I don’t know whether you’ve delved into the topic in a prior video, but I’d be really interested in a « low-down » about the different phases of your PhD journey: the different milestones you have to achieved and when and what they entail (submitting your prospectus, your comp exams, candidacy, being a TA, field research, going abroad: why and for how long, etc). I’m not a US national but I find this riveting!
Kaelyn you have been a huge inspiration to me throughout my time in academia. I have just started my History PhD, but it's wild that I'm even here. Like you, I wasn't the best student before higher education. In fact I had a terrible time in school and didn't even want to go to college, but I went and I fell in love with history and now I'm here. In that vein, I think a TED talk on something within that realm would be really good because your story helped me believe it was achievable when younger me thought it wasn't 💕
I love when you excitedly go on a tangent about the books you're reading, like you did toward the end. More of that please, it makes me feel like I can nerd out alongside somebody 😄
You don’t get the amount of likes you deserve! I eat, sleep, pray for your blogs! And now I’m hype to see what your book reviews will end up being!! I just feel like you deserve so much more recognition!
Super excited to watch you prepare to transition into field research. Very inspiring. More personally, working on compiling a literature review for an honor's research project in economics. Looking forward to more exciting content into the spring. Well wishes this semester!
I just finished my Digital History MA in Early Modern England. I mostly focus on 15-1600 cultural history. I have gotten more into your channel to keep my historian brain moving and I love the vibe of your videos!
This semester I am most excited about being given the opportunity to shadow a professor of English and help aid them in their classes each week. I’m also super happy that I got a tutoring promotion of sorts so I’ll be making a tad more an hour for it and building towards privately practicing as well. My goals are to straight A my classes once again and find myself working out more times per week and building myself a healthier diet. Also going to bed before or by 10pm each night!
This week I'm working on an exam I have tomorrow on the Hittite language. My last exam is on the 9th and as much as I enjoy studying for exams, I'm really excited to start classes for the new semester. My classes seem really fun and interesting. :)
I'm so excited for you for this semester. I'm sure it's going to be a lot, but it's going to be so great and exciting for you. I'm looking forward to more book reviews in future videos. Personally in the next few months, I'm looking forward to figuring out what prints of my photography will go in an Etsy store, starting a website for my photography business, and finally getting to see if I got accepted to a rare book cataloging course in June (the application status is still processing).
@@KaelynGraceApple I'm currently taking a Jane austen class so we are reading her big 6 classics! I've never read her so I'm super excited to see all the hype!
Hear me out... episode one of "a discovery of witches" where the protagonist is doing archival research at the Bodleian. Is this what London redhead academic is gonna give???? I'm excited

Thats the dream 😉
Idk if anyone asked but can you share the name of the recommended book you mentioned (I’m assuming that it would help with teaching/pedagogy?)
Charles Dickens called Hillhouse Ave
The most beautiful street in America
Could you share the name of teaching book that Carolyn Roberts recommended? :)
New word learnt: ‘abolition’.
I have always heard it, and referred to it, as abolition. Unless they are different processes that I am confusing?

I just hope I’m hired as a tutor and earn something.
It’s very rewarding! I got “promoted” this semester to a drop in tutor for my community college and it pays well! Good luck!
