Personally, it's exactly what I've been looking for. I don't care if it's not original. If thousands of people still played cod4-blops2 and the servers were updated I'd totally only be playing those games. This feels like modern old school arcade shooters and I love that!

Personally I think X defiant is fun it reminds me of the old cod days and no over the top SBMM in casual multiplayer.
I feel the exact same, it felt like I was returning to COD4 and playing that simple, fun arcade style of game. No goofy mechanics or tactical integration to make it feel more intense, just flat gunplay and good times

Beside clunky animations and dated game mechanics, this is literally nothing like cod 4.
personally. not everygame needs to push the boundries forward. or innovate. i just think that devs found a sweet spot of old school style mix fps with hero shooter for the market and they are capitalazing in that. which i dont think there is many of it. imo. i liked it . server issues fcked me but i like where is this game going.

Couldn't agree more, this games scratching an itch that I really haven't felt since bo4. I hope to see an active community grow around it, this game can have a great future. It took me a few games to get my controller settings down but once I got it right boy does it feel good.

Idk if I can get behind this take tbh, the movement is fantastic and seeing the gameplay in the background it's going to feel dated if you're playing it like every other arcade shooter. Stop clear corner, go and continue stopping to clear every corner. It's the mobility that hooks most people in, a movement system that flows, high mobility and low TTK.
Whilst you can play it in anyway you want, if you're treating the playstyle like every other modern arcade shooter, you're gonna feel the same way about it.
Not once in the gameplay did I see him rush in, instead staying static and peeking corners. I mean the first 60 seconds of the gameplay he stands on the same stairs peeking the same angle.

It feels like old COD to me and it feels great. I was honestly surprised at how solid the game is. It has some issues but I actually was really enjoying myself. There’s not much in the FPS genre right now so the bar isn’t necessarily high right now tho 😂

The fact that XDefiant has made such a big turnaround after the abysmal announcement shows how much potential the game has. Having such a transparent dev team who are willing to take player feedback and criticism is 100% key if they want to make a good game like this. I'm really hoping these beta tests help shappe the game into something good. I'm definitely more interested in what the game has become than I was in what it was originally supposed to be.

The problem with COD and why old COD vets like Xdefiant is the movement, the lack of content, the awful spawns, SBMM, Horrible map balancing, annoying weapon progression (why does it force the player to play a weapon they don't even intend on using), barely any support for the non- Warzone players, overpriced microtransactions (somehow even being much more expensive than ubisoft), and now Pay to Win operators.
The Hook is the old school arcade feel of the game. That's what is bringing in so many players.
This game is pretty much exactly what I’ve been wanting ever since BR’s became all the rage and I’ve never liked them. The oldschool gameplay and modes is what I’ve been asking for since around 2019 without changes to the cod formula, such as mini map and sbmm. I’ll be playing this along with many of my friends. Boomers rejoice
I don't know how people are having so much fun in BR. It's full of campers, easy to die, it takes very long for matchmaking to start the match. In terms of bigger modes I think Battlefield's conquest is still the perfect one, beats BR by miles. CoD's classic modes were great in their own way too but it seems like Activision is taking a piss on og fans.

Speaking of Shatterline, you should come back to it again soon Bigfry! You were the person who got me interested in it from day one and I've been playing it ever since! They're experimenting with changes right now so it is kind of rough currently, but the revamped expedition mode is better then ever!

I think this game is amazing, my only major gripe is that they rolled this beta out knowing the build had terrible net code, some matches it’s fine, but some it’s so bad I can’t do anything

You know the state of the FPS genre is bad when all a games has to do to get people buzzing is say “no sbmm in casual”
No SBMM, 14 maps, free to play. Big props to Ubisoft and their developers. I 'm having a blast on P.C . XDefiant has the potential to shine where others have failed.
all those good things about the game but you leave out the terrible gunplay, janky movement and insane abilities. this game gonna die off quickly once shit starts getting added.
I like it, it really feels like old school COD. No damn SBMM thank goodness. The aiming feels weird to me it feels tight if that makes any sense perhaps I have to change my sensitivity but idk. I think you described a bit of the movement best as clunky. If they can fix that up. I would 100% play this over COD.

The difference between this, Shatterline, and Ironsight is this is actually going to be playable for everyone. Almost everyone who plays COD are on consoles. Which this game unlike the others is going to be on consoles day 1. Like it or not, this game is actually being made for everyone.
Personally I’m a big fan, outside of the dsync/server issues that will make or break the game. I enjoy the simplicity because even though it doesn’t do anything super unique or special, it feels like an enjoyable classic arcade while still feeling different. I’m tired of all these studios not listening to us at all, this is finally a step in the right direction.

Absolutely agree. Games like Ironsight and Shatterline have already captured that old school Call of Duty feel, and they do it well. Yes XDefiant may have "better" movement and slower time to kills but for example, Dirty Bomb is way better in basically every way.
I think the difference is that XDefiance has a bigger bufget and can deliver better graphical fifelity, optimization and presentation
Xdefiant still kind has advantage since they aren't stuck to PC only and most PC players will find something a little better on PC instead of the run of the mill Battle Royal game
This games might all be better but the thing with Xdfient is they have promised to launch day one on console and pc. Not just on one platform and I think that will set apart games like the finals and Xdfient from ironsight and shatterline. cross progression and cross play with all your friends regardless of platform plays a big role

Im a little reserved on the gadgets stuff but that aside this look exactly if not very close to what a lot of people in my friend groups has been missing. Simpler, run and gun, classic CoD feel. Got to say I kind of miss the "by industry modern standard" jankier slidey look and feel of older CoD games. I think the new ModernWarfares are a great showcase of great graphics, animations, and some design (particularly MW2019 only played MW2 beta) but there is something missing. Maybe its that the larger community is so cracked out on being so competitive that turns me away from it. XDefiant looks like simple fun

Like most people said its not trying to innovate. Its going for that classic cod feel with modern elements to it. Its straight up fun and well rounded imo. I know that this channel leans more towards "Tactical hardcore shooters" But damn I'm not trying to sweat and having to give out coms 24/7 when I come home from work. I just wanna play something fun.

This reminds me of the 2008-2012 era where almost every fps/tps game to release then had some sort of competitive multiplayer attached. (examples: Far Cry 3, Bioshock 2) I just looks like that dime-a-dozen kind of game to me.
I think what will bring people in is that it’s free unlike 70 for COD. That’s a big deal.
I think its special because it doesnt try to change things that are well desogned for over the last 20 years. Im really sick of everything trying to redesign things just for the sake of innovation, but forgets about the fun. Thats the reason why im so in love with Out of action. Cause its simple and fun.

I just a want a good casual COD-like experience that I can play, especially with the homies and just have a good time. The game needs some work but the foundation is incredibly solid from the looks of it. Despite not liking Ubisoft, I genuinely hope the best for them on this one.

Yes. I mean I have fond memories of some. TF2 was cool and I wish Dirty Bomb had lived longer. But Overwatch/Paladins can be quite chaotic, imbalanced and toxic. And I still hate what Ubisoft for what they did with Rainbow Six. If I ever had to pick a line of games that really shouldn't have hero- or hero-esque features it's R6.
This hero trash imho is just another example of how everyone wants to be a special shining unicorn. It's no surprise those shooters often come with excessive MTX, possibly even outright P2W, battle passes, lootboxes, a trizillion silly cosmetics and so on. Shiny bling bling after shiny bling bling, instant gratification after instant gratification to cater to the narcisstic sides and short attention spans of todays gamers. Give them this nonsense or they instantly lose interest. It's like we aren't playing games for fun and good gameplay anymore but only to get bragging rights. Why does everything have to be a glorified fashion show? Why does everything need the most arbitrary progression systems and pretend to be a wannabe RPG? I don't need f*cking XP bars in all of my games.
Or maybe I'm just old and don't get it.

It's definitely looking a little better than a few years ago. But there's not much to it. It's a triple A game with a lot of double A quality. It feels like Gotham City Impostors, without the wacky cartoony side that made that game fun.

Unfortunately I was only able to play one match so far....and it took me 1 1/2 hours of 9% load freezes to finally play it followed by more freezes😢

I think your main criticism of the game is may be exactly what this game is trying to be and I think you’re fundamentally missing that. This game isn’t supposed to be revolutionary or even revolutionary. It’s supposed to feel like an old cod game
Honestly, i think it looks pretty good. Decent enough movement and good fast TTK. I don't like the hero shooter shit with abilities and i dont think it'll be a main game but i think it might be fun for a few hours.
I feel like this game does the hero shooter aspect fairly well though. It fells a lot more like picking a tactical utility than it does using abilities imo

the leveling system doesnt work rn and I kept getting shot way behind cover, like the other players are on Mars or something, idk the game has a lot to go before it replaces cod
My main problem with the game is the weapon feeling. im playing Online Shooters since many years, and ive never came across something this clunky, movement everything feels super fluid but when it comes to actual aming and shooting i have a feeling someones pushing my gun all the time to the side, even if im standing still.
I wasn't feeling it back in the first closed NDA beta test its was just generic and it seems like not much has changed. I pretty much agree with your video for once in a long while

finally, someone on mouse and keyboard actually talking about the game. it seems like people on controller dont have any issues with it, and i think its because they dont have "full control" so they dont feel how stiff it is.

I'll be honest, this game is exactly the type of game i've been waiting for. Might not be for everyone, just like COD. This game feels like a love letter to anyone who loved classic fps games. They've earned themselves a customer and I'll definitely be supporting this title.

Feeling dated isn't an issue, this game was going for old cod vibes and it achieved it, it gave people what they wanted, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Not every game needs to innovate and create a new genre, sometimes just giving us an old formula we like is good.

in the "open beta" the mouse has extreme lag and stuttering and also when you shoot snipers the second shot has a massive delay from when you click until you actually shoot. I have used 3 diffrent mice [Deathadder,model o and viper ultimate all the same i changed the polling rate and also dpi still the same issues and my friend has the same problem so also not my pc... awful
Game feels and looks amazing. Honestly the fun fast paced multiplayer game I’m looking for. I think the problem most devs have is trying to hard for “innovation”. No one is asking for innovation, we want an old school arcade shooter with decent movement. And THIS is it.

Servers issues in a Beta, not really something that is abnormal.
We have been eating certain food dishes for hundreds to thousands of years. Doesnt mean a good Beef stew is no longer good because it doesnt innovate.
The desync/hitreg issues have alledgely been fixed in a newer build
Movement and gunplay is brilliant. Maps are well-designed competitively and have a unique visual style for each of them. Abilities augment the team play and are not just "press Q to kill people". Sure it's not innovative. But it mixes wellknown elements in a new package. It's not overwatch, TF2, CoD, Valorant, Dirty Bomb, CS, Siege or anything else. It's a mix of those with CoD being the basis. There is nothing else like this to play. It's refreshing to play a cod style shooter with 30% higher ttk, without the constant killstreaks, and with a focus on objective. Thankfully the cod-community including the pros and content-creators are praising the core mechanics here. Because they understand the underlying movement and gunplay mechanics here.
It's got its issues, that's for sure. But this is the first time in a while I've actually had fun playing an fps.

Negative clickbait is a hilarious thing. Everything about the game is more fun than COD, netcode is already fixed for when the full game releases, that is all that matters. My freind has a theory that major game studios bad games on purpose cause they know that they will sell. Then when the player count starts to drop or is about to drop they actually try and make the game good.
Currently like it the game modes (other then domination) feel good and fun, controller aim assist seems a bit much and obvious network issues like the lagging hitboxes other than that it aint too bad, i really want a one life mode thoo hope it gets one for ranked
you play the game like mw2. trying flying around the map in stead of burger walking
Its just has that classic cod feel for me. The fast pace movement is a game changer for me personally and the simplicity of the game is all I’ve wanted for years at this point. I don’t have an issue with the game modes considering I’ve been playing hard point and domination for 2 decades at this point but it has that prime cod movement that hasn’t been with the franchise for years. You want to know what the hook to this game is. It’s proper map flow, map design, pacing and movement. I’ve played Ironside, I haven’t tried the other game you mentioned but I know that ironside definitely didn’t do it for me.
