- There's nothing better than securing a victory with a maximum break. Barry Hawkins did just that against Neil Robertson at Hungary’s first-ever professional invitational snooker tournament on January 4, 2025.
That double on the last red was epic. Congratulations, Barry, what a fantastic Maxi.
The last couple of days, I've watched 3 matches from this venue...and the crowd are the best I've seen in almost 50 years of following snooker! They are so appreciative of the players, and are SO well behaved! They are a credit to their people, and crowds in other venues would do well to follow their example! Also, it's so lovely to see Barry get a max, as he's one of the nicest guys in the game! Well done to him!
Shouldn't be clapping after every shot though!
I guess the snooker in Budapest is a bit crap, that every shot is a clapper! lol Maybe that though has made these players get 147's!?!?!?
Agreed
Much healthier- barely a cough.
@@robertradford6351 It is rather tedious after a while, also seems contrived.
And, the award for the happiest audience in the history of snooker goes to.....
One of the best 147's I've seen, lots of tough shots.
That was a beautiful 147. He had many difficult shots but handled them well. Congrats Barry...well done
Great sportsmen and gentlemen. Fantastic crowd. A pleasure to watch. Well done Barry.
The shot from black to yellow was one of the sweetest shots I’ve ever seen, absolutely superb maximum
And the third last red, he's a top player
Yes you are right fantastic placing
Two very likable players, two of my favorites. Glad to see “The Hawk” get a 147.
Robertson? Likable? Surely u cannot be serious.
@ I AM serious. And please don’t call me Shirley.
@goofe.washington953 I'll level with u - I dislike Robertson and was in a mood for an argument why, but your reply simply made my day! I thank you from the bottom of my heart and wish u a very pleasant day. Finding a person who gets Airplane! references nowadays is like finding a four-leaf clover 🍀- very rare and joyous occasion, makes me very happy and I am definitely sending some of that happiness ur way! Cheers and be safe.
@@goofe.washington953 I agree with you. John McEnroe is dead wrong on this one.
@@jesseboy7951 What a wonderful response from you, one which I appreciate very much. And, I speak jive! Thanks again, and take care.
Fantastic maximum break especially with the red so close to the pink and that amazing double.
Brilliant from Barry. One of the most beautiful 147s.
This venue deserve a ranking event .
Black to Yellow was a peach, well done Bazza👍
Asking Neil for advice after he had clinched was the best.
Thats up there with one of the best 147's i've seen, some epic shots in there
That was fun to watch. Well done from Phoenix AZ. Thank you for the effort.
He had to earn it. Not a "simple" 147!
Yes, and isn't it great to see Barry playing so well
Positionally not the cleanest, but that made it more exciting. I think he had a much smoother 147 a few years ago, when for half of the reds he potted the cue ball only seemed to move a foot or two - very elegant. (2019 UK Championship, if you want to watch it…)
Such a great 147. That double was a killer 🔥
Audience keep clapping going my head in
Wish the crowd would be quiet like it’s supposed to be.
2nd best 147 ive ever seen! congrats barry.
What the hell are the players sitting on, lawn furniture? Great break, Hawk, you're awesome.
They started as marshmallows. The players had to eat them into shape before the games.
The first black and the last red though 😮
If some people think that the 2 maximum was made because of the pockets of the table, they are not close to the truth.
However in the previous invitational events there was a slightly "pottable" table which is normally used in lots of showcase matches.
But in this tournament format an official match table has been used. The same pocket size like on the professional tour.
Just to highlight it: This match was the second in this event and this break was only the first century as well, however the four invited professional players had played 11 frames before this maximum. So it is more of a fantastic affort from Barry and Neil next day.
I was there, and to see my favourite player live once in a lifetime maybe, and producing a maximum, it is still hard to believe. These are that rare, even though I have been watching this sport for 20 years and I am not sure if I have already catched any maxi live, even on TV...
Thank you for the organizer Team: Balázs Csurgó, Gábor Buzás and Gábor Wéber for this event!
Bollocks. Watch robertson’s red down the cushion with the rest. He missed it by miles it should never have gone in.
@@hicksyfern The orgainzer team said that.
@@kolatila people say a lot of things. I’ve never seen a ball go in hitting the cushion 6 inches away from the pocket in … 35 years of watching snooker.
@@hicksyfern I understand you, what I can say it was not an easy table either as I was there.
Awesome 147. Yeah!
Congratulation to Barry, brilliantly done!
Brilliant from Barry many difficult blacks and a last red double!. Doesnt get any better than that amazing😂
2nd black good rescue for his 147
Perfection cueing. Well done Barry.
Class encouragement by Neil too. 🫡

One of the best i ever seen
So many snooker experts in the comment section who i believe can hardly make a break of 10
There is or was a top golf coach who worked with many great players and never played the game,he knew the mechanics and what makes it all work,so i’d hang fire with that comment.
@Philshki82 Doesn't work that way with snooker though. You can't justify your argument by bringing in a golf expert in a game of Snooker dude. Or do u even play snooker??
it is Raining 147s there -- are these gaff pockets?
Exactly what I was thinking...that’s the fourth or fifth in just a few days.
I thought I was clicking on the Neil Roberson 147 video from yesterday at same tournament!
I don't think so, it was a kind of half gala/half competition event, I think the players took it not so seriously and played more relaxed and boldly
Indeed. Giving the fledgling Hungarian audience just a bit too much too soon, I think.
Robertson's final red hit the cushion several inches before reaching the pocket from a reasonably acute angle. It should never have gone in.
Barry got a max. break shortly after Neil got one in the same tournament!
A weird start, after that a beautiful break
Magnificent
Black to yellow was sublime
This is the first 147 I've seen that included a double across the table.
Mark Allen did one recently that was a plant double. Mark Selby also did a maxy that had a treble in it. One of the best recovery 147 shots I’ve ever seen
Credtis goes to audiance's appreciations
Bravo!
Brilliant 👏
Awesome way to win
Four reds left and I can't see it. Insane, Barrys nickname should be "the executioner"
So many 147’s lately. The game is advancing
I think it's just the ever unpredictable nature of the game, with its ups and downs. We were bound to experience an abundance of maximums within a short time. But you may very well be right.
@ makes it much more entertaining.
I like snooker
NICE!
I didn’t have time to watch it all the way to the end.
Did they clap after the last black?
That double was a bit of cool! but not as smoothly done as Neil's imo but always good to see maximum break. At a few angles I do agree with some saying about pockets, to me looking a bit wider than traditional UK matches perhaps.
A happy healthy prosperous New Year to you all in Jesus Christ's mighty precious name amen 🙏❤️ Thank you to you all for all your enjoyable Snooker games entertainments ❤️ Very much appreciated 👍✅ fantastic and well done to you all 💕
not an easy 147 but Barry NAILED IT
Easily one of the best
If that wasn't a cheeky double!
How many 147s this year …?
Wow he potted 36 balls in a row anyone would think he practises 6 hours a day or something and it isn't is full time job
I'd love to know what words were exchanged around the 9:30 mark
I think Roberston was encouraging him - 'yeah, you can do it' with reference to dislodging that red.
Nice way to win a match.
Great 147, but he should never have gone for the second black with a fairly easy safety to be had on the yellow.
Either the balls are smaller than normal or the pockets are wider than normal or both! These 147s are falling out of the sky at the moment.
This is an official match table, with the same parameters as used on the World Tour.
But yes, the balls are old table tennis balls, you are right!
Hawkeye Hawkins.
Audience is clapping for every pot. That is nice.
This started once he got into the higher numbers at least, every pot would be a bit much lol.
Would The commentators say ‘a very knowledgable crowd’
😂
These tables are far too easy to score on, and they have been like this for about 10yrs.
Why are they clapping sooo much, its annoying
So simple.
Whataplayaaaa
147 has become more common since Riyadh Season 167 break.
I think because they’ve made that more difficult, so it’s made a 147 mentally easier because it’s no longer the highest available break achievement maybe
147's seem to be as common as a trump win
Slightly clap happy audience lol
What izzzzzzzzzz this bs
Красень!🤘
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏
Too many going in these days, they are obviously playing with buckets for pockets compared to a few years back
