I really love the paraiso Verde but the garden center close to me has them almost fully reverted and I’m scared to spend so much money on a plant that I can’t get the beautiful variegation to return. Do you have any experience with reverted paraiso verde? Thanks. :(
There are two reasons why they revert. 1st is genes and second is environment. If it came from a weak genes then you just have to pray. 😆 If it is environmental then you can definitely do something. Change the soil to coco pete, rice hull, and carbonated rive hull. Change means fully remove all old soil then replace with new soil. Put the plant where there is 12 hour sunlight. Sunlight which means filtered sun by 50% sunshade. They love very bright light. If you can provide growth light at night that will help as well. You need to sun stress the plant. Careful with the humidity though. Add additional shade if the humidity is high. Increase to 70% sunshade. To avoid the leaves to get burned. Philodendrons can adapt. If grown in a very humid environment the old leaves may get burned but the new leaves usually could tolerate the environment. Do not put fertilizer. As long as the soil is fresh it can provide enough nutrients. Trick is change the soil when you think it has fully utilized the nutrients that is in there. But if you don't have access to fresh soil everytime then use low nitrogen fertilizer. Use a very small amount. Slow release is best. I think that is it. 😊 happy planting!
