According to the B.C. government..."interpretive forest site" means a site and ancillary facilities developed by the minister to interpret, demonstrate or facilitate the discussion of forest resources or their management; "recreation site" means a site and ancillary facilities developed by the minister for recreation or to protect a recreation resource

Porteau Cove hosts probably one of the best dark sky locations within arm's reach of Vancouver, stopping by on your way back to stargaze promises incredible views of the Milky Way. My wife and I love that place, we did our engagement shoot there.

I haven't gone up this road in a few years...good reminder to perhaps do that this summer. And for anyone who hasn't done this drive before, definitely stop in the village of Horseshoe Bay that was shown at the beginning. Really scenic little area and there's great fish and chips.

This is my favorite hwy. In the early 80"s I would do Vancouver to Squamish on my 1971 Yamaha xs 650 motorcycle. It is by far the most awesome stretch of road. That was back before the new hwy. Lots of great memories here!

Sewell's Marina in Horseshoe Bay is also a cool spot where you can rent a boat for the day, and go explore all the little islands, as well as check out the seals on Pam rocks! If you haven't done it, I'd definitely recommend it for a future video.

Really enjoyed this video as it is one of the few BC highways that I haven't been on. Point of interest on the Sea 2 Sky highway. Back in the seventies we made friends with a man who had previously owned the property known as Brandywine Falls Provincial Park on the road to Whistler. He and his family had run it as a campground but got tired of the 24 hour workdays and sold the property to the province for $1 on the understanding it would be open to the public. The province held true to their promise and it is now a provincial park. The man, who's name was Ray Gallager, and who actually named his daughter Brandy after the Falls, moved to the Crofton area on Vancouver Island where he had a beautiful farm with an Arbutus tree forest on the Georgia Straight and fields for pigs, sheep, geese, and bees and an immense garden surrounded by blackberry bushes. True to form, Ray got tired of the work involved and made arrangements with the government one more time to convert it to a park. But this time he had a special request. He asked if he could keep a small piece of the property and move the big beautiful house onto it. They agreed. Today, Osbourne Bay Park is there for everyone's use and as you enter the park if you look left, you can see the beautiful old house peeking through the trees. Fond memories.

The way you sell British Columbia is amazing ! I felt in love with that province years ago thanks to CTV New at 6 (you think it's depressive ? You don't know french news) Pamela Martin and Bill Good were on, a couple in its 50s with two kids (Tamara Taggart and Perry Solkowski). They used to smile and laugh, had funny stories and the forecast girl was halftime outside in public and Perry was always looking for new talents. That was quiet a change from what I used to see.
Today, well, with your dynamism and good mood, you are slowly taking over.

Hey, Mike. Great to see you having a great time on your bike and sharing this amazing trip with us. Makes up for not being able to travel far this weekend. Yes, taking the time to check out the sights and enjoy a snack along the way is truly the way to relax and enjoy the beautiful day you had on this occasion. It was great to see the current status of all the viewpoints you showed and I particularly enjoyed your sequence of walking through the forest to the waterfall.
Back when you were just a mischievous little tacker and I was on my first visit to Canada, my good friend Kevin took me on a railfanning trip along the old Highway 99 to Pemberton and the back road as far as Birken. Porteau Cove was THE spot to photograph the Royal Hudson 2860 beside Howe Sound on its afternoon return to North Vancouver (Britannia Beach was also a great spot). At the time I was still an active motorcyclist at home (Honda 750/4 - 1977 model) and commented to Kevin that I could really see myself fanging around the corners on this road.
I had to chuckle when you showed us the highway patrol having a friendly chat to some poor sap he pulled over.
Oh, by the way, I did get to go on a day return excursion from North Vancouver to Squamish behind the Royal Hudson on that visit. It's a shame that it's no longer active, but at least, it's preserved at the Rail Museum in Squamish. Also, on my second visit in 1995, I arranged to travel all the way on BC Rail to Prince George on the Cariboo Dayliner Rail Diesel Car train.
Hope I haven't made you too jealous. Thanks again for a great video and I'm sure all your other Melbourne followers are enjoying this one too. Looking forward to your feedback to this comment and next week's video. Stay safe and well. Cheers from Michael.

Another great video Mike! I am impressed you didn’t scream when you dove into the water! I know how cold it is. My friends and I used to ride up to Brohm lake to go swimming in the 70’s when it wasn’t very well known. I almost got killed twice on the highway, one time the guy who just missed me lost control and went over the cliff. That was the scariest.

I remember in 2018 ago I went on a family holiday to Canada where we were meant to fly out to Castlegar (apologies for spelling) in the mountains, but that got cancelled as there were 500 wildfires burning so we ended up "stranded" in Vancouver before heading over tk Vancouver island. A couple of my brothers and I went to Shannon falls and did the sea to summit hike up to the gondola station before getting the gondola back down again and the climb offered some of the most incredible scenery I've ever seen, despite the smoke that was still in the air

SATISFY your curiosity! And note that with all the water up that way, it's a matter of which is the least icy, not most warm. Recommended: Browning Lake, a sliver of deep water not far past Britannia Beach. It develops a top layer of reasonably swimmable water, but turns cold about 5 or 6 feet down!

Nice to see you out and about without a mask. For the most part anyway. Back in 2004 I was on the return leg of a solo motorcycles trip from Worcester, Ma to Alaska. I came down the height of BC on Rte37 to Kitwanga then 16 to Prince George, where I stayed one night . After that, I went south on 97 and almost came down 99 to Vancouver, but I has plans to stay in Cache Creek, which is just south of the intersection of 99 and 97. It looks like I should have come down 99. I crossed into the states south of Abbottsford, at Sumas, WA. It was an awesome trip, and have wanted to go back ever since.

I’ve never driven the Sea to Sky hi-way but it looks beautiful. That water fall is my favorite part.

It is like driving thru a fjord in Norway, and has been used as a backdrop in several movies.

Love this vid! My favourite place to stop off on the sea to sky is Alice lake just out of Squamish. Makes for fun paddle boarding! ☺️ can’t wait to drive it again and check out some of these spots you explored! Looks super fun!

I'm a Canadian RN who left Canada 26 years ago to pursue my career in emergency nursing in the USA. Your videos are so awesome I've decided to move to BC and enjoy the mountains in my home country. Whilst living here in Arizona I've become an avid mountain climber so I think Squamish might just be the perfect destination for me. I may do a travel nursing assignment there, but who knows, I might never leave!
