This special podcast is the best Christmas present I could imagine. Sandra is so loved and smart and her knowledge is encyclopedic. A pioneer and a legend in Mormonism. Thank you Mormon Stories Podcast.
We love and admire Sandra Tanner…we will always be in her debt for seeing clearly what we could not. The Tanners helped so many of us through the maze of deceit with documented evidence in days when it seemed impossible to obtain..always leading with a kind hearts.
I absolutely loved this interview. ❤️ My first introduction to Sandra was nearly 30 years ago. I am now just a few months shy of the 20-year anniversary of my exit from the church. As a direct decendant of one of the early prophets, the unraveling and rewireing of the teachings has proven to be a lifelong journey. I never tire of listening to Sandra speak.❤
I love every single Sandra Tanner episode! It was really neat to hear about the reservations she had about coming on Mormon stories. It sounds like she has grown a lot from coming into this space, which is amazing cuz she's taught us oodles. Can't wait for another episode!
Love love LOVE IT when Sandra Tanner is on MSP! Sandra, please do more! Everything you know and have to say about Mormonism needs to be on camera for future generations!
Love listening to this lady. History comes to life. She's so interesting intelligent and funny. Happy Holidays all from non Mormon but loving all here.! cc in Ireland 🇮🇪
What a treat. I always love hearing from Sandra Tanner. When I saw there was a 2+ hour video featuring her I felt like MSP had given me a (slightly late) Christmas present. Thank you!
My grandmother (Baptist) would make handkerchief dolls and animals in the church pews to entertain us kids during the long sermons by her preacher-husband. Almost 60 years ago. Thanks for the memory.
Has Sandra ever written an autobiography? If not, she needs to preserve all of these stories from meeting Ervil LeBaron to stories of her Brigham Young descendant relatives. I would buy this book!
Yes, they have a biography that came out in 2022. She gave all the information to the author and he did a brilliant job. The author is Ron Huggins, title is “Lighthouse: Jerland and Sandra Tanner “
Three of my grandparents were descendants of Mormon pioneers - one of whom was Brigham Young’s sister Rhoda. Anyway, on my mother’s maternal side - my 2nd great grandmother Mary Field Garner, kicked her husband out of their house when he showed up with a 2nd wife - after Mary had given birth to 10 kids with the last child still an infant at the time. My mom said the church wouldn’t help Mary financially, so she had to take in washing to supplement whatever income came from their farm in Hooper. I just can’t imagine the difficulty of all of this, yet Mary lived to 107!
Dear Sister (you are "Sister" to me!) Tanner... I remember my father talking about his Wardle cousins when I was little. He admired them so much. I met one of his Wardle cousins, a former ambassador to a Middle Eastern country -- I think -- in the 1960s. He had a museum set up in his Springville, Utah home. His collection was fascinating; his breadth of knowledge was impressive.
It's kinda funny. When I was active the Tanner's were the devil incarnate! Evil, and fighting God, they were. Now, they are heroes. Brave souls that stood up for the truth despite all the hate, and vitriol thrown against them. Thank you Jerald and Sandra for standing tall. You saw things most of us were unable and too brainwashed to see. You have been a beacon of light for many of us.
Sandra Tanner doesn't need a PHD, her bona fides are so far over and above one. But if a university was looking for a top notch honorary doctorate candidate, she's it.
It’s not nothing that both Emma Smith and Maryanne Young, might had given tacit approval to polygamy, but didn’t want it in their faces. Smart, brave women. Sad, sad story.
She & Gerald were in deadly danger from those fundamentalist coming into their bookstore. Those fundamentalist polygamous leaders kylled any who disagreed with them.
Listening to this episode audio-only I have to remind myself I'm not listening to Jeff Holland interview Sandra Tanner. No offense, just a really similarly comfortable voice
His style is very hands off, I think he’s good at leaving her lots of space for her wonderful stories. He’s good at closing the loop of a subject when needed.
It is always a special treat to have Sandra Tanner on the podcast.
💯

I second that!

Hi Sandra! Brigham was my 3rd cousin! I’m happy to hear you’re of his family. I like your clarity and kindness! 🙏🏼🩷
Oh my goodness ❤. Abby was very pretty. How sad she married a 51 year old. I'm 51. I couldn't imagine pursuing a 17 year old. Tragic.
Sandra is delightful!!

Sandra you're looking beautiful as always!
Love Sandra! ❤

Sandra Tanner is wise and honest which transcends formal education.
It’s not nothing that both Emma Smith and Maryanne Young, might had given tacit approval to polygamy, but didn’t want it in their faces. Smart, brave women. Sad, sad story.
John you can’t catch a break, lol, but hey remember that you are revered!! 💙
Here i am in Australia Fan girling hard over Sandra ❤
Howdy!🎉
I want to meet her! She is a person I look up too. Debi Trail and Paula Reese... these three
What is this interview with Turner that they mentioned? I feel like I missed out on something.
Who is the interviewer?
Yes. Would like to know as well
Chris Thomas
My dad worked with Ogden. I have a couple of his books
Wow.
She & Gerald were in deadly danger from those fundamentalist coming into their bookstore.
Those fundamentalist polygamous leaders kylled any who disagreed with them.
The interviews preach think, really think , or as my grandmother used to say "try using your head for more than a hatrack"
Listening to this episode audio-only I have to remind myself I'm not listening to Jeff Holland interview Sandra Tanner.

🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

It was good til the end. Blasphemy and you laughed.
I don't know who Chris Thomas is, but he is the most boring interview host I have ever watched. Sandra was the only person keeping me awake.
I thought he asked great questions, which prompted Sandra to remince.
His style is very hands off, I think he’s good at leaving her lots of space for her wonderful stories. He’s good at closing the loop of a subject when needed.
I thought he asked really great questions also. And I’m from the south so I like his, what seems to be, southern accent.
