Castlevania is BACK baby!
👍
Dear Konami: Shut up and take my money!!!!!!
This is the Konami I remember. Not the current one who turned it's back on the fans while converting their legendary franchises into garbage mobile games & lousy pachinko machines but the old Konami that gave us some of the greatest most fun gaming experiences ever. Good Times.
@@Timmyk5150 Unfortunately modern day Konami will take that money in order to fund more pachinko & mobile crap masquerading as classic Konami games like Metal Gear & Silent Hill😞
If only this collection would be on a pachinko machine... now that would be lit!
I bought this the moment it became available. This will complement the previous Castlevania collection quite nicely....Please, please, please, Konami. Please release a collection of the DS titles next. 🤞❤
It's konami, i doubt they would put work to make the DS games playable.
@@Alex-lc5dz Oh, that's right. Forgot about the touch pad gimmicks.😑
I can't buy this or I won't work this weekend. Kudos for you having self control!
@@pathosis the ds pad could work on the switch screen and the tv screen can be used for the top screen 💗
Do you know if they have hard copys or is it download only.
Man I never realized how much circle of the moon was a black sheep, that was my favorite GBA entry by like...a wide margin lol
Me too, I was actually turned off of the other two for a while because the graphics and feel were a step down for me
For real.
Loved Circle of the moon back when I was around thirteen, never liked the look of aria of sorrow. Emulated aria of sorrow like five years ago, love the magic system the put in. Definitely going to buy this collection soon.
Same. I played it to completion and enjoyed it throughout. Then tried to move onto the other GBA-games but the artstyle didn't grab me (yes that's shallow but whatever). Still haven't played SotN... I've played the originals (but long after the NES was relevant) and Legends for the Gameboy...
I have no idea why CotM gets hate(?). Granted I haven't played many of the games but of the ones I have it's my clear favorite.
How are these 4 compared to super Castlevania in terms of difficulty? I barely had the patience to finish super
RGT just leaked a brand new Castlevania game. Dawn of Souls.
@DarkwingChuck TheGameQuack
I had no idea that Castlevania was crossing over with Final Fantasy. That is awesome👍
PS, Darkwing Duck is a classic✌
He meant Dawn of Sorrow.
@@tehcy7430 we know...
He he, yeah! I love that game Sanic the hedgehog 😂
@@tehcy7430 thanks, detective.
If you guys haven't played these Castlevanias, do yourself a favor, play them. They're terribly overlooked and underrated.
I think 🤔 they are overlooked because they wasn’t on console until now. Hand held games get ignored sometimes.
I bought them before on the Wii U, they are great games. Seriously underrated games I love that they got released again.
@@hanner18ify If Konami came back and made new games exclusively for PlayStation that’ll be awesome.
@@subzer007o4 no thanks
Aria of Sorrow tends to be one of the highest rated Castlevania games (often only just behind Symphony of the Night on lists), but I agree the others are overlooked
Now we need a Metroid Advance compilation. It would only be two games, but I’d gladly play $20 for a digital download.
Those are already on the switch.
@@danreyes736 Say what?
@@danielalv7840 are you referring to the first 2 metriods? NES and SNES?
@@danielalv7840 because those are on the online service
What about a Pokémon Advance Collection?
I'll wait for the inevitable limited run physical to drop
ive been getting both Digital on Switch Physical Collectors Editions on Limited Run.
@@sherrdreamz7232 Double dipping is the world we live in.
@@kylerobinson6102 I very rarely do that.. Only on beloved franchises like Dark Souls, Castlevania or Fire Emblem really.
Circle of the Moon was my first Castlevania and the game that got me into the series. Playing it with the added features in the Collection which tell you if the enemy you're fighting drops DSS cards and if so which one is the biggest QoL improvement ever. I usually end up looking at guides for that info as I play, but not anymore! Aria is probably the best on the Collection though. All of them are great though and worth your time.
Circle of the moon always had an absolutely kickass soundtrack i cannot wait to go back
Facts
Having the Anniversary Collection, and having never played ANY of these, I think this would be a GREAT addition to my Switch library. Along with the already downloaded/played Actraiser 🤘
They're all really good games imo, but I feel it's worth mentioning that Aria of Sorrow is easily the best of them and just an amazing game in general.
How are you liking Actraiser ?
Yeah that Actraiser remake looks good. BUT as I said on Twitter the big thing I don't like is that it's 30 dollars. It may have extra content but even then I still think it's a bit steep. BUT I do hope they do the same for the sequel.
Stick to playing it portable mode only. It looks horrible on the TV no matter what display setting you choose
@@danielorourke6922 thanks for the heads up
Might have a bit of nostalgia in play here, but circle of the moon is still one of my favorites. It was the first game I got with my gba and I beat it repeatedly. It was the first one I started playing when I picked up the new collection.
Yo, that was my first game for the GBA too. I became a fan of Metroidvania style games
I just recently played it for my first time and thought it was great. Felt unique compared to the igavanias
Always thought hd was the worst one not circle. The music sucks the enemy weapons disappear when you kill the enemy your character is glowing for some reason. There may be more but thats just three things I don't like about hd.
Now hd on the xbox that needs a rerelease multiplayer Castlevania would be awesome.
Same here, got my gba with Mario Advance and Circle of the moon. Bought the collection and currently playing this absolute great game.
Unpopular point of view: The best Castlevania game I played after Castlevania 2.
Haven't played Symphony of the Night, so Circle of the Moon was my 1st Castlevania of the the Metroidvanias.
Aria of Sorrow alone worth the price for the entire collection. Great pack, love it!
Now I want a DS collection (even though I had completed 2 on my 3ds)
There's more than 1 ds game? I have played Dawn of sorrow. The only Castlevania games I know of that aren't old school that I've never played are the Lords of Shadow games.
Why do you think a ds collection would work? It would look bad on a widescreen
@@bland9876 Yes, there’s also Portrait of Ruin that has a character swap mechanic where you can unlock Richter/Maria, also Order of Ecclesia which is good too.
@@shecklesmack9563 dam how did i own a nintedo ds and never find out about any of these games. This is one of my most favorite series. I only knew about the old school ones circle of the Moon Dawn of sorrow and aria of sorrow
The xbox controller is not the one i would go to for symphony of the night but oh well.
I also knew about the multiplayer one on Xbox.
@@shecklesmack9563 I didn't even pick up Dawn of sorrow until the 3DS was out that's how much I didn't know what Castlevania games were out there even though I 1,000% would have picked it up.
“Aria of Sorrow” is one of my all-time favorite Metroid-vania’s.
I hope they make a DS collection. They'll have to tweak the gameplay for docked mode.
Am I the only one who is somehow comforted by the fact that RGT leaves his mess ups in the video? I really don’t know why it makes me a little happy 😂
No… it drives me crazy. I’ve made a few comments about it. I love the videos…. But that should get fixed.
He doesn't leave em in he just rushes videos and fucks up the editing
@@3venFl0w I still like it lol 😂
No, he sounds like best trends. Why even do retakes if you're not going to edit out the bad takes. It sounds retarded and unnatural. You don't have to speak perfectly, but there is a natural conversational way to recover from a mistake because that's how people normally speak.
@@jdigga247 I agree, it’s inexcusable and lazy editing, especially for it being a voiceover.
Good to see you RGT. For some reason, your vids haven't been popping up in my feed so I was excited to see this pop up!
we just need rondo of blood and symphony of the night on switch now
Yes PLEASE bring Castlevania Requiem over to Switch and Xbox and hey let’s throw in Harmony Of Despair while we’re at it.
Thank goodness for PlayStation lol
@@jamgamer true but it would be nice to get all of them in one place y know
@@Kain5th Yep as of now I think the only Castlevania games we can’t play on PS are Legends, The Adventure Rebirth, and The DS games. and I have a feeling we’ll be seeing the DS games soon.
@@jamgamer Yeah I have Requiem for the PS4 😆
I seriously disagree with you. Out of all of the GBA Castlevania's, Circle of the Moon is my favorite and it was the last one I had played out of the three. To me it felt like the closest you could get to the classic Castlevanias meeting SOTN. Nathan felt stiff like a Belmont until you get the upgrades which made progressing much more meaningful. It was the most fairly challenging of the three and it definitely had the best soundtrack. It wasn't as pretty looking as the other two, but I still think it was the best one. Still....I love your channel and will continue to be a proud subscriber. Much love to you RGT85.
Agreed 1000% It’s the best bland of classic and sotn Castlevania to date, and difficulty is awesome
I have so much nostalgia for Circle of the Moon. It was my first Castlevania game. The soundtrack is amazing. It’s flawed but still such a blast to play!
Cotm is my favorite castlevania game of all time and it's better than sotn in my opinion. I love how its so challenging that's what makes the game amazinf...once i got the alucard sword in sotn it was a borefest. I tried Aria of sorrow and i can safely say that it's without a doubt the most overrated castlevania game
I actually think is the better looking one, the colors feel right, the others were made for the dark GBA screen but Circle of the moon was made before they knew how dark the gba was.
@@alejandropradalozano6525 I like aria the most with all the cool effects it had but circle looks great too. Aria is probably my favorite as I really like what the soul system brought to the game
Been anticipating this collection for a while, finally will get Circle of the Moon without eye strain
They still need to put the Castlevania Requiem collection on Switch as well.
And that new one Grimoire of Souls.
Yes. I don't understand why it is not on the Switch.
I've hear it has something to do with Sony. Rondo of Blood in the Requiem bundle comes with features like controller speaker sounds and both are upscaled to 4k. I don't know...
I never played any of these so I am definitely looking forward to getting this 😊
You should like them.there all long but sometimes you might get stuck but we have Google.when these games came out for the Gameboy sp I would get stuck and have to hunt for a magazine or anything to help me.
Yeah^, they're pretty good.
I have all 3 on GBA and I also have all 3 on Wii U VC. And eventually I'll get the Switch Collection as well.
I definitely want to pick this up as soon as I can, since I want to play more Castlevania. I'd especially like to try the Metroidvania-style ones!
i bought it asap. I want a physical version!
that editing though. haha!! I couldn't do it any better. thanks for the video bro
Question. How enhanced is the enhanced sound mode in these games? Specifically Harmony of Dissonance; which sounds like substandard (not epic) 8-bit music by default?
love this, do you ever think we will get SOTN on the switch? with these 2 collections this is the only game I need now lol thanks RGT!
5:00 Dawn of Sorrow (not Dawn of Souls), the direct sequel to Aria of Sorrow. Agreed though, those 2 are my favorite handheld Castlevania games. I hope we get the DS collection next.
Dawn of Souls lol
It will be hard to emulate the touch screen.
Does the bug in COTM still work where you can activate your powers, Pause while you're glowing, and swap to any cards including ones you don't have?
I was literally stuck in Aria of Sarrow and your video gave me a hint to get past a certain part. Thanks RGT!
Aria of sorrow in many ways feels like the precursor to bloodstained and that’s by no means a bad thing it’s worth the price of admission with 3 bonus games
Bro I bought it last night and I immediately fell in love. This is so needed. Now we need the DS ones and eventually a full port of those 3D ones on 360
Also SOTN
Switch just skipped on one more game
They would have to get rid of the touch pad controls.
Thank you for this review I’m honestly looking to get it soon.
Great collection, and good timing right before October, can't wait to play IV and this collection next month:)
These are all really good games and I'm glad they put this out. I never played Dracula X so I'm excited for the opportunity. I agree that Aria of Sorrow is the best out of the other three. I know many people wanted to see SOTN in this collection but I hope they give that to us in the next one.
WHAAAAAAAAAT!!?? Circle of the Moon is AMAZING!
It's been a while since I've watched one your videos. Glad your still the same ol RGT 85. Now, I've got some catching up to do.
I knew I could count on you to review this
I literally just went to the bathroom ar work and saw that it released on Switch and PC, so I immediately went to Steam and bought it! Aria of Sorrow is my favorite game of all time, and I honestly wanna cry that I can go home tonight and play it along with Dracula X and Harmony of Dissonance!
That’s great! Let’s hope to see a new castlevania as well!
I don't trust modern Konami. I am playing the mobile trash castlevania they just released on Apple Arcade, even with the pay to win elements removed its just not very good.
@@creativerealms don’t know how it is, I’m not much into mobile games, but mirror of fate was ok in my opinion! Honestly I don’t know what goes into companies’s mind to “ruin” a franchise and think that all the bs they put in a game is good!
I would love to see a grounded survival horror approach. A very rookie Belmont in over his head, in the dark decaying halls of the Castle.
Mash Original Dark Souls with Silent Hill or something.
Isn’t the new mobile game technically a new installment since it takes right after the last one
if there is a new castlevania I would like the graphics to be symphony of the night style graphics. just my opinion
M2 are the freaking goats man 😭😭
Ikr?
An easy buy for me would be Metroid collection with OG Samus returns, Metroid zero mission and fusion. Also for Zelda. Link's Awakening, oracle games and Minish cap collection. I like this better then having to be on a pay wall with online.
With super metroid on switch online, if they just ported Samus returns, zero mission, and fusion, we could get the whole story leading up to Metroid Dread. I would give anything for that as I just beat super metroid for the first time as my first metroid
@@samueldeadman5733 Nice. Yeah that would be cool.
Aria is one of my favorites of all time. A game I actually beat twice. Loved all 3 Castlevania games on the GBA & the 3 DS were insanely good. Never could get into the 3D ones on PS2 etc
RGT I love you for making this video!
This was a great review. Very excited for this
Thanks RGT85 for showing Castlevania some love! Now only if Konami can make a new Castlevania game is a different story.
Right? Man.. I'll be ok if they simply kept making 2D Castlevania w sprite. Keep the budget low and game quality high.
Circle of the Moon was my introduction to Castlevania so as a result its my favorite in the collection. Favorite does not mean best. That distinction falls to Aria of Sorrow.
COTM is my favorite as well. I actually think it’s better than Aria of Sorrow… I think COTM’s game mechanics, music and graphics are just superior to AOS… and COTM has better replay value with the different modes you can play in and I think it’s more challenging. However I do like Aria of Sorrow a lot. Now Harmony of Dissonance I really don’t like… the Graphics, Music and game mechanics I think are terrible… I just couldn’t get into HOD. I am going to give it another chance though and start playing it again.
One thing I like about circle of the moon is how different it feels compared to the other igavanias.
So stoked for this!
My order from favourite to least favourite is...Aria of Sorrow, Circle of the moon, Dracula X and Harmon of Dissonance. If I remember correctly, I paid about 17 bucks for this collection, and it was money well spent. Konami just needs to release a collection with the DS titles now because I never really got the chance to get into those ones, and now would be a good time to do that
Aria of Sorrow is awesome! Such great memories!
Are these digital downloads, physical carts, or only available with an online membership?
@RGT 85 Are there any screen filter options in the screen settings options or something like that?
Love the content! LATER
Man between this, Diablo 2 RM, Mario Party Superstars, and Metroid Dread this October is gonna be AWESOME!!!!!
Maybe one day we'll get a Castlevania DS and PS2 collection as well
Yes!
Including the 64 games too!!!
@@aundrea13ac wasn't there only 1 64 game? And legacy of darkness was an enhanced remake of it?
@@edsheeran1243 It was two of them the first one titled castlevania 64 then legacy of darkness
@@edsheeran1243 I could be wrong on that but there was definitely two I know that for sure
I never had the GBA games in the series. I will be picking this up for the Switch. Maybe I’ll even do a stream. Definitely want to play some Castlevania soon.
Man I still remember when I first got Circle of the Moon for my new 1st gen GBA. Played it so much until I got everything. Shame I never got any of the other Castlevania games for the system but now I can :).
I really enjoyed Circle of the Moon, It feels like classic castlevania combo with Metroidvania map.
Harmony was too easy coming off Circle which is pretty tough. I also think map design is weird in Harmony. Hope we get the DS games collection soon
Yeah. The castle in HoD thematically made very little sense and didn't seem to have a lot of effort put into making the different areas stand out with any memorable set pieces. So navigating it was always confusing because there didn't seem to be much logical reason for what areas were where in the castle.
Harmony of Dissonance is 50 years prior to Symphony of the Night, so that's why you feel SOTN vibes from it.
Can anyone who’s bought this explain to me how to use the rewind feature? I see the option to save a “replay” which lets me fast forward and rewind through what’s basically a video of my gameplay…but I can’t find a way to rewind a few seconds and continue playing
Does anyone know if the switch version has the achievements (via in-game menu)?
Wish they'd make a really good open world Castlevania rpg like The Witcher 3 but with the Castlevania world. I realize that's not how it's been in the past but just imagine if it was done right 😍
I have 2 issues with your review here. First: Is Castlevania GBA Collection worth your $20? Is that supposed to be a trick question?? Freakin' right it is! I played all three and still own the GBA originals and.....yes just buy them. $20 is a steel and I'm surprised it's so cheap.
Second: I really don't understand your review of COTM. I had no problem with the jumping, dashing, combat, sliding, card system. Anything. I played through it twice and it remains one of my favorite Castlevania games. Of course Harmony and Aria are going to be a step up. They released later (in sequence) so the developers learned and improved on the 2 later games. Anyway, as always, great video!
I wouldn’t mind getting this on ps4 because I have the requiem of blood collection which has the real rondo of blood and sotn and it’s exclusive to ps4. I wouldn’t mind getting advance collection on ps4 as well.
Having only played Rondo of blood on PC engine with English patch…. I played symphony of the night yesterday. My life has changed.
Nice review man as always and thanks for sharing!
I have some stuff to short out about this collection.Starting off with the price tag i believe that 20 euros or dollars is a good bargain since they giving us 4 games instead only 3 which is nice, even though the dracula x aka vampires kiss was an snes making me think, what?! Did they released a gba version of this game as well like they did with super ghouls & ghosts etc & stuff??? But as i remember they didn't if of course i remember correctly in general. It was really nice to include this one since in their previous anniversary collection they also included super castlevania 4 as well and it is very welcoming in this 20 dollars pack.Although i have the original cartriges of the GBA it is much easier to play those in a big screen if you don't have a dsi XL or a ds because nintendo removed the port for the GBA games in the nintendo dsi for the purpose to resale those in their online store etc.
Secondly this collection is i believe much nicer compilation from anniversary as a whole, because they included all the games from GBA gallery instead putting randomly some games here and there. For instance although i love kid dracula as a agame i didn't wanted it that much in this castlevania collection. They could do allot better by choosing the rebirth game in that accompanied with the chronicles for instance instead putting inside simons quest or the adventure if they wanted to choose much better games or the MSX version inside for the fun fact!
Overall i would love to see some more collections like those to be released by filling the gaps wit those last games i mentioned! ;)
A lot of people dunk on Harmony for using 8bit sound channels but the actual compositions are complex and haunting, creating a sense of dread that's not often seen in the series.
Another thing people don't give Harmony credit for is its stunning environmental spritework; there are many rooms with unique tile sets, which can help make navigating the labyrinthine castle a little easier
The biggest problem with the game was the character and Castle design seemed kind of lazy and disjointed. Also the challenge level and creativity with the boss battles was shallow too.
Dawn of Sorrow... good job but I disagree with you on Circle of the Moon, that game was really underrated and actually holds up quite well. I felt sorta like you originally back when I first bought it on GBA but after beating it on this collection it definitely was a lot better than previously thought imho.
whats your favorite bullet soul, guardian soul, and Enchanted soul from aria of sorrow?
I love that unedited videos...
“Sorrow,” it’s Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and it is an incredible game.
They need to bring the ds games too
Agreed
Great review..love this channel..and I'm 36 years old, im no stranger to CV games. I love em all but my personal (nes) favorite is Cv3 Draculas curse. Been waiting for this collection cause I Flippin love the GB Cv games. Just a matter of time until we get the rest of em on another collection..probly Ina year. Then I'll have all the games..cause I got most physical copies and the ones I don't I got on the ps4 collections..including SotN and Rondo.
What is the name of the theme playing in the background?
Did you seriously refer to Dawn of Sorrow as "Dawn of Souls"?
That's funny because Dawn of Souls is the name of a Castlevania fan fiction I'm writing.

@RGT ... brother.... You're killing me... Hurt my heart man... Circle of The Moon is my favorite. It's the first I had and... The story I loved. It gets much much better if you push through and when you get the "run boots". Love your channel, but that hurt man... I will still watch your channel though. No hate.
I know I love circle of the moon.
@@neon-idol2538 I've always felt circle was the "hidden gem" of the 3 gba Castlevanias. It take a bit of time to get into the the beginning but once you're in... You're in.
I think he said Harmony of Dissonance was his favorite from this grouping? HoD is like my lowest one on the list, but Aria and Circle are the top top ones. Shame Circle isn't cannon... Definitely playing Circle right now and being like "yea... This is my favorite one of the 3 here..."

#1
Woah there, this video almost makes me want to unsubscribe, man. Circle of the Moon not only has the #1 top best of all time Castlevania soundtrack, but it's also one of the best GBA games, period. I like that the player character is smaller so there's more room to move around on the screen (you can see more of the room around you compared to your size and range of attack). It starts off feeling slow because you can't run, then you get the boots that allow for running and then you get jumping upgrades, and it just feels like such a cool progression. Eventually you can just fly up in the air and you feel so powerful. The music, the graphics, everything is just right. I later got the double pack of Harmony and Aria, and I definitely prefer Aria because it feels more like Circle of the Moon and the graphics look more similar. Harmony looks outdated by comparison. (And by the way, didn't you know that Nathan can twirl his whip in a circle to get those smaller worm enemies?)
People just want reactive controls from the getgo nowadays. Clunky movement in platformers now is considered antiquated.
ive never played a castle vania game so im not sure if i should get this. do i need to know the storyline ?
Love this advance collection! We really need a Megaman battle network games!
I will defend CotM till i die
Dawn of Sorrow was my first Castlevania: Incredible game! Looking forward to playing the gba precursor.
Dawn of Souls lol
