of steps on a weekend "cash only" job.
The desperate excuses used, to exercise control over their surroundings are insulting.
