Naaah, the Switch fan is so quiet, I honestly even forget it has one, until I accidentally put my hand over it and feel the wind that it makes. The only times I've barely heard any noise outta it, was in docked mode
@ I remember when I was a kid I would play the Splatoon 2 splatfest for an hour then I would take the switch out of the dock to change things up and the fan was SOOOOOO loud Apparently, the switch’s fan barely works when in docked mode that’s why there’s add-ons that you can buy or 3-D print
Its funny how bottlenecks shift and change. On the N64 especially they added fog to hide the deficiencies in render range, yet they removed the fog in this game on Switch presumably to save memory bandwidth.
as someone who just got done playing 3 almost 4 hours of it? yeah it’s very playable!! i only got 1 mini lag spike so far and that’s it!! (i’m in midtown tap and i didn’t get lag there) i will say i’m sad with the lighting but if you don’t focus hard you can’t really notice a difference
Switch = 30fps PS5=60fps. i would take the PS5 version any day even if they looked identical. PS5 has so much more details but switch version does look good too considering the HW.
@Jonny._. I mean, my TV still caps at 30fps and unless I want to spend around 500+ on a TV most do as well. Some tech became so advanced to push tech sales it isn't actually needed. Such as anything above 60fps or 4K most human eyes can't detect it.

I can not stand playing 30fps on my big oled TV`s , but on the small switch screen 30fps looks noticeable smoother. Oled TV`s looks terrible when running games lower than 60fps. I had to play Breath Of the Wild on the switch screen because i found the 30fps on my oled`s unbearable. So i need to think about what screen type im going to play the game on before i choose what console to buy the game on. I hope that switch 2 will bring us fidelity and performance modes so we can pick what suits us the most compared to what screen types we are playing our games on. Switch games that have 60fps are preferable to me personally.

Nope. Graphics means a lot in real gaming. But that dosen't mean high quality. It can also be nostalgic or childich. That's the top reason why so many people like nintendo. These graphics reminds them of the childhood and they are ready to pay a lot to experience that again.
Thank god I have a gift. I can only remember and notice difference when looking at games on different systems at once otherwise I can't remember and notice it at all. So I always have a great time playing and enjoying my games. This game looks great on every system.

It does not. It's all simpler and blurry, but it seems that to compensate the lack of correct lightning, fog and texture details they increased the saturation and the overall contrast to be more pleasant looking.
If this was a simultaneous release and i got it on Switch, i would not be disappointed, it looks just fine. Not impressive, but portable wins every time
The graphics have improved since this port was first unveiled. The only thing I would change would be to increase the fog to make the atmosphere be a closer match to the PlayStation version.
Not bad at all, but the game was not the most taxing game on the PS5 in the first place and it not being 60fps definetly makes it feel less realisitc in this case. Still, the Switch 2 should be able to remedy that.
24fps is movie standard, but I get wanting a more immersive and hence more smooth picture in a game. Still, the Switch version is more than favorable especially considering what we mostly have been getting in terms of Switch ports
Very impressive port! I actually think it has a more natural look without the volumetric lighting and fog. In some of the comparison scenes PS5 reminds me of when you play an old 3D game on emulator in hi res, and it looks sharper but the polygons look more pointy and flat in places.
The graphics are notably and understandably worse but that's fine, still pretty good for the hardware. But the framerate seems kinda not so good, it does not look a stable 30.
24 fps with no lighting so 80 % of the time you will strain your eyes to make out the cat, it is a decent effirt but nintendo shouldn't have cheaped out on a garbageheap tegra x1
PS5 is obviously better but it runs really well for Switch’s hardware. In some areas I actually prefer the lighting and art style limitations of the switch version
If you have a switch and a ps5 and have been meaning to get this, get it on ps5. I think that goes without saying. If you think this is a game that would be fun to play on the go with the switch and think the graphical compromise is okay, i still wouldn't get it on switch. This game is definitely best played when you can give your full attention to it sitting down for an hour or so. If you have only a switch, then 100% get this awesome game. It WILL surprise you with how deep it gets.
Surprisingly Switch holds up well. One of the advantages of 7 -year old hardware is that developers now know system inside out. However, when Switch 2 arrives, it will take lots of time, years, for games to look noticable better than PS5.
It's impressive that they got it running at all, but MAN, we really need some new hardware! The Switch is getting pretty long in the tooth and despite good optimization, the games are starting to suffer.

Alien Isolation is a PS3, Xbox 360, and mobile game. The Switch definitely was easier to target. This port is impressive, but I keep saying this, it's kinda crazy you're paying full price for this version. The Switch successor cannot come sooner.

That's not really the point though, the Switch port is impressive for the hardware constraints of a portable console from 2017 and is a minimal compromise if one desires a portable version of this game

The artstyle coloration us better on Switch but the rain is dependent both rain can be realistic. If it's raining extremely hard it's foggy but if it's just a normal rain it's not foggy😅.

Much lower resolution and less polygon detail but I actually kinda prefer the Switch lighting. I never really cared for some of the soft shadowing or volumetric lighting newer games added. I like the way 7th gen graphics blended with the art, outside of their resolution/framerate issues.
Cue the comments acting like them not caring for obvious graphical differences is the same as them not being that noticeable. It's not Mortal Kombat I levels of downgrade, but those beautiful atmospheric effects really got nuked.

In a way I prefer some of the Switches downgrading of effects. The fog got quite distracting on the PS5. I preferred the more contrasty look of the Switch. Obviously there is some drastic LODing going on but overall the Switch is pretty dam impressive here.
This looks great actually; I mean considering the Switch is basically a 10 years old hardware in specs. My only complain would be the "auto retopology" is pretty rough in some scenery. But I guess being a small studio they didn't have the budget nor time to lift everything from the ground up again. 8/10 in looks and feel, all in all things considered.
All things considered they did a good job adding Stray to the Switch.

Although the difference in detail is quite significant (at least for me), it’s certain that they’ve done an excellent job for the Switch.
