I had the exact same progression. After getting my X I told myself I wasn’t upgrading until I saw a noticeable difference in the notch. Excited to have a phone with a new battery 😅
Marques, does not appear humble at the slightest, Mrwhosetheboss is humble. Marques always gives this vibe of superiority and elitist. To him, status is everything and his belief that all other android manufacturers are for the unwashed masses. His friends in the other hand do come across as humble.
the waveforms throughout ios 16 are also actual waveforms, it matches the frequency and amplitude of whatever’s playing which as an audio engineer makes me really happy
At this point I don't think most people don't update to the new phone every year like they might 10 years ago with how much more expensive they are, so for me the 14 pro is a huge step up from the phone I bought 4 years ago.
I disagree. I know plenty of people that barely use their Iphone but they always upgrade for the single reason that it's the new Iphone. I've seen plenty of them have to return it because they can no longer afford paying for it because their lifestyle doesn't allow a yearly Iphone upgrade but they have to have it anyway.
I suppose it depends on what your arrangement with a carrier is. There’s certain plans here in Australia where you can upgrade every year for a (relatively) small fee, but you hand the previous phone back. But for most people I completely agree. Carriers have generally moved to a 36-month contract to reduce the sticker price on their phone/plan bundles (it’s standard here that you have a plan cost, and then you pay a monthly portion of the phones MSRP over a 12/24/36 month contract) and for most people there’s no reason to upgrade unless your contract is up for renewal. My dad is still happily rocking an S10, and my mum is gonna be using her S21FE for years to come. They don’t care about the majority of features that get added, and just take whatever the newest one is when they renew. Or in my mum’s case she liked the lavender colour of the 21FE and wanted to stick with Samsung.
Actually most people update yearly now. Because phones are easily financed now. And iPhones trade in at high value at one year. So all you have to do is trade it in. And get the new phone. Easy Your phone just hovers around 70-80$ depending where you are which most people pay that much per month
yeah i agree. I remember when it was the norm to change the iphone every year, but now a days its more a norm to do it every other or even less. Unless it’s practically your job to have the newest one.
You guys need to create a board for all of your predictions so you can see who was right. The Fantasy Focus podcast does that. Every time there's a prediction/disagreement, they say "Put it on the Board!" and then they revisit it afterwards.
Toggle the “Dim Lock Screen” on focus modes, this paired with the always on. The screen is practically off. Then it’s more of a traditional always on display.
I have to agree with Andrew. I really miss LED notifications. I wish Apple would've done something with that middle slit between the Face ID sensors and camera and allowed us to have a notification LED there
If you choose a picture as a background you can choose two separate ones for always on and wallpaper. Choosing a black one for the always on gives a more „classical“ always on display.
@@marianogoncalves18 thing is somehow you guys just want always on display to be this sleep thing…put your phone face down. Me and many others needed it for daytime desk activities. And that’s great…no need to pick up my phone to review notifications since I can read them off the screen.
LED notification indicator by far is the best useful luxury feeling ever created. Hands down you know you have missed call low charge etc by passing (ex. busy at work, home) by the phone from distance. It's saved me a lot because it gets my attention to charge my phone before I hang out with friends and many other situation..
Wonderful episode. Disagree with 2 things: 1. The reason Apple won't go under-display camera isn't because it's more expensive (Apple will be happy to sell you something more expensive). It's because current tech produces crappy photos, while they know damn well the iPhone's front camera is the world's most popular camera. 2. They won't withhold the Dynamic Island for too long on the regular models. Reason: it's a software feature that profits from 3rd party developer support, so more adoption will add value to the feature.
@@TheJaycal77 Overall, no other camera model (phone or dedicated) comes close to the usage statistics of the iPhone. Sites that publish usage statistics (such as Flickr) reflect this. I suspect (but am not sure) that the iPhone's front facing camera might even be more popular than the back camera given its excessive use in social apps.
@@h4x0y usage and better are two different things. Given the amount of gen z in the USA and their obsession with Snapchat and tik tok, it definitely aligns with the data.
@@TheJaycal77 I never said anything about better. It is a pretty decent front camera compared to most other devices, but can't hold a candle to the back camera. But since indeed it's being used by so many TikTok (and equivalent socials) users, it's important for Apple not to make it far worse by moving to a current-gen under display selfie camera. These just aren't up to par with Apple's quality standards.
the always on display doesn’t bother me tbh, apart from the impact on battery life. Like for me I don’t mistake the always on display for my phone being on, it seems obvious enough to me that its the always on display everytime
Its the bezels that are getting thinner. Which is aesthetically more important to that average person. Most people get a case though. I got a case that covers the bezels a bit on the 14 pro max so most wont be able to tell 🤭. Though the space between the dynamic island and the edge looks bigger on renders. We will see.
You didn't mention Samsung's "show for new notifications" option in Always On Display. A very good option that shows the AOD only when a notification arrives and stays until it is read. It's the same as a notification light.

@@ridgefrost Marques' primary devices are the S21 Ultra (which he's been using for almost two years now) and whichever Pro iPhone is the newest (for Auto Focus and social media stuff.) He definitely doesn't have a preference; even if he did, it wouldn't matter because he's made it evident that he has nothing against Android.
AOD should offer users an option to turn wallpapers off - maybe add an extra line for widgets. People think it’s not locked properly because of the dimming feature. The option to remove wallpaper would fix this.
I also like the way the dynamic island works. It's not necessary, but it definitely feels useful now. Also, the choice on how to change the notifications so they don't all pop up and you can just have them listed as a number is so nice to avoid distractions during work hours.
Hey there, I think the iPhone 14 Pro Max looks good and all but…..the dynamic island actually sits further into the screen than the notch. All the fancy labelling does not change the fact that there is still an extended hole punch in the screen of a premium device in 2022. Relabelling it doesn’t change the fact that it is there at all in this day and age. More screen innovation is required screen wise at the very least. Right now the bean counters rule the roost in my opinion, and they are simply innovating in teaspoons fulls rather than in ladles fulls like in Steve Jobs day. I’m sticking with 13 Pro Max at this stage.
Dynamic island will come to the regular iPhone next year. It’s not a “pro” feature, rather its on the pro first so third party apps have a year of development and the feature can become more fleshed out before brought to the masses. Next year the pro line up will gain some additional features/hardware specs to separate it from the regular series.
From 9to5Mac: Apple released a support document highlighting the Always-On display usage, though we already covered how most of it works here. Now, we’re going to detail when this feature turns off immediately. Apple said the Always-On display goes dark when you don’t need it. To save battery life, the display is completely dark on these eight different occasions: Your iPhone 14 Pro is face down; Your iPhone is in your pocket; Sleep Focus is on; Low Power Mode is on; Your iPhone is connected to CarPlay; You’re using Continuity Camera; You haven’t used your iPhone for a while; Your iPhone detects that you moved away from it when you wear a paired Apple Watch.
The best always on display or ambient display I'd say is that of Motorola, not always on all the time, but when you glance, shake or wave over it, or when a notification arrives. Also function/utility wise it's the best.
This was kinda funny to listen to less than a year later. Future iPhones… USB-C is a pipe dream, and no dynamic island on base models for at least two years (maybe much longer). Apple sure keeps us guessing. Tells me, too, that the DI was initially greeted as a fairly Pro feature that wouldn’t quickly move to the base models. I’m trying to assess whether I’d like an iPhone with DI, so good to know.
Heres a idea, have a separate wallpaper for always on displays so you could have a completely black idle display, then have a colorful lock screen. Plus the creativity you can have with this is almost unlimited.
You can set a different wallpaper for always on separate from the one you use on your Lock Screen. So if u set the always on wallpaper to black and the Lock Screen wallpaper to a photo it looks really great.
Hey Marques, love your videos man. Rumours say right now that all iPhones next year will get dynamic island but only the pro phones will have the promotion display. That’s how they’ll continue to differentiate them.
The worst thing about iPhones 14 is the removal of sim card tray. If you travel outside US, you know that most European cell carriers don’t offer digital sim cards.
FORCING potential USA buyers of the new 14 Pro models to accept an eSim version of the phones while every buyer in every other country is equally forced to only accept a microSim equipped version with the tray is exceedingly stupid, and idiotically reprehensible. Wisdom is nowhere to be found in such a decision. The two versions should be equally available EVERYWHERE. It’s up to the buyer to CHOOSE, NOT Apple.
I love that the waveform of playing music grabs the color scheme of the album art. Now, if we could just get the entire Music app UI to grab the color of album art, so I don’t constantly have a screen full of angry red shouting at me whenever I play music. I _really_ miss when it and iTunes used a blue color scheme.
The iPhone XR had a notch but the screen was still LCD instead of OLED. So besides the ‘notch’ there’s always a difference between the display technology. So maybe the non-pro will never get pro-motion even though they have the dynamic island. Or maybe it’ll only get bumped up to 90hz, or maybe less bright, or maybe the display bezel sizes are different.
@@JB_Lucid I like the size of the 14 Pro better, one handing the phone is much easier. XS max was definitely a two handed phone, but if size isn’t an issue I would go pro max. From my use case the 14 Pro has better battery than the XS max when it was new.
All-screen Zenfone 6 here baby! No notch, no teerdrop, no hole-punch or anything. This has been an option in the Android world for several years now, including the OnePlus 7.
FWIW, one of my friends got an iPhone Pro, and one change he noticed is that the sound quality is noticeably better than his previous iPhone. I'm pretty sure his previous iPhone was a 13 Pro.
Lumias had the best Glance screen (always on) implementation. I could see right away who called, me, small text messages. There was a timer when it shuts of, I usually preferd 15-30 seconds. Then you could wave with hand over the screen to turn on the glance and see the notifications. What Apple did is really stupid to me, all because they wanted to be different. But I wouldn't be surprised when android phone manufacturers starts copying this stupidity.
The cameras are a slight upgrade from a tech reviewer who obviously hasn’t used ProRaw. It’s a game changer. The images it captures are amazing. As for battery life. It takes up to 5 days to figure out your usage patterns. 3rd day for me and I’ve got 58% left with just over 5 hours SoT. It’ll get better the more you use it.
@@lucien3613 I’m not sure about numbers but the 14 Pros camera is better than the 13 Pro Max as it stands anyway. The low light shots are much less noisy and the extra detail is easy to see too.
My camera on my 14 pro max is terrible. Image can’t stabilize, it’s got focusing problems, the pictures turn out like crap. I was feeling the same way about the always on display. It’s nice that you get that wallpaper during the day, but at night it can be a bit overwhelming. So I just created a new Lock Screen that has a solid black background and an off white dimmed down time display. Take two seconds to switch and really looks better. Yeah other phones don’t need all the extra work to get what you want, but like I said, it takes 2 seconds to change.
Apparently there is a focus mode hack that turns the wallpaper black and let's you keep the clock and notifications still. I can't remember where I saw it but it can be done.

I expect battery life to improve. Chip should be more efficient, a simpler AOD as on Android, and phone getting used to usage should make it as good as 13PM
my battery life is so poor on the 14 pro. I'm tempted to go back to my 13 pro max. It's hard for me to believe battery life will get better. it usually gets worse.
@@Kr0n1k8 yup this is exactly why I chose the pro max I’m on my phone heavily and I couldn’t imagine my phone dying before 4 hours I had a 12 and my phone would die around 1pm (I get to work at 7am) I’m on my phone as we speak and it’s 1pm here and my phone is on 63% I’ll probably leave work and it’ll be half way by the time I leave
I’ve got the 14 pro Max, the pill was cool for 5 minutes, but now I just find it annoying. 90% of the time the pill is bigger than it needs to be due to software, like extending the pill on both sides with a lock icon in to tell me the phone is locked. By due to software, I don’t mean filling in the gap, but getting wider either side.
The battery issue is not just on iPhone 14 but on previous devices also. Most likely it is due to initial release version of iOS 16, and ideally should be better in coming versions
I had horrible battery life when I first setup my iPhone 14 Pro Max because it was installing all of the apps and clearly "calibrating" and every new phone it has to re-learn your charging cycle. After a few days of using the phone now the battery lasts all day and I have absolutely no issues. Especially with a sleep focus where it turns the screen completely off when you fall asleep, I forgot to slap on my magsafe charging puck beside my bed one night and the phone didn't even lose 5% battery the entire night! But yes also iOS updates will make the battery life better and more efficient. The Always on display and higher brightness of the display is also taxing on the battery, so if you're like me and you like to keep all the cool features on and also max out the brightness of the display you will obviously get less battery life. But I've literally never had issues with my phone dying. I don't think my iPhone 13 Pro Max died a SINGLE TIME in the entire year I owned it, because I have a 3-in-1 magsafe charging pad on my office desk that charges my phone, Apple Watch, and AirPods all at the same time. So if I'm in my office I just lay the devices on there to charge. In my car I have a magsafe wireless charging dock where I just slap the phone onto it and it charges while I'm driving and even can separate from the dock and it becomes like a Magsafe charging puck where you can still use the phone and charge. Then finally I have a magsafe charging puck next to my bed for when I go to sleep. The closest I've come to my battery dying was maybe 13% battery where I was away from chargers for an entire day and I just turned on Low power mode and it kept my phone alive until I got to a charger. You could also purchase the magsafe battery pack if you're ever going to be away from a charger for more than 6-8 hours.
Yeah true. My 13 pro max use to last all day without even getting close to low. Downloaded IOS16 and it dies faster. Still not in a sense where I’d call it bad or fast, but definitely noticeable
the amount of time it took David to draw that, one would have thought he was gonna do it really well and he PULLED THAT DRAWING OFF hahahah I LOVE YOU GUYS.
The dynamic island on a macbook can happen with software alone. The hardware limitation is already there, just need to utilise the surrounding pixels, and then you have a new notification center.
The cutout has eye catching animations, but it still takes up more screen real estate. When playing ultrawide videos, the 14 pro has the cutout intruding where the older phones don’t.
I turned off the AOD on my 14 pro max because although it looks cool it absolutely destroyed my battery, I live in Australia so it's always at max brightness in the sun throughout the day, even the AOD is so bright now I have it off it barely draws power when in my pocket edit: once I used the iPhone 14 pro max with dynamic island, I can't go to anything without it. it's just so fun and smooth
Let me say something and it feels absurd but what if Apple didn't want people to use its AOD because AOD drains battery which is not good for their battery performance claims. Also they were getting backlash for the past 3 years as they switched to amoled but still didn't have the feature. So they decided we will give the feature but will make it in such a way that people won't use it. Hence we save our battery backup claims and avoid backlash, a win win.
bro if they made the AOD normal like other phones with all the screen tech it would basically use no battery. like 3% evert day . but they just don't want it to look like android . that's also why they don't do hole punch cuz then it would look like android
The brightness is incredible. I had never been outside on a sunny desert day and had full visibility. The thermals are much better as well. It gets hot here and the phone didn't warm up or dim the display. The differences from my old 13 pro are very low, but it is such a well refined model.
Biggest reason why Apple doesn’t what to leave the notch. Most phones when it’s front facing with power off you can’t tell which phone you’re using. But if you see the notch then you immediately recognize it as an iPhone.
@@demboyz4082 I mean it’s quite a big change from IOS 15 to IOS 16 when compared to IOS 14 to IOS 15 , so either they can compromise performance or efficiency ….geekbench scores are on par with IOS15 …. Battery is still pretty good easily lasts me a day
The settings allow you to turn off "always on display". Also, due to the A16 using 4nm production process it is more power efficient than the A15. You should go into the settings and optimize the power usage. In addition the pill can be modified to display various things by outside coders. There is one such thing as a a little pet icon that wanders over the top of the pill. Software will catch up to address all your little things you brought up.
I like what apple is trying to do with the AOD, but there needs to be a more obvious shift from on to off. No need to show the whole display with the wallpaper or album art. We just need: black pixels, time, notification, music, widgets.
@@Progan666 far as I know, it just dims the Home Screen wallpaper as part of the animation from Home Screen to Lock Screen. I don't like to have a black Home Screen background.
The mini led on the phones disappeared, which always let you know that you have a message, call missed and so on. The always on display is the replacement, but the always on display overtime will affect the display.
I got my iPhone XR as I was not sure which one to get and the iPhone 11 was on the market, and since I didnt use the camera much, so I got the iPhone XR. In India, the 11 pros were super expensive, and the XR cost me £525 or $679 (rates converted in that time), and it was worth the money. So, now when I am upgrading to the 14 pro max, its a huge jump and in the UK, the pros are INR30,000 or £328 or $376 cheaper. Conclusively, its a good buy.
The very first thing I noticed after updating my 12 pro to ios16 is the battery change. It seems to charge slower and dies quicker. It was so bad that I searched if anyone else had the similar issue.
I think they should let the “i-shaped” pill cutout be visible when you use reachability. From what I’ve seen the dynamic island comes down when u use reachability but when reachability is used it keeps the big open pull up there too. Just my thoughts. I get mine tomorrow I’m excited to watch it evolve :)
The Pixel AOD sometimes shows the wallpaper too, but it switches between that and totally black background, probably to conserve battery. I think the Pixel has the best implementation. I use both OSs btw.
Last weekend, I was in a plane for 8 hours, and I absolutely loved glancing at the always on display of my S22 Ultra to see what time it was :) I wear a Fitbit Sense, but keep its AOD off to maximize battery life. S22 Ultra's AOD is perfect for me :)
Highly customizable and its aim is to waste as little battery as possible, since the very first AOD in Galaxy S6 in 2014. Apple likes the approach of wasting battery and that's fine too if you want less battery.
Even though I am NOT an Apple person, I think I will finally upgrade my OnePlus 7T that I've had for the past 3 years to this. I still think *hardware* wise, OnePlus beats it hands-down, but the thing's it lacks, mostly support, is what is drawing me back toward Apple (I had an iPhone 7 for 2 years before this phone). It would be nice to be able to use AirDrop, receive high-res images from friends who have iOS, and use facetime. I have had many instances where people's imessage will work, but sms text will not.
I actually went from oneplus to apple back in 2018. I LOVED one plus and should i go with android again, id pick one plus again in a heart beat. but i was always dissatisfied with android itself. how clunky it felt and also how the models like oneplus or sony often were back on the update line, so often i had to wait for weeks sometimes months to get a new android update. So yeah love the hardware of one plus, dont like the software. However now that i do have an iphone and a ipad, i dont really want to go back at all. So yeah it is a big jump and you may feel like apple is behind on some things. but what you will get is reliability and phones that is made for perfection, rather the quick trend.
I appreciate the detail in you’re reviews and conversations. This is defiantly one of my favorite ways to receive new information on Tech. One issue, stop saying Like 100 times in one sentence. So overwhelming
The entire screen is lit, even though it's slightly lit it's still lit and that's definitely going to cause the display to constantly draw power from the battery.
What if the normal iPhone doesn’t get pro motion(120Hz) but get a bump up to 90Hz. I have heard that the bump from 60 to 90 Hz is more significant than from 90 to 120 Hz. I have not used any higher refresh rate displays so i may be far from truth.
It's not exactly one to one but you can turn off the Samsung S22/1/0 series always on display and have a small glow around the edge of the phone to be seen even when upside down or couple of dots flash around the camera cutout while the screen is completely off and it does have an auto color feature for each icons colors. It under notifications and the brief pop up settings once that's set just turn off always on display and you'll have pretty much what you're talking about.
I agree with the dude in the middle. I don’t use AOD even on my Pixel. If it takes up even little or a lot of battery, I don’t want it. I I would definitely prefer a color coded LED. AOD only makes sense on a smart watch where I’m actually going to glance at. If I glance at my phone, I’ll most likely unlock it.
Pre-ordered a 14 Pro, since my 13 Pro [maybe] will be going to a family member... I love the 6.1" form factor but I lost 11% battery overnight due to always on display... and with AOD turned off overnight I still lost 3-4% (13 Pro was 1% at most) and I'm down 25% throughout the day over the 13 Pro... I turned off AOD because I don't really like it, and now I'm only down 15-20% over the 13 Pro during the day... The 14 Pro is power hungry, probably the A16... Love iOS 16 battery percentage display but I turned that off as well... it got depressing lol. Now I'm faced with keeping my 13 Pro or returning the 14 Pro and getting a 14 Pro Max, but I really don't like the added real estate in my pocket. Advice? As always, you guys rock =]
Id say wait it out couple more months as more updates gets pushed. Just like anything new that’s always new problems and Apple need to solve it. That’s why I always refrain getting the earliest first batches of iPhone. Hopefully better updates coming soon and hopefully the battery will optimise well down the road after a certain usage in due time. Same problem with Samsung and pixel battery I’d assume. Takes time for the battery to adapt how u use it daily.

iOS was designed for reachability since from the start thru their UI of always having menus at the bottom. It was more accentuated in recent versions of the OS by having large title texts at the top and now with iOS 16, which moved its elements on the lockscreen at the bottom. Dynamic island implementation is brilliant but I think it contradicts that UI design by having controls available at top. It’s useful though.

The fact that the new smartphones each year just keep removing features for no reason at all really upsets me. There are so many random little things I realized they got rid of when i upgraded from an s9 to an s22 ultra

The only thing iPhone is missing now is usb c, the camera to be flush with the back, and to go from 20w fast charging to at least 30w fast charging. Once it has that it’ll be perfect. Next year it’s getting usb c I can’t wait
i’m convinced next year’s non-pro iphones will have a pill cut out with no software features, so apple can save on display prices and have a new feature for their baseline phones

the waveforms throughout ios 16 are also actual waveforms, it matches the frequency and amplitude of whatever’s playing which as an audio engineer makes me really happy
That’s cool to know, i was wondering about that
At this point I don't think most people don't update to the new phone every year like they might 10 years ago with how much more expensive they are, so for me the 14 pro is a huge step up from the phone I bought 4 years ago.
What about if u have an iphone 11 pro should i upgrade
Unless it’s practically your job to have the newest one.

coming back to this after the iPhone 15 reveal. The conversation at 14:40 though!!! LOL 😅 clearly that didn't last long!
Wonderful episode. Disagree with 2 things:
World'? Definetly the USA but not the world's.
That’s so interesting, I like never use my front facing camera. But I guess TikTokers do
@@h4x0y usage and better are two different things.

Yep, aesthetically I really love it. I think it's the best, but also this is subjective.
Watching this 9 months later and it's interesting to see that only David called the dynamic island being on all the iphone 15 models

I upgraded from the 12 and wow, its such a huge upgrade, especially the display and battery.
How long does the battery last? I need it for work and I can't decide between 14 pro or regular 13
Good one mate... You called it 😆💯
From 9to5Mac:
Apple released a support document highlighting the Always-On display usage, though we already covered how most of it works here. Now, we’re going to detail when this feature turns off immediately.
Apple said the Always-On display goes dark when you don’t need it. To save battery life, the display is completely dark on these eight different occasions:
Your iPhone 14 Pro is face down;
Your iPhone is in your pocket;
Sleep Focus is on;
Low Power Mode is on;
Your iPhone is connected to CarPlay;
You’re using Continuity Camera;
You haven’t used your iPhone for a while;
Your iPhone detects that you moved away from it when you wear a paired Apple Watch.
The best always on display or ambient display I'd say is that of Motorola, not always on all the time, but when you glance, shake or wave over it, or when a notification arrives. Also function/utility wise it's the best.
Andrew literally predicted the future thats exactly what happened with iphone 15 series pro got action button and regular iphones got dynamic island
That’s how they’ll continue to differentiate them.
thats acceptable only if the non pros have 90hz screen
The worst thing about iPhones 14 is the removal of sim card tray. If you travel outside US, you know that most European cell carriers don’t offer digital sim cards.
This is only a USA issue because in all other markets, Apple iPhone 14 comes with the SIM card tray (eg: Canada).
I upgraded from 11 and this is amazing.
I went from a XS max to the 14 Pro. While the XS max was still solid on performance but the new cameras, island and 120hz is awesome.

@@JB_Lucid I like the size of the 14 Pro better, one handing the phone is much easier. XS max was definitely a two handed phone, but if size isn’t an issue I would go pro max. From my use case the 14 Pro has better battery than the XS max when it was new.

I was feeling the same way about the always on display. It’s nice that you get that wallpaper during the day, but at night it can be a bit overwhelming.

Honestly, I'm really impressed by battery life of my iPhone 13... Nothing to complain about.
16:25 this discussion crazy entertaining hahahahahahah
the amount of time it took David to draw that, one would have thought he was gonna do it really well and he PULLED THAT DRAWING OFF hahahah I LOVE YOU GUYS.
I turned off the AOD on my 14 pro max because although it looks cool it absolutely destroyed my battery, I live in Australia so it's always at max brightness in the sun throughout the day, even the AOD is so bright
now I have it off it barely draws power when in my pocket
edit: once I used the iPhone 14 pro max with dynamic island, I can't go to anything without it. it's just so fun and smooth
I wish they made an actual always on display where only the dynamic island is on/active. And notifications can appear in it

I too am one of those who doesn’t care at all for Always-On Display. It is highly overrated and I find it absolutely useless.
Who and how “used” aod??? In what way, it’s just there
Sounds like apple lol😂
bro if they made the AOD normal like other phones with all the screen tech it would basically use no battery. like 3% evert day . but they just don't want it to look like android . that's also why they don't do hole punch cuz then it would look like android

I think they should let the “i-shaped” pill cutout be visible when you use reachability.
I think ios 16 is draining battery faster after the upgrade from ios 15.x
I appreciate the detail in you’re reviews and conversations. This is defiantly one of my favorite ways to receive new information on Tech. One issue, stop saying Like 100 times in one sentence. So overwhelming

Notification led's yes! 100% want those back. They were so convenient
I actually like the always-on. It is more convenient than tapping my phone all the time when it is on my desk.
AOD is more convenient but the way apple did it is not good. nobody asked for a dimmed display
@@a-don13 imagine if Samsung would have done it. It would be the best thing to ever grace a smartphone.
The entire screen is lit, even though it's slightly lit it's still lit and that's definitely going to cause the display to constantly draw power from the battery.
@@funkam0nkey you mean do it the way apple did it? genuine question not snarky
@@venator7889 It’s very small. In the average hour, it is responsible for around 2% draw.
The thing is, they do have a notification dot. It’s only use for when the camera is on.
Did ur battery problm fixed bcz i recently bought 14 pro upgraded from xs and i dont feel better bcz battery is not great when opening camera i camt see where the battery goes🥲
iOS was designed for reachability since from the start thru their UI of always having menus at the bottom. It was more accentuated in recent versions of the OS by having large title texts at the top and now with iOS 16, which moved its elements on the lockscreen at the bottom.
Dynamic island implementation is brilliant but I think it contradicts that UI design by having controls available at top. It’s useful though.
Except Control Centre being in the top right since FaceID was introduced
@@iitzYaBoii we have back tap, so we can use that to get to the Notification Center and Control Center.
But back tap is kinda stupid so we gotta deal with it
Just a random question lol what is the widget Marques is using on the Lock Screen on the left side? Just curious 👀
its from an app called TickTick
The fact that the new smartphones each year just keep removing features for no reason at all really upsets me. Like the removal of LED notification lights, heart rate monitors, etc. Samsung is probably the worst with this. There are so many random little things I realized they got rid of when i upgraded from an s9 to an s22 ultra
Change the lock screen wallpaper to black, then it would be similar to android AOD but giving away the wallpaper. Gonna try this when I get mine

I'm not sure if getting iOS 16 is most of the experience as at least my iPhone 12 lags quite sometimes when interacting with that new lock screens and a lot of the animations there feel janky now. Hope they'd be able to fix it.
@Usman Ahmad We don’t buy phones to “kindly” turn off all the features we paid for 🤡🤡🤡
@Usman Ahmad I have the 14 Pro and I use AOD without any isue :)
@Usman Ahmad I sold f 12. I keep background refresh off too.
I always turn off the Forbes feature in privacy settings which uses phone’s sensors to count steps which is on by default.
Whats that widget in extreme left on his lockscreen? The one with the dots?
its from an app called TickTick
i think dynamic island should include custom notification flashes in the AOD. that's definitely a great idea!

Yeah I love how when you watch full screen the pill covers up the left side of the videos. The best !!!
If Apple is Watching this, I Love the Always on display the way it is now. You can Really see the time. Depending on customizing it, the time is all you see. Others just have to customize it better to not see as much light.

MKB and his team never miss! just naturally great at tech. now throw a UK brother a new iPhone 14 pro hahaha
Nice try
I can't wait for Apple's October hardware event. How cool would it be if Apple introduced an iPad Pro with the dynamic island. 🤯💰😁
We need an AOD video comparison between Pixel Samsung Apple and others
The fact that we waited 10 years for this shows how by the time GTA VII will be released, not even our kids, but our grandkids will be excited enough to see it, while we will just remember this moment.
You can use a pitch black AMOLED wallpaper for the lockscreen and get a better experience on the Always on Display and good battery life. Atleast in theory. May be you can try it out and let us know.

Agree with Andrew about the notification LED. Red message from wife, yellow from girlfriend, green from crush etc 😉
