This is a video from the Muppet Show where Milton Berle the best comedian the television knew failed to compete with the well known Statler & Waldorf, very funny.
The oldest know german troll is Till Eulenspiegel, who "took people literally" and played pranks on them. The stories about him were published about 500 years ago.
I haven't watched any of the Muppet Show since I was a say five or six years old, but when I reflect on it, ther two are always the first to come to mind.
I put this on my list of all time classic comedy bits. For me, it's right up there with Abbott and Costello's "Who's on First" routine. Simply brilliant;
i admire Milton Berle for being confident enough to let himself be upstaged by Statler and Waldorf. Bravo for a great (and unique) routine. I dunno who wrote the script, but they were inspired and worked wonders with the talent and the set up!
@@Corrael To be fair, according to Animaniacs canon, the Warners have been around for a long time, just locked up in the water tower for a few decades before the start of the series. It's entirely possible that Yakko did heckle him before being locked in the tower, which would put it quite some time before Berle's appearance on The Muppet Show.
That was brutal. But terrific! They've never been that hard on any guest...or had that much screen time during a star's segment. You'd think they'd appreciate Uncle Miltie, as they're from the same generation. Nope. Statler and Waldorf heckle everyone EQUALLY. XD
Berle: Now look, you guys are old enough to remember my TV show! Statler: Yeah, but that wasn't just some jerk not being funny. Waldorf: No, that was some jerk not being funny in a dress! Both: Dohohohoho!
My aunt had this episode of the muppets taped on vhs and I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was by far one of the funniest things I’d ever seen
I haven't seen this show in probably 25 years. I remember it vaguely, but i am laughing so hard i have tears running down my face. No comedy has ever made me laugh like The Muppets . Sure do miss it. :-(
I'll always love how the Muppets handled their guests. Simply involving them deeply in the writing of their scenes and asking them what they'd like to do.
Milton: That's it, that's it! I'm gonna call the police! Statler: Good idea, you need all the protection you can get! Statler and Waldorf: Do ho ho ho ho ho! Hilarious 😆😁😂
I love the Gregory Peck zinger. That was great. This was definitely a better time period for classy one liners. And not just swearing and making jokes about sex all the time, good grief!!
I saw Uncle Milty in Vages 1976. He had a heckler in the audience and Milton Berle torn him up. It got so bad that the heckler was shamed out of the auditorium and the audience gave Mr. Berle a standing ovation. He didn't miss a beat, continued his stix. Saw him Debbie Renolds. She was old as grandmother but awesomely 👌 HOT 🔥.
Tears running down my face from laughing. Milton was a LEGEND. The closing line especially crushed me -- Gonzo - "can I help you out?" Milton - "yes, please." Gonzo - "which way did you come in?" It's hard to type when laughing this hard.
Milton Berle was such a great sport! I do wish that he could have got some zingers at Waldorf and Statler’s expense though. Great job by Mr. Berle! 🤣👍🏻
@@catherineshaw1122 Wow! He wrote the scene? I had no clue. Also kudos to Milton Berle for taking those shots from Waldorf and Statler. Clearly Milton was clearly very humble and knew the power being being the patsy.
I love this sketch, and just now found out that it's a reference to Irving Benson's character Sidney Shpritzer who heckled Berle on his show apparently regularly. Look it up. There's a sketch called "MILTON BERLE SHOW 1966 Irving Benson hilarious as heckler Sidney Shpritzer" on UA-cam that has several of the same jokes. Pretty cool to find those connections in old TV!
“I’ve been a comedian half my life.”
“How come we got this half?” 😂😂😂
Brutal.
@@ThatSlowTypingGuy
W: Do you think we're to harsh on the people we heckle?
S: No they're just mad that we're mostly right.
Both: DO HO HO HO HO HO!

@@f0rbidden_cheeto
Thanks.
@@leohino9211 No problem 😂
"Look, did you come in here to be entertained or not?"
"That's right."
"What's right?"
"We came in here to be entertained, and we're not!"
Lol 😆😂
Statler and Waldorf..
The original trolls...
Theyre just 4chan shitposters before their time
But you knew who they were.
The oldest know german troll is Till Eulenspiegel, who "took people literally" and played pranks on them. The stories about him were published about 500 years ago.
Bugs Bunny is the og troll
Definitely
You will never, EVER, see comedy like this anymore. RIP Milton, everyone misses you.
Too bad the thing they miss is making fun of him. (It's a joke, relax people!}
Yes you can. Why don't you actually try going to comedy clubs?
Startler and Waldorf are so so so so underrated. Watching the muppet show as a teen, they might have been the funniest part!
they're like the original haters.
might have been?! they were! 😅😅😅
Barney Os. i'm 15 now and the muppets still crack me up
I haven't watched any of the Muppet Show since I was a say five or six years old, but when I reflect on it, ther two are always the first to come to mind.
They are.
The title to this video's a bit misleading.
How so?
"Vs." implies that Berle stood a chance!
Well he did stand a chance . He did? At loosing! Dohoho.
No, the misleading part is that we thought they weren't working together as a team!
@@TheOmegazerox nice impression of both waldorf and statler
Haha well said! The old men had a field day!!
Milton Berle probably wrote the jokes that Statler & Waldorf recited.
I put this on my list of all time classic comedy bits. For me, it's right up there with Abbott and Costello's "Who's on First" routine. Simply brilliant;
Berle did similar routine with Henny Youngman being the heckler. It is just as funny and clean.
-Your standing too close to the audience.
-Well, how far back do you want me to go?
-You got a car?
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

He's thinking 'Ah, it's Yakko Warner all over again!!!!"
I love that reference lol
I love you think that Yakko Warner came first.
Corrael It is a reference to an Animaniacs episode where they mentioned Milton Berle didn't like Yakko and that Yakko would heckle him.
@@Corrael To be fair, according to Animaniacs canon, the Warners have been around for a long time, just locked up in the water tower for a few decades before the start of the series. Dear lord this is the funniest thing I've seen in ages.
And I've been looking at a lot of Muppet stuff lately XD
What had you been looking at before that?
What, I'm not allowed to like Muppets? :/
No no it was shtick lol, you're allowed
Well you sure do look like one
If these two could troll the hell out of Milton Berle! You know Slater and Waldorf were legends and STILL are!!!

Well, the guest wrote their lines himself, so he's really making fun of himself.
You want to check out the clip between these two hecklers, Fozzie Bear, and Bruce Forsyth.
best Statler and Waldorf heckling EVER
Berle: Now look, you guys are old enough to remember my TV show!
Statler: Yeah, but that wasn't just some jerk not being funny.
Waldorf: No, that was some jerk not being funny in a dress!
Both: Dohohohoho!
If you don't get the jokes, too bad. If you get them the laughs come real easy. It's the delay that's gets you.
You're simply never too old for the Muppets! lol :D
And I see Milton Berle almost every morning on a classic game show called "Match Game". :)
Hollywood Squares, too!
My aunt had this episode of the muppets taped on vhs and I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was by far one of the funniest things I’d ever seen
This comedian is the same guy who played Madman Mooney, the sleazy car-dealer in The Muppet Movie.
"Detachable fenders for narrow garages!"
Extremely well written. Miss the show
That was awesome.
Statler and Waldorf are masters of snark.

That was witty hilarious!!😆😆 We need to laugh again in America with Good clean fun laughter. 😃😆
OH Man, I was crying laughing! I need old school comedy to try and laugh in this far too serious world. Thank You Muppets!
I love the Gregory Peck zinger. That was great. This was definitely a better time period for classy one liners. And not just swearing and making jokes about sex all the time, good grief!!
i miss mitch hedberg, he had some blue material, but he was one of the last good one-liner comics.
OMG...that is the BEST skit! Hecklers -16 .... Milton -0.....do it again, do it again!
I love how he can't keep from smiling right at the very end. A man with a hell of a smile, that Mr. Berle.
Yeah, Milton Berle might have had his fair share of hecklers, but at least he had something that Statler and Waldorf didn't, his own teeth! 🤣
I freaking LOVE Statler and Waldorf! So funny, making fun of everyone. Even themselves sometimes!
I love them so much as well! 😆🤣
Making fun of themselves! Double LoL! 😆🤣
"I just figured out your style! You work like Gregory Peck!"
"Gregory Peck's not a comedian."
"Well?"
:-)
One of the best interactions ever. 👍
Milton had actually used this same skit for years. There is a video of him with Henny Youngman as the heckler from the mid 60's.
Milton's reactions to them are great also!
Berle did that standing back further joke with Henny Youngman at a roast...
The first time I saw this scene, my favorite part was:
"How far back do you want me to go?"
"You got a car?"
Just brilliant!!! 🤣
I'm busting out laughing.

"How come we got this half?" I'm dead
Berle smiles at the end because he knew that was comedy gold.
Those two hecklers have an answer for everything.
This was amazing! I've never laughed so hard at those two old guys.
No one can't beat Statler & Waldorf
that routine never gets old! 'can I help you out?' at the end... EPIC
My mom used to work for Delta Airlines and she had Mr. Berle on one of her flights once
Mile High Club?
Well, I was imagining this and I’m surprised and pleased it exists.
That was the absolute best of all time.

This is Gold. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It may have a laugh track but it’s still funny after all these years.
Berle is playing the game - he's feeding lines to Statler and Waldorf, a true vaudville professional!!!!!!!
Gee.... ya think? You don't suppose it might actually be scripted, do ya?
@@wrlord Oh, heck yes! Berle was the last of the old time professionals!!!
Statler: You work like Gregory Peck.
Milton Berle: Gregory Peck's not a comedian.

Spartacus "Are you not Entertained!" Statler & Walldorf "We've seen worse"
ROFL, so many good ones in here. Love these guys, "you think you could do better?" "We couldn't do any worse." love it.
One of the most brutal roasts ever. And clean, to boot!
Berle was a star, as were "Starsky and Crutch". 😂
That...was...BRUTAL.
But it was so funny, @3.13, even Uncle Miltie had to applaud!!!
Ninth child in a family of eight? That's one of those I'll Explain It When You're Older gags.

Best hecklers in the BIZ....
I love a good roast! These guys are very clever have me laughing everytime
Statler and Waldorf pretty much made heckling an art form.
Classic!! Thanks for posting!
Those geezers can throw some shade!
Berle: “you think you could do better?”
Waldorf: “I couldn’t do WORSE!”
😂😂😂😂
How come we got this half?
Literally crying from laughing so hard.

Perfect! This is what they used to do I the vaudeville shows that Berle started in.
Those two are the best part of muppet show
"You got a car?"
Best line ever.
Best heckling ever
Berle had performed this routine before, but I suspect that the Muppets' audience hadn't heard it before. I wish it were longer.
Awesome! Now let's see them go up against Don Rickles!
Berle: ladies and gentlemen…starskey abs crutch
S and W: so you’ve chosen violence
This was awesome
awesome heckling - they pawn'd him
Damn, my man Milton got owned by a pair of socks.
..a pair of Hotels?
