- The most famous Bestevaer besides Gerry Dykstra's own perhaps is for sale! 'Tranquilo' is an aluminium Bestevaer 56, built in 2007 at our yard in Makkum. The owner sailed her single handed twice around the world and twice through the Northwest Passage. Now that he is sailing on his new KMY built custom expedition yacht, it's time to sell Tranquilo. The yacht has a classic appearance from the outside, but the interior is modern and contemporary. Her lift keel ensures entrance into smaller bays and harbours. Thanks to her water ballast and carbon rig her sailing performance is excellent with ca 180-200nM per day on average. She has been refitted extensively over the past year with a new hull paint, new antifouling, check of the hydraulics, keel and rudder, teak deck re-sanded, new rod rigging and more. Having sailed almost 150.000nM she is a proven yacht, fully outfitted and ready to go out again with her next owner.

Come on you guys this is a proven boat. Twice around the world 150,000 nautical miles, and still looks brand new. Obviously built and designed to last and looks like a dream. I wish I could own it.

KM beautiful built for sure, amazing yacht! For the interior I was expecting larger being a 56 ft. Love the modern minimalist style but that is very subjective. Maybe the reason for smaller than usual accommodations is the fact that the yacht has larger storage? Not sure. Regardless, it is awesome.
I think it's partly the storage, but mostly down to the fact that mass-produced boats designed with an eye on the charter market dominate the sailing media. These types of boats sacrifice a lot of performance (and some seaworthiness) to gain more internal volume for guests. Sailboat-Cruising.com had a great piece on this subject, but it's behind a paywall now.

Beautiful boat. The interior is different. Everyone is entitled to their own taste in what a yacht interior should be. Personally, I find that most yacht interiors look like 5 star hotels. That's just my opinion: it's neither right or wrong. As long as the owners are happy, that's all that matters . I would love to know which new boat the owner has bought. To sail around the world is a dream of mine. I'm very jealous (in a good way) of the adventures the owners have had in this yacht and the ones to come in the future.
Gorgeous and powerful boat. If I were to buy her I’d want the warmth of a bit more wood below. But I know some people appreciate that all white aesthetic. Other than that the security of a proven go anywhere boat that could take me all the places I wish to go and then I could still easily sell her afterwards. Notice, I didn’t say I’d recoup what I paid...as a previous boat owner I know that never happens.

The owners lived and learned by their mistakes and here's the result .More money than sense ,build quality top notch style a mish mash.A radiator positioned to burn your legs !! Nice.
Beautiful raised pilothouse but it seems useless? The only way to utilize the wonderful 360 view is standing on the companion way ladder? Would be great if the chart table was raised into the pilothouse to also serve as a steering station?
In this case the pilot house is indeed not a pilot house as most of our yachts have where you can sit inside and navigate. This owner chose for more interior space down below because a pilot house does take up some space.

For an expedition boat I'm surpised that the aluminium hull is painted, also for the deck I prefer treadmaster over teak. I wonder if the new yacht will have a deck saloon/nav station better cockpit protection and aft cabin / quarter cabin(s).
The yacht was built for the Carieb and Med and only after a few years the owner decided he wanted to go exploring. The new yacht is completely different in style, look and lay out. A true expedition yacht.

Lots of beautiful yachts being built. Opposite my yacht is a swan 54. Awesome below. The timber is like a mirror. Too nice to sail in the ocean with salt and wet and damp smelly people. Hehehe. I live on my 44 ft beneteau and there are magnificent boats but far too much timber . I like an easy life. Too much maintenance with timber. Other problem is timber gets hotter than fiberglass. But yes some of the boats i visit are magnificent.
Very nice..The exterior of the boat is amazing, but the interior is going to need some warming up with mahogany details..No problem..my especiality.
What the new owner wants to do with the interior is up to him/her. Some people actually like the modern style :-)
@@KMYachtbuilders The problem with such a stark interior is that it will show every little blemish, stain and chip which will detract from the boat. If you look carefully in the video you can see little knocks and damage so some work to do. Aegle represents a much better compromise of style and modernity but Kite is hard to fault for her classic interior.
@@peterhaslam-brunt4154 Yes, it's true you will see more on a sleek and clean interior then on a classic one. But also keep in mind she has 150.000 miles under her keel, so some scratches and damages can be expected.
Yes as a long time sailor it’s a rather odd design but seems suited to a long range cruiser for 2 However the decks are dangerous with more toe snubbers and trip items than I have ever seen You want flush clean decks as much possible going forward in heavy wx at night I do not want to have to worry about what I might get tripped up by . This is based on my 60 years on the water
Never having sailed before but interested and researching the last year..Why would anyone not like an enclosed pilothouse option? Deck saloon. Seems like it would make more sense in cold climates..
Hi. The yacht was initially not built to be sailing in cold climates, but was more a Med/Caribean kind of yacht. After a few years however, the owner wanted to explore more and started sailing in cold climates. If you have a look at our other yachts you'll find that 95% of them have a pilot house or deck salon.

Some people prefer to have a painted hull instead of the bare aluminium.
@@KMYachtbuilders Some others prefer to bring their money to the warft capable to build the perfect hull and not wasting it in boring maintenance.
Great ships are created by great woodworks/great aluminium works, great sail making and great ropes. Paint is made to cover less great work.
@@peterebel7899 Please have a look at our other yachts at our website or other social media channels and you'll find that 90% of our yachts are unpainted and have a bare aluminium hull. If someone prefers a painted hull for esthetic reasons who are we to say 'no'?

I had once the chance to visit your warft to get an impression of your great work.
I'ld take every unpainted hull of your production used after decades even without being consulted by an expert.
I will never understand the customers of the 10% in "stealth mode" (imitating a plastics boat color). Your warft is possibly the world's best when it comes to seaworthy yachts.
The interior is going to need a lot of work. Looks like they ran out of money and installed the mock-up?.

Zero ergonomics applied to the interior. From large scale layout for example that long smooth wall facing the galley to the small scale of the switch panel which is arranged in a meaningless grid. Not built for humans to operate optimally. I'm certain she's a very capable yacht but the interior is very naive.

This boat was not tidy in my view. I tried but could not find it neat or likable...the music was ghastly...made it worse ...a very untidy craft....sorry....the interior was to white, not nautical.
