That thing you side about the towns is spot on. My white ex-coworker told me to stay away from Northside and Westside. So I initially moved to Southside. It was nice there, but now I live in a neighborhood on Northside that's waaay better!
I have a girlfriend that’s going to rent me out her place possibly in the next year or so so I’m definitely digging your videos because my kids and I need a new scenery and California is just not it for us no more it honestly really wasn’t for a long time but my mom and dad are out here so I enjoyed the time I’ve had. It’s just time for mom to go where she could afford and still enjoy all of these enjoyable activities and attractions. Thank you for your share😊
I love Jacksonville, Florida❤ I have lived here for 5 years and Jacksonville keeps getting better and better. After living in multiple areas in Jax I have figured it out. Like most large cities there are good areas and bad areas. Jax is a huge massive city land wise. I would say 40% of Jax is low income high, crime, and neglected "Bad" areas. These are near downtown on the Westside, Downtown on the eastside north of stadium, alot of east arlington, near St Nicholas... These areas are lower income or economically disadvantaged. Generally speaking the majority of the entire west side of jacksonville is lower income or lower middle class. Where is the best places to live then? If your family is making near or over 6 figures you would enjoy buying in a middle to upper middle class area you should consider Bartram, Communities in St Johns County, Mandarin, The Beaches Jax Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, Ponte vedra Beach, Generally anything East of 295 beltway toward the beach.
Percentage of 40% of Jax being "bad" areas is a little high. I'd say 15-20%. So many nice places have been left out like Riverside, Avondale, Ortega, Orange Park, Julington Creek, Argyle Forest, Fleming Island, etc. etc. etc. and "parts of" many many other neighborhoods like Murray Hill and Springfield.
Living in a river town is a slice of heaven in the South. Every city has its problems. There are nooks and crannies in this town that that resemble a kind of magic. Places on the beach where you can run your fingers through the sand at night and see sparks... I have seen people dancing in the street five hundred deep... and I've seen a riot or 2 of similar size... I have lived in Jacksonville 40 years and I can't imagine anywhere else I'd rather be. My name is Bill And I play guitar for tips in front of the walmart grocery over here in arlington... Let me holler at a dollar And I'll play you a song.
Beyond the nooks and crannies, there are the alcoves.. the allllcoves. Am I saying that right? Jax is like a fookin' fairy tale. Wonderful Aahhchitecture too.
i grew up in Jax and moves when i was 13 im now 30 and my plan is to move back after my parents are gone seeing as cost of living is cheaper than New York. i also miss being 20 mins from the Beach!
I stay in port st Lucie FL and its a decent place, definitely growing for sure but growing in thr sense of just housing and not in the sense of entertainment and things to do. The area is still held back by retirement, meaning it has a big retirement population and thats a problem because theres a growing younger population but limited by things to do. Theres more dive bars, restaurants and shopping plazas than actually entertainment. When i say entertainment i mean like actual places to want to go to that doesn't constantly feel like you want to leave. That oldness, boring atmosphere has surrounded the treasure coast for wayyyy too long. Thats why im looking elsewhere, i need things to do, not Just go to your local dive bar every weekend because that's the only place that's open late. I'm not a huge clubber but i like that vibe it brings rhe surrounding area, feels more ritzy, makes you want to dress up.
It’s funny I’ve never been to St. Lucie but I know we have been growing fast and things to do in Jax have been growing with it! Is Jacksonville on you list?

My rent on the west side is half compared to the East or south. Doesn’t have decent restaurants but does have a Walmart and close freeway entrance. Worth it.
Try talking about the corruption in the city government and the JSO,!Depending on which Poll you choose between 48% and 54% of the residents do not believe that the officers are honest. The new sheriff is trying to their image. Unfortunately a large number of incidents occurred while he was on the force.
People in NYC have a hard time understanding why people don't always want to live in a city that offers good mass transit. They forgot their MTA completely sucks and many have never owned a car let along thought beyond government dependence. Give me a place where I can drive all over without mass transit and I would call that my happy place. Let those people who demand mass transit live in NYC.
My friend wants to move with her family and kids . Rolling hills is good place? She between Jacksonville and Orlando? She asked me because I went to Florida 2 times and think I know everything 😂. I have family in north ft.myers but that's far from Jacksonville 😂

Salaries and wages are not commensurate with the cost of living. The cultural climate is dull and there is not much offered except for restaurants and strip malls. The infrastructure requires you to have a car to go anywhere because the consolidation of surrounding municipalities in the late 60's turned Cowford, which is now downtown Jax, into one big urban sprawl. The downtown is a joke and the Baptist church has too much influence which retards the city from progressing and growing to its full potential.
It's um different. It's being cleaned up so it's a lot better than it used to be. Location wise you're right off the main interstate I-95 so you can get to any side of town in no time.
