*No. You should 100% choose based on which size you like. That's it. Even if there are benefits to one or the other, you will DREAD carrying around the wrong size. Trust me. Been there, done that.*
True . Bought the max model because everyone was forcing me due to its battery and screen . I finally bought it and felt so bad . It’s so heavy and so difficult to use with one hand . Had to sell it for 200$ loss and switched to 14 pro . I still think about my loss but it’s better than regretting for wrong choice

Same here. Bought a 13 pro max and just couldn't tolerate its size. I was coming from an s22 ultra too. Returned within the 2 two week return policy and went back to my ultra. Just got a Flip 4 and a 14 Pro. Love 'em both.

I was a Plus user for years. I swore by the Plus phones. But when I upgraded to the Face ID phones, I got the smaller ones. I don’t regret it. Currently I have the smaller 13 Pro and I love it. It’s so pocketable and great to type on with one hand. I have an iPad if I absolutely need a larger screen. Today we are surrounded by screens, and we don’t always need to have the biggest one we can buy.
You can charge the 14 Pro if necessary, but you can’t shrink the 14 Pro Max to make it more comfortable to hold and carry.

with there being so many great USB battery (some even with Magsafe) options available these days at prices less than the cost difference between a 14 Pro vs 14 Pro Max, I don't understand why someone would pick a larger phone because it has better battery life. If you want the Max for the bigger screen, sure. But for battery, even a small external battery is gonna get you SO much more battery life than the difference between 14 Pro vs 14 Pro Max.
As a lifelong Pro Max/Plus phone user because I felt like I couldn’t bear to have lesser battery, I’ve never been happier with getting the iPhone 14 pro instead this time. The feel in hand with the smaller size is just so much more comfortable. The battery life ain’t that big of a deal.
That’s what I’m saying, I got the 14 pro max and for the iPhone 15 imma probably go with the pro bcos like you said it’s just a touch too big, I prefer to have the more comfortable one hand experience
The problem with battery only arises in unexpected situations so it's better to have that extra juice

It's great you did a heat test! One of the issues I have with my current phone is it gets to hot during the summer to hold. So much so it's uncomfortable to use. I wish more channels would do heat tests in their reviews too! :)
As long as there is a similar speced option, I will always choose the smaller one. Switched from 11P to 14P and even this size different needed some time to get used to. I still miss 5.7“, it was easy to reach everything without turning the hand in a weird way
Agreed. The 5.8 display on the iPhone X was perfect. I love the Mini too, but the X was a perfect balance.
Yes 11Pro is the best size ever with 5.7” and way better to hold with rounded edges! The 12-14P are too big and waaay too heavy i’m still strugling to get used to my 13Pro heavy ass

Great review, but just wanted to comment on the speed test. That is a flaw in comparison only due to the fact that although you are “pinging” off the same destination server, there may be different paths which the device may take to get there based on traffic load, and hence may take different hops.

@max tech, i found one bug, put aipods and on live listen .. lock 🔒 phone and try to unlock… it hangs and home button stops in middle of the screen and screen stops working.. this bug in stable version of IOS 16.0.1. Plz check
How would the battery life be on the 14 Pro if you turned off the always on display? I most likely will not be turning it on if I were to upgrade from my 11 PM

Ordered my 14pm 512 gb today 💃🏾 upgrading from a 12pm 126 gb
I take a lot of pictures and videos and I do a lot of pic/video editing on the phone as well, since I don’t have a Mac computer. So that means I need a big screen, more memory etc. I’ve gotten so used to the size of the 12pm, so the 14 pm will be a breeze! So no other phone will do but the pro max for my usage!
I’m excited! Seeing this video definitely confirmed my decision!😄
0:r6 That's the thing. Why is it so difficult to install a navigation bar , with which one can e.g. Has the button so that you can go directly to the shortcuts, such as bluetooth WLAN brightness etc?
Why do you always have to swipe down from the top of your phone, why can't you just install a navigation bar at the bottom? Or optionally on and off?

2nd day with promax 14. I charged overnight monday 10/3/22. tuesday 10/4/22 8am 100% bat lasted until 3pm wednesday 10/5/22. On tuesday it used 70% so i had 30% when I went to sleep tues night 10:15pm. it only lost 3% overnight. wed 10/4 8:am with 27% lasted to 3pm when phone died. about 32hours id say about 7 hours screen on time day one and another 4 1/2on day two. The rest was idle and playing music in the car and phone calls. I did use it. I was on the phone adding apps. learning how to use it. watching videos etc. did not plug in until it was completely dead. Also "always on display" on. using an all black wallpaper for home and lock screen. All those complaints about it being too bright I did not find that with autobrightness. From absolutely dead to boot up took 1 min and it had 1%. I checked the charging speed and times. It starts off fast but then really slows down. i got to from 1% to 28% in 15mins, 55% in 30mins, 74% in 45mins, 80% in 55mins, 83% in 60mins, 91% in 75mins, 93% in 80mins, 95% in 90mins, 97% in 100mins, 98% in 110mins and 100% in 120mins. peak charge speed drops off after 80% 55mins. So if you are topping up , after 80% just go. waiting around for the last %s will take ages. i hope my nerdy/ocd testing helps.
I went from the 11 promax to the 14 Pro and honestly it didn’t take that much to adjust. I actually like the feel of this phone a lot better. And some of those things to me are unnecessary like the always on display or have them brightness all the way up and stuff like that I just feel like it just drains the battery in the speakers are pretty decent to me I just feel like if you have the 14pro already there’s no point in upgrade into the Pro Max.
Is the 6.1 inch really the best size of iPhone even if you have big hands ?

5G mid-band speeds may be reduced for the iPhone 14 Pro either because of a lower maximum power amplifier output which would help battery life at the expense of throughput or it may be due to the antenna diversity that can be achieved because of the smaller form factor. Other reasons are possible too. At least Apple did not limit the throughout for the Max version so both 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max versions have the same throughout.

@@just_a_jokebro3465 In many areas 5G is going to be slow due to the use of Dynamic Spectrum Sharing which allows 5G and LTE to share spectrum except LTE traffic must be prioritized by the cell site because it is completely unaware and undesigned to do this. This results in 5G at best being on par with LTE where DSS is employed without sufficient spectrum for 5G. In metro areas where dedicated mid-band or high band spectrum can do heavy lifting this is less of a problem. Also, Verizon is using its only 850MHz spectrum from 3G CDMA for 5G but AT&T is a bit of a mixed back. With 3G more or less completely dead on Verizon and going that way for AT&T it wont bee like this for to long but still.
With a lot of videos on UA-cam, I noticed that I can a zoom to fill and it goes around my island and everything

You are ABSOLUTELY right. I switched from 12 Pro Max to 14 Pro this May, for the past 3 months I notice that the battery life is much worse than I'd expected, it's not unusable but for me it's very frustrating for a device this expensive. And the Internet connection is bad as well, the wifi becomes weaker from not a very far distance and the cellular is not good either. The camera burst rate is even worse than my 12 Pro Max, after like 20-30 Live Photos it starts to slow down and needs to be cool down. I finally decide to sell my 14 Pro and go with the larger 14 PM. The 14 PM is really bulky and heavy but for the extra battery life, screen size and heat decipation I have no other choice.
0:52 I also have a 6.5-inch Huawei with a case with a ring in the middle and I can use the phone with almost no problems with one hand because of the case and because of the navigation bar that is attached at the bottom, which allows me to use the notification bar and the shortcuts easily WITHOUT having to stretch my fingers all the way to the top of the phone screen.
I know it sounds absolutely like amazing technology, just seemingly unimaginable for Apple

The island doesnt cut into the image as long as the content you watch is in the 16:9 aspect ratio, which most content is. At least thats how it works for me on the pro max.
I came from the 12 pro Max to the 14 pro. The battery comparing the 2 models are kind of the same, just a little bit better for the 14 pro. Although it will not last from 6AM-9PM if I have to charge it around 6PM that would be fine for me. If you are someone who is constantly traveling or out of your house all day you might find a little bit annoying having to often charge but you can get a portable charge as well.
For me it is not that big deal and I’m happy with the smaller size.
Do your phone get heated frequently too?
@@koladeayoku3592 The only time it would get warmer is when I’m watching a video in UA-cam or any other app and I have multiples app open like Lightroom, safari, Instagram and I spend some time going on all the apps and it’s keep the video playing.
It is not often of course, but that’s the only time I noticed it.
What about the cameras? Does pro max has any advantages? I think I saw a smoother zoom mode regarding switching between the lens
@@MIchaelSybi well the only two differences between the pro Max and the pro is the screen and battery size both phones have the exact same cameras the only difference is the battery and the screen size
If those phone went any different direction before speed test you could get variance based on towers and handoff
Just got the 14 pro and soooo happy. With it was gonna go for the max but don’t like the bulky size
Pro tip that I'm surprised more reviewers don't talk about. Turn your phone to dark mode. Turns the OS mostly black instead of mostly white. OLED screen means those pixels aren't using any power. Boom overcompensation for the always on display. My 14 pro max lasts 2 days with average usage and I literally have to try my best to kill it in one day with extreme usage and pretty high brightness.

Hence why I love OLED screens. Also they make nice mirrors even when turned on. Just find a black spot on the screen. lol
With regards the heat test. I have an Iphone pro 11 and an Ipad mini. Find that when using Kindle and accessibility app ( reads content aloud) that phone starts to run hot….so end up swapping between phone and Ipad. Do you think Max heat disappation would assist. I use my phone a lot to read at night in bed. Torn between smaller 14 pro and max.
For me, day to day usability and portability is paramount and the Max is just too large. Just like you, I hate the fact that the larger phone is so much better but I simply don't like carrying it around when I'm not wearing a jacket.

I have chosen to go with the 14 PM, I love the smaller one BUT, you took the words right out of my mouth. The benefits from the PM out weight the smaller form factor of the PRO. Speaker, battery, gaming, video all mean more to me.

I really need the small size since it does look stupid to have a brick in the pocket when you wear a suit. For battery usage I turned the always on display off, then it easily lasts a day.
I got the iphone 14 pro bcs i hate how big the pro max is and i was worried about the battery dying quickly and i use my phone alot through out my day and i havent faced any major battery issues i had an iphone 13 and honestly battery wise i think that theyre the same good enough for me about 7-8 hours on screen a day
Same with me, I liked the size of the 14 Pro but just seeing the battery difference I changed my mind, and after seeing all this I'm happy.
The one thing that’s so difficult to choose between the 2 is definitely the battery. Otherwise, both the Pro and Pro Max are pretty much identical

I’m envious of those who can easily decide what they like better- for whatever reason. I’m pretty close to center on the issue and after having two pro max phones for the last 3 years decided it was time for the smaller phone. Yes I miss the crazy battery and beautiful screen but I am really enjoying the smaller form factor and honestly I’m pretty much always near power should the need arise.

The 14 Pro is more suitable for everyday carry. Whereas the 14 Pro Max is more suitable for watching p0rn while away from home.
I used the 14 pro max and quite satisfied! I upgraded from a second hand XS Max.
I had a 12 pro max and have just bought the 14 pro standard size, and I absolutely love it and will never move back to the larger phone. These issues that have been raised in the video are probably true but in reality who cares! The always on display for me is a waste of time and I just turned it off, so any battery issues have just been saved because I’m not wasting the battery with that pointless feature.
I have the xs max and I wanna go for the pro but I’m scared I won’t like it because it’s smaller :/

@@SD-ph6cr I have both 8p and 14 pro, 8p’s the overall size is bigger, and 14 pro has a slightly bigger screen. I have compared 8p to 14 promax in the Apple Store, similar overall size.
That point about the speaker is spot on. The 14 pro Max’s speakers are close to Bluetooth speaker levels. The quality and volume is insane.

Very nice video with good info. Nothing is better than the feel that your phone is ready for use without any compromise and no second thought of battery draining on usage. That mental comfort is huge and 6.1" is no where a smaller phone. The updates now a days are seeking more battery life and my thought of buying an iPhone is for a minimum span of 3 years. To satisfy this scenario, pro max is the way to go and 256GB is preferable.

Between 14pro and 14pro max, I had the same trouble as you on which one to choose. 2-3 days after purchasing 14pro max, I felt my wrists getting stressed and uncomfortable. Therefore! I bought 14 pro yesterday and thought, "It's what I want. It's a little lighter than Pro Max, and the size fits in one hand. Perfect!" However..! I felt the speed of using the battery different enough to feel it. It feels like the percentage doesn't change very much with Max, but feels like the pro's battery lose fast like water flowing from a cup . Also, even though the Dynamic Island sizes are the same, the two display sizes are different. My eyes couldn't focus on the video with the 14Pro. The dynamic island is proportionately too large for the size of the display, but with Pro Max I felt the ration of display and dynamic island was very nice. thank you for this objective video. It helped me clearly choose which one to use. I will probably return the 14pro today. 😃
I also bought both on trial. Agree with all of this 100%. Battery life on the 14 Pro Max is stupid long.

I think once the iPhone Pro battery reaches the same longevity as the 13 Pro Max, that would be the time to down size from the max to the regular pro. Hopefully that is the case with the 15 Pro.
The 13 Pro Max felt (still feels) like its above the 14 Pro. Its just the perfect apple phone.

Having had a 7p and now a 12pm the large size is not an issue because it's the same.
Here in China nearly everyone uses a big phone. Unless you're driving you'll use 2 hands any way and using a single handed phone while driving is the fast lane to heaven!!!

I’m okay with charging my iPhone 14 Pro if need be if it means I don’t have to sacrifice comfortability for a better battery. The Max is so heavy and bulky. Not very pocket friendly.

I got iPhone 14 pro this year had it week had to change it for pro max the battery is pretty poor on standard pro iam big user had to charge it twice a day pro max still 35 % at end of day and the island dint look great on smaller screen that’s just my opinion

What was the shooting game?
I went from an 11pro to 14pro. The Max just wasn't enticing. as others said.. I'm around to much power all the time where batteries have a chance to drop to worrisome levels.. And then in my case my 11pro only had 79% of battery capacity, so anything new would of been a bonus.
Also the reception seems interesting.. in side of a concrete restaurant.. my 14pro was pulling about a gigabit on 5ge.. The test should of detailed which cellular network.. as that is also a factor.
Coming from samsung i was worried about battery but wanted small phone so went for pro. I must say, oh my god… Battery is crazy good

Im worried about switching over and got the same. I had all the galaxy notes. My last was the note 9. I did it for facetime with the family
I have to go with the ultimate top of the line when it’s time to upgrade there’s never a consideration for me when it comes down to upgrade I will always and forever get the Max version as long as it’s still a thing.

Thanks I’ve already brought the 14pro max before I saw your video the reason I brought it I struggle to see the max I can see I like the brightness daytime and nighttime features as hard of hearing at time volume is great after a couple of weeks I got used to the weight it fast still getting used to Dynamic Island functions thanks again great video my age 62.

Yeah I feel like we are moving towards bigger phones even us previous outliers. It’s just better for the kind of content we consume/use on the phone. Two handed use has become better for the kind of things we do with smartphones these days. And this is coming from someone who prefers smaller phones.

Honestly, the gaming doesn’t bother me because if I wanna play any type of games on the go, I have my switch or steam deck. My phone is apparently watch videos, order stuff and talk and text and social media and the games I do play on it aren’t that demanding

If you're a normal person and don't have your phone is your face every minute of the day. The 14 pro will last all day. By normal I mean text, email, and actual phone calls. I only do UA-cam and Reddit for social media. My phone last all day with charge to spare and fits in my pocket.
Yea, but these newborns don't take their eyes off it. I don't think even a 15k mAh battery can't save them 😂
The cellular Reception difference is due to the bigger size of the max. The antenna is longer thus better at picking up and getting signal

14 Pro Max because I'm 81 and my eyes want to shoot and edit on a bigger screen. Utility photographer and occasional videographer shooting in school classrooms, also stage events, meetings, interviews, music rehearsals, scenics, etc.. Would LOVE the smaller phone for "handiness" while shooting, but the advantages of the Pro Max are very real for me.

I went with the larger phone, upgrading from an iPhone 8, the main reason I chose it is long term battery health, I only upgrade my phone once every 5 years at a minimum, so I want it to last as long as possible, and at the point the battery starts decaying, the price to replace it is more than the phone is worth. my current battery life is about 4 hours of low use, with about an hour if im navigating or something. Battery health is 69% (nice) and its all but cooked, however replaing said battery is just not worth the cost on the old device.
in theory the larger battery from said larger phone means that when the health starts to decrease, the phone will still be useable without having to leave the house with.a power bank, and carrying both a phone and a power bank in my pocket is already more bulk than the iPhone 14 pro max will ever be.
having big hands helps a bit, but im perfectly okay with a 2 handed phone, which is pretty much what that is.
