Facts! economics, infrastructure, tribalism, meaningful education, supportive role models , addressing systemic injustice, family assistance, trauma therapy, and a hopeful future. We need all these things and 1 to 2 generations to turn things around, but it is possible!
We’ve been trying it for 4-7 generations and still nothing. I think that without drastically changing the housing urban and educational structure we’ll never be able to break up the social bonds and isolation that creates organized criminal culture
@@luisandrade2254 We have to eliminate some industries and other stuff completely then.
Um, you can’t break the cycle logically. As he said- they looked up to family thugs in jail and looked forward to their own jail time. It’s a thing . They highly value it.
How do you change that kind of thinking ?
For me, I’d think now why would I want anything to do with the cops in my life ? But they want that kind of stress I guess
@@krisg3984 You clearly do not understand especially based on your last 2 sentences
Tribalism? I can understand if you mean it in the sense of community, but I’d argue that tribalism and the resulting herd mentality is probably the number one reason for strife and discrimination between different groups of people. I think of it like nationalism vs patriotism, etc.
I actually understand this. It’s like people who join the military or support a team because their family does. When you are raised in a social environment that glorifies and normalizes certain behaviors you are bound to also glorify and normalize those behaviors. The problem really is that large sectors of our society effectively live in societies of their own in conflict with the rest of us. It’s not even poverty or inequality the problem really is social ostracization and parallel cultures. I’m not sure about the solution though maybe housing and education reform to break up this social structures?
Agreed but gangs did start as a direct result of poverty and racial inequality, as they said in the video
@@rkivelover “start”
@@rkivelover no they didn’t
@@luisandrade2254 they literally did, a quick google search will tell you that. your origianl post started out with you saying "I actually understand this" and I immediately knew you didnt understand it at all. you're ignorant on this subject

Really love this video and the questions asked because people really have zero idea what that life is like.
When people’s families and friends are involved it’s never as cut and dry as “just stop”. Shout out to him for being an example for the kids to follow
I appreciate that you had someone from South Central, its where I come from and it has a special place in my heart. My people have a lot of redeeming qualities. Great interview.
I was surprised to hear him talk the aspect of putting on masculinity. Cool how he recognized that, he seems really wise
That double spaced "I" going crazy

Loved this guy on the previous video, 1000% glad Jubilee recognized it
Which video was it
@@WOODSLD80 I don't know
Agreed!!!! Love his vibe. He was on the how many years have they been in jail episode.
I think we also need to talk about prison systems. We live in the country where entitled individuals demonize countless amounts of individuals that do or sell drugs. When in reality these people are doomed to do the exact same thing once they’re released from their sentence. It’s because no one cares. Other countries literally focus on rehab and educating people on drug use rather than criminalizing it.
"Other countries"
And by that you mean European countries.
@@slightlyirradiatedmuffin3257 r/woosh
@@Asian_Kid I don't think you know what r/woosh is used for.
What I corrected is a matter of fact. The only countries with softer prison systems then the US are European.
@@slightlyirradiatedmuffin3257 r/woosh
@@slightlyirradiatedmuffin3257 I was just kidding about using r/woosh and stuff. I was just wondering what you'd say.
MY QUESTIONS:
What needs to be done to fix the situation and help youth avoid this path? What could the police, community, parent(s) and politicians do better?
Sex education & life skills would have been a great start.
Nothing, you can't do anything.
You may reduce the chance of it happening, but human nature will always find a way to form groups like these.
I think he’s not very hopeful for that. He clearly thinks gangs are here to stay. Personally I think putting kids in different environments will help them choose different things then their older brothers until it no longer is the norm but you also need to change the places these people live in. As long as they are disconnected from our mainstream society they will always have parallel cultures
@@k4rim799 That’s the most rational response I’ve seen regarding this topic, lol. But it’s true…there’s really nothing that can be done.
You have to work on everything, but realistically, it's easier to do nothing. The culture goes deep and exists because of oppression lasting over a century, and if we're being honest, still exists today in blatant forms of racism, discrimination, and rigid views on black violence and drug culture. It ain't gonna matter if you work on the police, community, parenting, or politics. You may be able to address it locally, maybe for a handful of families, but you will not make any change for multiple neighborhoods, across multiple towns, multiple states, to the point where every single community is operating safely. We can't even do that for our highly-resourced zip codes.
Him saying his favorite song was California Love made my day.
why didn’t anyone ask him how and why he got out and how he quit drugs😭
maybe he wasnt struggling w addiction as much as he was just selling? and one did ask him what caused him to get out, iirc.
dumbass just cause they sell crack dont me we do em

The typa life experience that’s perfect for bad neighborhoods. They typically build relationships with the community and policing is a lot different.

question : how could you be a cop with your extensive criminal record and prison time you have served?
Most likely start from the very bottom and work your way up lol
Probably juvenile time and his records were sealed when he turned 18, also jail does not equal prison and jail also doesn't mean felony
They didn't care back in the day. The 90s and 2000s they just needed numbers. Now, they want you to be a veteran, college educated, 700 credit score, etc

The fact that bro probably never got caught being both crip n cop is crazy.

They definitely kno lmao y’all white kids is so funny
There's no reason you can't leave that life behind and become a cop. Like he said he won't police his own community and he didn't go tell on none of the homies when he became a cop. No reasons why he couldn't transition.
The thing he's talking about gangs and family fades away. Real gangbanging is a very cutthroat lifestyle. It's extremely violent and the guys at the top are real CRIMINALS who vie for position by watching for weaknesses in each other.
But thats how it is the beghinginng because ur usually always young and u feel the love at first but things change

Coming from that life all the way to my early 20s from 14 and now being a dad of two , regular job don’t dress or talk like that and even taught my self to trade stocks as a career I regret and wished for only one thing and that is GUIDANCE , if only I had that i think I would have made a lot less mistakes and learned at a younger age then my middle 20s basically.
I'm not about sharing my business all over the internet, but I've been in the neighbourhood in the life since I was like 12, I started thinking about a better just regular life when I was 20, but would find myself in the street corners or the clubs by night. Now I"m 23, moved got a regular job, and I just can't cope, regular life is too boring, too empty... How did you do ?

I would've liked to see that too but they kept it light-hearted a bit despite the topic. going into critical questions would probably make the whole thing uncomfortable
