National City: Crazed Male Arrested by the Police 09122021

LOCATION: 700 E. 24th St (Social Security Admin Bldg)
CITY: National City
DETAILS:
Police received several calls of a homeless male throwing rocks at passing cars on E. 24th Street. The male then took a long red pole and started to attack and swing the pole at pedestrians.
When officers arrived, they found the male in the parking lot and he aim a NERF gun/rifle at the officers. The suspect then dropped the NERF gun and ran across the street to a homeless camp. He grabbed a motorcycle helmet from the camp and put it on and then tried to hide with the two homeless people in the camp in an alley between Highland Ave & G St.
The Police were able to take the male into custody after surrounding him.
The suspect appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic and will be taken to a local hospital to be checked out and then transported to the County jail.
Don't do tweak guys. The evidence is overwhelming out there with all the homeless that that drug will make you crazy and homeless in no time.
Really? Are you sure? What about just a little taste? I'm sure it won't hurt anything! I've watched normal people turn into total creeps that would literally buy /sell / steal from their friends and family members. Just say No, okay?

Imagine how much taxpayer money could be saved if we got all these addicts and mentally ill off the streets and into some kind of treatment. The police, fire and paramedics must spend the majority of their day dealing with these people. Not to mention all the trips to emergency rooms.

Go to the Midway district. The Homeless are always casually shooting up in the bus stops and exposing themselves to traffic, also violently threatening people and walking out in front of oncoming cars. But its california so i guess "it is what it is" huh? 😅😅
Yes they are. Rosecrans and midway intersection always has the 4 corners filled with panhandlers.
The Midway / Rosecrans district has always been a dump and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Supposedly there is a plan to clean the place up but we shall see. Gonna take years. Be careful at every intersection down there because there is always some tweaker walking against the light with a shopping cart full of garbage and a pit bull with a jump rope around its neck.

CA Welfare and Institutions Code Section 5150 allows a peace officer to take any person into civil custody for 48 hours, that is a danger to themselves, a danger to others or gravely disabled, Transport said individual to a place of mental examination and confinement.
The suspect could of been arrested for Section 11550 Health and Safety Code, any person under the influence of a controlled substance.
