Just two days ago, a UA-cam channel called BNT posted a video of one of their guys doing an illegal free solo climb of the Luis I bridge, i.e. climbing from the lower deck to the top deck without safety equipment. Their channel is full of "urban climbing" stunts like this all around Europe. Shaking my head.
I hope they never get hurt, but, sometimes people see that and feel they can do the same thing. I see so many tourists in the Algarve Portimao to Sagres, climb up or down cliffs to get the perfect Instagram shot or something. It's just not worth it.
Thank you. It needs to be said more. When I was 14, I had a Phys Ed coach that scared the bejeezus out of me during a Health & Risk Management class with Accident Scene photos. 🤢 Plus, he had stories of common bungee jumps that led to permanent damage to your neck.
I know it is a tough topic, but we have been here almost 5 years, and every year 1-5 people die jumping into Boca do Inverno near Cascais, and several people, normally tourists, die jumping off cliffs in the Algarve. Once I read the article, I wanted to have a video out there for people to think twice.
When you come to Portugal to visit or live, think twice before jumping off of cliffs, bridges, etc. Often, the risk, is not worth the reward.
Thank you for posting this info.
You are welcome. Hope you are doing well!
Sorry to hear you are moving. You were a good source of quality content I relied on. Good luck in the US.
Thank You. We are still here for the time being and I'm going to keep making Portugal and travel content until we leave.
