    Marini Harps did release a 30x2 extended bass model of this harp very recently. Significantly more expensive of course, but still pretty light due to the narrow design. I definitely have my eye on it as I've yet to touch a double strung harp but do want some rich bass notes.

    What a great sound! No dead space on the soundboards of this harp. I love the design!

    I'm so happy for you! I have a Marini "Hallel" model and I absolutely love the loud voice of the small harp. I know you're in for a fun journey with this one! Wonderful video, as always :)

      It's such a beautiful harp - I've looked at the Hallel as well, so gorgeous! 😊

    So excited to watch this vid. I've been to the Marini's house, and tried their harps. They are the dearest people; they hadn't developed this one, back then.

      It really does have such a huge sound! I was shocked, but those vertical soundboards sound amazing every time I hear them 😊

    Watching this video was the first time I saw the Marini Made Double and I fell in love! As luck would have it, I am now the happy owner of this very harp. That's right, it's the one you originally purchased, Molly!! Unfortunately, the person I just purchased it from didn't include any of the original papers that Marini might have sent with the harp. This is a complete long shot, but I'm wondering if you have any of the paperwork, such as the string gauge chart and other info the Marinis might have sent. In any event, love the harp and love your channel. I think your videos about tongue drums are also part of what propelled me down another musical road to the RAV Vast. :-) EDIT - paperwork is on its way now from the person who sold me the harp.

    We actually talked about me taking up harp at one point. I finally decided that it was one of those instruments I’ll just enjoy listening to rather than learning. I still have several others I’m learning. I did gain insight watching your videos on the levers on top, though. When I took orchestration years ago, only the full sized harps were covered.

      I think music programs need to do a better job of educating composers about folk instruments - but then I'm a bit biased by my love for them 😅

      @@MusicalMollyKhan I wonder sometimes if my classical training has hindered me in my folk learning. I still will pick up anything and try to play it, so I haven't lost my curiosity.

    Thanks for your video. I wonder why there are the same tones playable on both sides. What sense does it make? Nornally double strung harps have different pitches on each side.

    IF you could afford it, I would like you to try the Luna Travel Harp by Tremer Harfen, in Germany... The design is somewhat similar...

      There is! I believe Marini makes a scissor stand, but I did not purchase it because I prefer to use the strap 😊

    Had a harpsicle with Rees levers and I wondered how people could do those quick lever changes in the middle of a piece. Then I got a Musicmakers harp with Camac levers, and now I know. They are much easier to flip and the action is much smoother than the Rees. The Rees are great if you want to set a key and play, but if you want to play accidentals, the Camac levers are superior.

    • @MusicalMollyKhan
      @MusicalMollyKhan  2 роки тому

      I think this is definitely a thing. I can do quick changes with my Rees levers, but only one at a time, as I find I have to sort of grab the neck and flip the lever with my thumb to be really quick 😊
