I remember going to Kmart and Sears when I was a kid and a teenager! My grandmother's and my mother used to go to either Sears or Kmart for anything they needed. Amazing how much has changed! Fantastic job!

It's crazy and sad what's become of Kmart, I remember shopping there all the time. We didn't have Walmarts and during the 80s and early 90s Kmart was a powerhouse. Even in the 2000s they was still second place, it's just sad knowing it's probably close to be completely gone.
I remember in the 90’s and early 2000’s Kmart was secretly declining but man they had WWF Wrestling action figures , Sega Genesis games , CD’s, and decent Champion NFL jerseys. In the mid 90’s at the Big Kmart in Warren, OH my grandmother purchased me a Jerry Rice , Michael Irving , and Dan Marino jersey.
Amazing memories. My favorite though are these younger groups of people who were born 2000 and later claiming how much they loved Kmart and some of these retail stores. Like really love the enthusiasm but they really don’t remember these stores when they were semi decent compared to 5 years ago.
@Manny Quacioua it's funny you brought up WWF action figures. That was a big part of my childhood. I will never forget the excitement of heading to the toy section and seeing what new figures came out, Kmart and Hills always had that hard to find stuff you never see anywhere else. Thank you, sir, for everything you have done the past few years, I have not visited a Kmart in quite a few years because all of them in my state and surrounding states have been closed. The last one I visited was the Warren, Ohio Supper Kmart. I remember seeing that store and being amazed. Lol for a guy like me and you it's our Graceland. But thanks for filming all these stores and keeping their memory alive. If nothing else, we will always have your videos even if they one day completely disappear.

The Kmart in my city in California was actually doing ok. But back in 2018 or so, corporate sold the land. Kmart was making revenue off rent from other stores on the land. They got a good chunk for the land when they sold it, but they now had to pay rent. In 2020, the store closed.
They didn't want to pay rent ??

Rent costs are extremely high and overpriced in today’s society. If you take a deeper dive into Real Estate you will definitely notice.

Bleak? I was there yesterday. The entire store is now in the "garden center" section. It's about the size of a dollar tree. The rest of the building is totally falling apart.
It still baffles me how this KMART is still open! How?! The Florida Lottery even just took their scratch ticket kiosk away last week! Awesome update!

@@stephenholloway6893 Puerto Rico still has a fully functioning KPharmacy and KCafè (Kmart branded not Little Caesars), that Puerto Rico location is 2 floors and has NOTHING BLOCKED OFF. It might be the only store (that's not Guam) with no blocked-off areas. I only ever saw 1-2 shelves that were empty and they had stock in the backroom (peeked in :P).

This Kmart could be next inline to close since it is probably the largest Kmart still operating in the U.S. and that it is down sizing. The store is also in a area of a lot of competition. Westwood is a smaller Kmart and it is in a small town so there is not much in the way of completion besides grocery stores or tjmaxx and there is also a distribution center in the state so it is probably easier to keep that location open. Bridgehampton is the smallest of the three and is also in a area of minimal competition since the nearest Walmart and target is in river head which is far off. So if you put it together, bridgehampton and Westwood are probably cheaper to run and make more profit than over Kendale lakes Kmart.
The large size of this store may actually help it. Stores that are this large are harder to lease when compared to smaller stores. Competition is not a significant factor when determining the closures of Kmart stores at least in the states. Lack of competition did not save the Marshall, Hamilton, Grass Valley, Freedom, South Lake Tahoe, or any of the locations in the Florida Keys. Real estate is the greatest factor when determining store closures. Believe it or not this location has about the same amount of merchandise that the Westwood location has. Larger sections of this store are blocked off because this store is much larger when compared to the other two.

I’ve actually stopped filming this type of content. Unfortunately now everyone is suddenly a retail mall (photographer) (Urban explorer). It was very fun at first but the Retail/ Mall community has became very stale. The same people running to the same locations over and over. Happy for everyone though hopefully they all get that internet fame they’re desperately craving. Me on the other hand has different aspirations and motivations in life.

Great job on the video, even better job to the person trying to merchandise the store. Painful to watch the end of Kmart and Sears, the writing has been on the wall for ever. Finish it off, we're not going to see these retail icons return to there profitable days.

Unfortunately I don’t see these retailers thriving like many years ago. Especially with the price of inflation in the United States unless a big change is made.

I went to Kmart at Kendall plaza In Miami Florida in may 2022. It was half the size on a mini mart. Really sad. My dad said it might close in august 2022.

Though I'm going to say the only good thing he did was bringing Kmart out of bankruptcy in 2003 and then afterwards never cared about these stores

Another way to look at it is that Eddie Lampert kept Kmart going longer than it would have survived under other management. Pumping millions of dollars into it may have been a waste of money. The consumers chose Walmart over Kmart and other stores. I preferred Kmart and hate Walmart but I guess I'm in the minority.

Far I heard is that 75 percentage of the building is going to be at home store and 25 percentage of the garden center is going to be the new Kmart store

That's black stuff on the wall by the heath and beurtty and pastry section,do you know what kind of paper on the wall is ,it's the paper you put on your house after you get water damage so I think maybe the building got flooded by that tropical storm they just had in Florida

@@MannyQuacioua Two words Eddie Lampert. This jerk killed both Kmart and Sears. I used to be a Kmart employee so I seen it all unfold. He refused to invest in our stores, stripped and sold off our company assets, and pocket the money for his sleazy shareholders. He was only interested in the online shop your way rewards and selling off our stores real estate that’s why he didn’t invest in the stores because he had no intention of keeping the stores open. I could go on about this monster. It’s was no accident what happened to us it was by design. Hedge funds should be illegal!

Probably by the fall of this year at best for the mainland locations but the ones on the territories perhaps 2023. Then again every time we keep saying there done in an given year somehow they hung on. So time will tell one way or another.
