I’m exploring the backstreets of Boudha, to find local hotspots for best foods of the area. It’s said some foods of Boudha, you will only find in Boudha. My first tour-- two types of Spicy Laphing! You'd be surprised how this simple dish packs good flavor! Shops visited: Yummy Lhafing Center Tibetan TopTasty Laphing Center, Phulbari Tasty Laphing Center (almost visited- known for peanuts in Laphing)
U ARE RIGHT. FOOD U FIND IN BOUDHA U WILL HARDLY FIND IN OTHER PLACES SINCE ITS DENSELY POPULATED WITH TIBETANS AND CAN EXPERIENCE THEIR PAST AND CURRENT EXISTENCE THROUGH FOOD, CULTURE AND RELIGION.
when travelling to a place where less english is spoken saying a word slowly does not mean they can comprehend. when you say "mild spicy" all they hear is "spicy" so that is why they did not make it "mild" spicy. I would suggest use the universal " no or Na before of after a word with gestures . so you could say " spicy .. no" or "spicy less" while making a downward motion with your hands .
It's made out of white flour gluten free and the tofu looking is the gluten steamed. Many Tibetans live Boudha so the Lamas, monks and monasteries by Tibetan Lama in Nepal , India and Bhutan also.
Hi... Loved your tour Since i am from nepal, boudha Its nice to see you enjoying.. And you made a really nice choice and then entered a yummy laughing center.. Its the famous one in that area.. Nice to see you enjoy your day despite all the dust and other thing.. Loved to see you visiting some new places in the coming future.. Gudluck.
Lobsang Dorjee Tashi delek! I am a Kathmanduite myself and the way I see it is that momo and laphing are two migrants from Tibet who have made a home for themselves in Nepal and become part and parcel of the local food scene 😊...
Newars had momocha way before. You know Arniko went to China to spread Newa architecture and arts and inspired the local history. So momo has newari roots.
Laphing, laphing everywhere, haha. Such a happy place! Actually it all looks so delicious, and I just LOVE spicy foods, the hotter the better, so it looks like I would love that place. I haven't really had anything in Thailand or Vietnam that was too spicy for me, so bring on the heat, lol. I also think I would love the hint of vinegar, it just sounds soooo yummy! Glad you shared these places so now we know where to get a good laph, har har. I think you made the right decision by going to the crowded place instead of the other place at the first part of the video. I went into a place in Saigon that had no customers for a banh mi sandwich, and it was edible, but only so so...then later that evening I saw another place where motorbike after motorbike with five or six sandwiches being carried by each one of them, and customer after customer was standing in line, so I stopped there. I never went to another place to get a banh mi sandwich after that they were so delicious!
google map could be helpful but when you are in NEPAL it's better you just ask the pedestrians nearby(youngsters, school goers) because they can respond you back in english and most of the people are local so they'll guide you exactly to your destination
Its funny how I came across this video but I do remember you. You were the one who forgot the stuff of your camera. Thanks for the seat.. We waited so long.😂😂😂
GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa it was at Bauddha where handmade spicy noodles are served. It was all packed. Hope you enjoyed every bit of it. 🙏 Do check out my vids... I m just starting though 😊
Lhafing?? Well loooks really yummy ...Bt i hve neva been there n i dont know why they call lhafing thats look like chinese steamed rice nooodle we call Cheung fun in Cantonese ...

Thanks for all the Nepal videos. Been there 5 times myself and plan on being there many more times.
Well, boudha is not a district but, it lies within Kathmandu district.
U ARE RIGHT. FOOD U FIND IN BOUDHA U WILL HARDLY FIND IN OTHER PLACES SINCE ITS DENSELY POPULATED WITH TIBETANS AND CAN EXPERIENCE THEIR PAST AND CURRENT EXISTENCE THROUGH FOOD, CULTURE AND RELIGION.
The second lafing centre is of my friend’s mom and the first lafing centre is more famous in boudha.

It was mild spicy. They inderstood- I also gestured and used ‘small spice’ but that is edited out to save time.😉
Yum, yum ,yum looks really tasty, I would have gone full out spicey.. But that goes with many decades of Khmer food.
If you go back please go to Kamlimpong that's where I am from.. great city and Momo's
coming to visit Nepal on upcoming October. i will must try this. thanks.
Welcome Back 2 Nepal n enjoy the beauty of this Magical Himalayan Kingdom
I love laphing 👌
It's made out of white flour gluten free and the tofu looking is the gluten steamed. Many Tibetans live Boudha so the Lamas, monks and monasteries by Tibetan Lama in Nepal , India and Bhutan also.
+Tenzin K Dolma Thanks for that insight! Is the yellow Laphing made of something else or just coloring? There was yellow and white.

Just watched this is the lafang? Made with saffron? Hence the yellow colour,,looks good to me😀
I’m not sure what made the Laphing that color, bc it’s rice paper. Saffron sounds possible. 😀
