    I am currently ripping up my parent’s front flower bed for them so I can replant some easy care succulents. Since we are all in quarantine here in California I thought it would be a great time to do so. I had to remove a bunch of dirt as there was far too much and an invasive Asparagus Fern that I had to get rid of. I filled the trash can so full I was afraid that it would be too heavy for the trash man to take. I checked the neighbors trash can to confirm if they had come yet and I found a quarantine miracle! A trash can full of aeoniums. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
    In this video I show you how to salvage your aeoniums so that they can be compact and beautiful again. I trim back the dead and floppy leaves on all the aeoniums and also trim back the stems.

    LOVE this video! I agree about people throwing away perfectly good cuttings after pruning . I’ve see videos where ppl chop the Aeoniums and just toss the cuttings . And I was thinking, “ How I’d love to be near your trash cans when you dump those . Cuz I’d take em ! “ . 🤣Good score . And watching you clean them up , and hearing the leaf sounds was super relaxing. ASMR to me . Thanks for the video 😊

      @@moodybloomsHow long after you trimmed them did you stick them in the ground? Should I wait two more weeks to do this in San Jose, CA (still VERY dry. No first rain yet, but temps have dropped below 80 daytime.)

    • @moodyblooms
      @moodyblooms  11 місяців тому

      Two weeks is plenty of time for them to callous over. I typically wait a few days to a week. Of course the thicker the stem, the longer for it to callous over.

    • @moodyblooms
      @moodyblooms  4 роки тому +1

      Awww I'm so sorry it was not what you were looking for. Cutting them off the actual bush is really the same as what I have done here. Either way you really only want the aeonium stem cutting to have about 2-3 inches of stem. If cutting off the stem from the actual bush just be sure to cut back the stem from the original bush as it will not grow additional plants like most succulents. Please let me know if you have any questions!

    Why are you throwing away the stalks that you’ve cut off you can plant those and get some multi headed plant from them. Also all of those leaves that you’re taking away a full of water and nutrients that would feed the plant while it’s still rooting I’m not really sure you understand much about these lovely plant

      Hi Roger,
      I have never had any luck with this particular species of aeonium growing from a stem or just a leaf. Roots may grow out of leaves but they will almost certainly shrivel and die without producing new plants.
      Some smaller species, such as aeonium ‘Suncup,’ can be propagated by making leaf cuttings instead of stem cuttings.

    Love the judgmental part at the beginning! Thanks for the tip, but stop with the judging.

      You got it! I just hate to see plants that can be saved thrown away. A lot of people toss them without knowing they can be propagated to look pretty again. Thanks for stopping by!

      @@moodyblooms I got it? I think you need to stop judging people. Not everyone has the time to do things, and they might have just given up. Do you know if this person lost their job? Is depressed? Until you walk in another's shoes, don't judge. That's all I'm saying.
