How to make the best COQUITO.
I've been making this recipe for Puerto Rican coquito forever. It' super easy and a great gift for friends. I especially love gifting it to non Puerto Ricans and spread the joy of our culture.
Ingredients
3 cans of evaporated milk
1 can of condensed milk
1 can of cream of coconut
Rum
Cinnamon sticks
Whisk the milks and coconut cream together in a bowl. You may. need to put the coconut cream in a blender to avoid lumps in the coquito. Pour rum to tasted.
Place 2 cinnamon sticks in a one liter glass bottler with a secure top. Pour the coquito mix in the bottle.
Keep refrigerated, serve cold and in small classes. Consume in moderation.

Everybody has their own way! I’m sure it’s delicious. I use the 1x1x1x1 method. 1 can each of evaporated milk, condensed, coconut milk, and coconut cream. It’s also Coco Lopez for me all the way! I don’t mind Bacardi but usually use Don Q. As long as it has rum right?! 🤣 I also add a tsp of vanilla extract and I sprinkle some cinnamon into it. I don’t use a bowl. Just throw everything in the blender y vamonos que es tarde! Thanks for sharing your recipe Ana. Happy Holidays!!!
I think I’m going to try your recipe because everyone keeps bringing up coconut milk. I love the one to one ratio! Feliz Navidad.🎄
I use this method with bacardi. Always comes out delicious!
Do you know why my coquito comes out with foam like at the top ?
@@cicialvarado143 Did you use a blender or did you blend the Coco Lopez?
Is Don Q stronger?
When you are making the coquito, you get buzzed, while making it. You say to yourself " I can't taste the rum , it needs more rum" LOL.
Exacto!
😂I agree😋
Always needs more rum!
I tried Coquito the first time about 10 years ago. My husbands family is Italian and my oldest son married a beautiful Puerto Rican girl from New Jersey. We are from Kentucky. He met her while in the Navy stationed in Spain. We visited her family in New Jersey and her Aunt made the Coquito. I was hooked. I make it every Christmas
It is addictive!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Love the video. Now I know how to make Coquito drink. and to tell you I’m not Puertorican. I’m full blooded Mexicana but love my Coquito.
I love it Martha!
Before I start making my Coquito, I put the cans of condensed milk and Coco Lopez coconut cream in hot water for about 10 minutes. Warning the cans makes it super easy to get every last drop of heavenly goodness out of both cans👍😁
That’s for this tip, I give it a try next time I plan on making it
I was going to put the coconut cream in the microwave or 30 seconds but your suggestion makes much more sense! Thanks for the tip.
Good idea. 😊
Some hero’s don’t wear capes 🙌🏽
That's what I do
This is awesome! I made Coqui many times with my grandmother and both ways with egg and w/o eggs. And Yes with out egg is Best way to me as well... My grandmother was born and raised in Ponce Puerto Rico. She said add some good spices and it'll spice it up a little bit more better. Lol! Grandmother's gotta love them 💞 She taught me the easy way 1 can of evaporated milk, 1 can condensed milk, 1 can coconut cream and 1 can of coconut milk. Spices to add a 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 1 teaspoon of ground cloves, 1/8 of nutmeg 😉😁 Very tasty 😋 I enjoyed your video. Thank you! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! I'm ready 2022 let's all show Love, Peace and Unity to one another 🌍✌🏽❤ We All Are One ☝🏽Blessings to All 🙏🏽 Thank God and thank you Abuelita 💓she's just turned 81 years onvThanksgiving Day 🦃 God bless her always and forever 🙌🏽😘
What a wonderful memory to have with your grandma. Wishing you a great new year.
Ms. Ana very nice reason to patronize this company I've been drinking this brand long time now, and others. I a Chef I've been a loud to do it fail or success is the model in commercial kitchens luckily they have approved my way. The next big thing sanitation is of the utmost. I've drank coquito with many brands l loved them all Thank God for creativity.! I have made it with Bacardi bottoms up Ms. Ana. !
I add coconut milk . 🥥
I use less evaporated make and a can of coconut milk
I also add coconut milk
And vanilla extract
I do both coconut milk and cream.
I just tried this recipe. And I was wondering does the coconut milk add more flavor?
Boricua!!! I make this exact recipe every year for my family and friends. I only use one can of evaporated milk though, and it taste incredible!! I always get people asking me to make more every year. I have to say it, DON Q all the way💜
Great video!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Do you use coconut milk or you omit it?
I'm so happy I found your channel! I love coquito. I'm Mexicana and I've made it a part of our Christmas tradition!
That makes me so happy!
I’m also starting incorporate it into our family tradition and I love it☺️ my family had no idea what it was until I made it
I make this every year but I put the cinnamon sticks in my bottle of rum and let it sit for three weeks. I use the whole bottle lol. Love the holiday spirits lol.
I definitely like that idea cinnamon stick in the rum bottle 3 weeks yeah that's the way I want to go thank you
Sounds like a go for me. Thank you
I come here every thanksgiving lol 😂
"Actually, I have another bottle" 😂 I love this
Always ready!
Open The Can Of Coco Lopez And Set The Can In Pan Of Hot Water.
Got it!
Mmmm good idea Paul C
That’s exactly what I do, shake well and it’s perfect!
I have also gently heated the Coco cream in a saucepan, warm it only to the temperature of a cool Puerto Rican Christmas, just enough to dissolve all the lumps away, and keep stirring.
Do you a recipe on your channel?? I make it every year but that curdle of the cream drive me crazy. So I’m gonna try this so open the can and then set it in boiling hot water?
Tremenda recèta te la comíste !!! Bravo 👏 👏 👏 👏 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Gracias!
WOW!!! I lived in PR for 9 years and always got a gift bottle for Christmas. After so many years here, I was looking for a recipe for a long time, a genuine one. Thank Ana it is wonderful. I love your energy and simpatia! Gracias, Carmen Segrera/Miami
We love you Ana, I use Bicardi too, I do a cinnamon and cloves tea and add to condensed and evaporated milk and coconut milk. Lopez milk is good.
I use Bacardi and coconut milk also plus a little vanilla.
Love ur personality
Thank you!
Errybady got dear own way of making it thank u for sharing you're mom recipi verry sweet of u 😋
Made my first batch last year and it was a hit!! Thank you for the recipe!!
I'm so happy for you.
Ana your mom's recipe is the BOMB! My family absolutely loves it!! I watched you make it on WGN! I'm Mexican and my husband is Puerto Rican & he makes it a point to get me all the ingredients the before December 😂
I love it!!! So glad you guys have made it a tradition.
On! Glad to hear cause I always do 1:1:1! Lol and I need to make a big batch. But want sure if that would cut the coconut flavor? That’s why I use a can of coconut milk and coconut cream as well.
This Coquito recipe looks so delicious Ana. How nice of your mom to share this recipe with you.
Wow!!!! My eyes went round and round and round. When you dipped the bottle to the bottom. Whew, go girl!
Go big or go home.
I fell of my chair when she said “I tell ya this is a Christmas Bomb” 😂😂😂😂😂😂!
But it is! LOL
😂😂😂 love how you add the Bacardi!! That's my kind of measurements!!!
Girl, Bacardi all the way love from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Yes, Bacardí has a nice characteristic to it, and the product is quality rum from Puerto Rico. Any way to support the Puerto Rican nation and its products and industries, that's the most important thing.
Lovely host. Pleasant to watch and learn!
I watch you every year. I love your humor. I live in Phoenix, AZ with my wife (non-Puerto Rican) but "Spanish" and twin daughters. I was born and raised in New York City so I guess that makes me a Nuyorican. I was raised in a typical Puerto Rican family; a ton of family, all living on top of each other. But I have a lot of great memories from that time in my life. My wife and daughters learned how to cook wonderful Puerto Rican food (all of my grandkids love tostones, and arroz con gandules). You have allowed me to bring some of our Christmas heritage to life during the holidays with your coquet recipe. Thank you! Feliz Navidad!!!
This made my day. Feliz Navidad!
Love "Coco Lopez" brand too!
I fill my sink with hot water and place the Coco Lopez can, unopened, in the water for at least 15 minutes or so.. then it'll come out in a liquid form.
I had this when I lived in Puerto Rico for a year. It makes everyone Merry. Thanks for the recipe.
It definitely puts the Feliz on our Navidad!
I love her !
Omg you’re hilarious! Me muero de la riza nena!! Saludos desde NYC 😂
I always place my cans in hot water before opening them and give them a good shake I also like to use captain Morgan spiced rum because I feel like it enhances the flavor but when I am making up for the family I stick to the Traditional Bacardi
Lol...I look at my children and tell them I love making coquito and sing while I'm pouring the Bacardi rum! Lmao!!! Love this!!
Thanhk you !
I’ve made this Coquito three times, yours is the best hands-down and every time I make it of course I give the larger ones to my family and as gifts!
I use spiced rum. It enhances the spices added and makes it tasty. I also add some coconut rum to pump up the coconut flavor
Sounds great!
Thank you for the recipe. I can't wait to make it 🙂
My pleasure 😊
I’ll be making it this weekend. 🎉
You will love it.
O Yeah, I married a Mamacita and try it and now makes it all the time. PS I put Puerto Rican dark and light rims . It’s Great 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤😊
Right on!
My recipe is 2x2x2x1!!
That is 1 for the bottle of Bacardi and if you want it with color add your favorite red wine too!!!
Ana te va a encantar!!!
Try it!
Saludos desde PR!!!🥰🎄💐
Love it, very similar to mine except my recipe calls for a “tea” that is 8 ounces of water boiled with cinnamon sticks and lemon peal. I also use Bacardi superior but i keep to two cups, plus some Bacardi 151 to taste.
We love you Ana!!
Si, alguna gente usa ese ❣️
Soy Boricua y lo hago igual y queda riquisimo. Feliz Navidad. y Prospero Año Nuevo. 2022.
Igualmente para ti.
"Let's hit it with the rum, people!"
I’m from NY and they sell this everywhere and I always, always use BACARDI cause that’s where’s the PARTY 🎉 LOL
I know, it's super easy to find in NY.
Where in ny?
Love the t-shirt!
Hello 👋, yes mine is like that too. Coco Lopez gets like that
.
That’s how the coco looks for me all the time I do the same blend it in the blender lol, Bacardi is my favorite that’s all I use even for Mojitos I’m PR Bacardi is the best ;)
Yesss more rum😃 we got the same recipe. Plus I add a tea done from cloves, ginger, cinnamon sticks, star anise and after making it all I grind nutmeg to taste. (i don't add the stick to the bottle its a bit annoying when serving)
Always more rum. This tea thing, I have to try it.
Your coquito MUST be SLAMMING!
So many flavor elements.
@@Salsero707 But you can add so many more flavors, though. Thanks.
Yes the tea adds a special flavor
So you grind the cinnamon sticks, the pieces of ginger, cloves and anise and blend with the liquids?
A Puerto Rican family in my neighborhood sells these bottles around Christmas. I purchased 2 for $45 and fell in love. Decided to try to save money by looking up the recipe and make it myself. I do 1 can each of the evaporated milk, condensed milk, coconut milk and the Coco Lopez, 2 tsp of vanilla, sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg and 2 cups of rum… delicious! Not Puerto Rican but this is now a holiday tradition!
That is awesome!
I use Bacardi gold with anything that requires rum. I’ve tried them all, I even visited Appleton estates and tasted them all (delicious and whoa! What a good time I had) but I find Bacardi gold to be richer and it’s my #1.
Great recipe, thanks! I add nutmeg, ground cinnamon and a little vanilla to mine.
Nice video presentation. I have a different coquito recipe in respect to the cans of milk ratio. I do the same method of pouring the rum (I use Barcardi too) and the taste testing. By the time I pour my coquito into the bottles I'm drunk 🥴😅.
looks good, can't wait to try it!
It's so good!
Bendiciones, eres Funny y una gran personality. Weppa ❤
Love this recipe! I sub one can of evaporated milk for one can of coconut milk. I like to garnish with ground cinnamon and a tiny pinch of clove. Pero I use Bacardi gold because ya tú sabes!!!
OMG, I switched the evaporated for the coconut milk yesterday, added nutmeg and powder cinnamon. WOW!!!! Game changer.
Hi, I too use Bacardi...and my coquito is delicious! However, I noticed you do not add coconut milk. I’ve come to realize that adding coconut milk makes the coquito even better.
Si eso mismo la leche de coco, coco molido y un cdt. De vanilla/almond omg let me know later 😋 🤤💪🇵🇷
Feliz Navidad!
I use Barcardi Coconut Rum and Coconut milk. I see you have a Vitamix blender too. Thats what I use to mix it all together. Tried the manual labor y mi cocina looked like yo estaba pintando. LoL Outstanding video. Felicidades.
@@felixdavilajr7821 I just used the Vitamix this year and it was a game changer.
Buen provecho !y va a ver buena celebración porqu tiene bastante Bacardi ! 👍🌹
Asi mismo es.
very fun to watch!
Damn....mi hija el ron! I'm buzzed just watching..lol
I know!
Where’s the vanilla, clavos and the coconut milk?🤔
This is a super simple recipe, you can add all that. I actually added coconut milk after so many of you suggested it and WOW!
Made it,super easy and taste great without the coconut clumps, thks
Glad you liked it
Beautiful way to honor your dad!
Thank you!
Yum! I think the thickener in the Coco Lopez settles after being stored for a long time. Warm it up, just a few seconds in the microwave. Then stir and it’ll be good to go.
Great idea, thanks.
We just made our 1st coquito and this recipe was delicious! Thanks Ana!
You are so welcome!
Hey. I love love love the recipe. Im Colombian and I am using ron viejo de Caldas and is delicious, thank you for sharing.
Sounds great! Que rico!
Looks awesome. I tried it for the first time in February 2020 during my visit to NYC. Your recipe is a quick n better way. Thank you frim Texas
I've ALWAYS used Bacardi 151, but now that it's no longer sold in the US, I use Don Q 151. As for the Cream of Coconut, yes the contents always solidify (remember that cocnut oil is a solid at room temperature), which is why I heat it gently over a low flame/heat and stir in all the contents. Really comes out nicely after that, no lumps or clumps even after refrigeration. WEPA!!!
Bacardi 151 was what my late aunt Marilu used. I didn't know they no longer sell it in the US.
En Target conseguí Bacardi para mi Coquito este año. Soy mexicana pero me encanta el
Coquito.
You mean it won’t gel even in the fridge? This is what I hate the most.
@@carmendriggs1965 If you treat it gently it will not gel even in the fridge. But watch your temperatures, I know when my Coquito has been pushed to the back of the fridge, it starts to freeze, so bear that in mind.
I use either condensed milk or coco Lopez I can't do too sweet I'm making mine tomorrow...I use coconut milk too...you'll going to be done lol
That's a great idea because it's a lot of sugar. I may follow your lead. Thanks for watching.
cream of coconut is a pretty important ingredient, other types of cream of coconut besides coco lopez tend to have a lot less sugar, like iberia, which only has 9g of sugar instead of coco lopez's 21g
@@Caxel108 I'm going to check that out because coquito has way too much sugar. Thank you.
This was so funny and informative.. I will be saving this and making it… pronto 💃💃💃
Yay! Thank you!
Omg I loved this video 😂❤ God bless you Mama 🙏♥️
❤️❤️❤️ always love
I would just put all the liquids in the blender. Save a dish and arm strength 😅
Omg your my PuertoRican auntie I never had. Love your page. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much 🤗I love that!
Que maravilla es ser
Puertorriqueño!
The line, "This rum basically put me through college." That got this video a like and you a subscribed!!!
I love it. Thanks and welcome.
Next time put the coco lopez in very hot water before you open the can, there’s nothing wrong with Bacardí blanco, it’s the one I use from an old school aunt of mine that taught me the recipe.
I love your personality so I will try your recipe. I'm making it for my clients so thank you
Hope you enjoy
Me encanto tu receta, lo mejor es todo el bacardi k le pusiste. Salud!
Soy generosa con el ron. Happy Thanksgiving!
Love your personality! Definitely subscribed. Hilarious with the amount of barcadi! But i dont find it controversial its Barcadi all the way
Thank you subscribing, Jose! Feliz Navidad!
Me watching for her husband's reaction in the microwave reflection: 👁👄👁
😂😂😂
He is cameraman and audience.
I love coquito....your recipe is so easy...the one I used before used 1 extra ingredient coconut milk..besides the crene
Love your energy. Love how you pour the Bacardi 😂 looks like me when I do mine. I just add some nutmeg, all spice and of course my spice tea and all comes out so delicious.
The trick to coco lopez is to shake it up before opening the can. Thank me later ;)
Yo me atrevo contigo Chris
Aye k Rico!!! Esa energía!! ❤️🇵🇷
Ay gracias!!!
I need an aunt like this in my life! Love it
They call me Titi Ana. Sending you a hug.
Thank you so much I'm gonna make some tomorrow wish me luck
Aww you made my thanksgiving so much fun watching yur video viva Puerto Rico mari to you happy thanksgiving
Thank u Mari. Happy Holidays!
Made it and everyone loved it……❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love to hear that it was a hit.
Recipe seems very simple. Coquito is delicious with flan
But don't get your blood sugar tested after that. ;)
Love it. I add smooth almond butter for proteina and clove and extra cinnamon. Un Coquito Bomba de Sabor ha
Sounds great!
Awesome!
First of all, I enjoyed watching watching this video. This is my first time making it. I’m making it for my friends birthday tomorrow but now tasting it, I might have to start the bottle tonight. Lol lol. Thanks for the instructions.
It's better the day after so make it tonight. Taste it for quality control. Put it in the fridge and bring it to your friends. Be safe.
Beautiful!!! Thank you ❤
Thank you too!
Awesome love it
That is awesome about Bacardi, I will buy this brand to support a corporation that treats their employees well. Coco Lopez is the best I use it too. Can't wait try making it this way. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy it!
I made it for the 1st time s few days ago. I mixed it all in a blender & added a little coconut then soaked raisins in the rum before adding to the bottle. Soooooo amazing good. My father in law lives in Puerto Rico
Sounds great!
I just saw and heard for the first time about this Jimmy Fallon I'm going to try and I just shared it with two of my family members can't wait
Let me know what you think.
Made this recipe for the first time and it was a hit!!! Thank you
