I am Albanian and I am extremely proud that Albania is one of the few countries in the world where abortion is a woman's choice. The woman is completely free to choose whether to abort or not, without having to give further explanations. But, and here's a big but ... Lately religion (especially the Muslim religion) is progressing frightfully in Albania and at a very high pace. My fear is that future governments will surrender to the demands of the clergy. Idiots don't understand the downsides of an unwanted pregnancy. A woman has to go through so much pain to give birth and later on she has to spend her next few years looking after the baby. True. The lump of cells before 24 weeks doesn't have any consciousness to give consent. Human consciousness never existed in that featus before 24 weeks. After 24 weeks, bare minimum viable body is ready enough to host a bummer consciousness and thus can be referred as baby. Until then it is just a lump of cells. It doesn't have life of it's own. It is best to leave the right to the person who is bearing the weight, not us who is not bearing that weigh.

I worked with a catholic nurse, and I asked how she copes with working with women who have termination and she replied I don't work with the woman before hand as it goes against my beliefs but afterwards my job is to give this lady the best health care available to her from me and support her recovery, so that's a good moral choice I guess

My office colleague spent his childhood in orphanage even though his parents were alive and they actually visited him every week, he left his orphanage at age of 18 working as waiter and studying, when he was 28, having an intercaste marriage his parents refused to attend his wedding. Now after 11 years he has a great job and also takes care of his parents because his elder brother is no more talking with them, he went through alot in his life just because he was an "unwanted child". Women should be allowed to abort, else the world would be hell for both the child and the parent.
Maybe now he lives, he can get a chance to better the society, or at the very least not become like his parents. Its not the unborn's fault, its the fault of the undergrown adults. Your colleague's story is a proof that idiots who deem their own innocent flesh and blood unwanted should be deemed unwanted by society. Having a child is decided in the bedroom , not in the doctor’s office. The root of the problem is the increasing sexuality in the society. The reason for getting one matters a lot and it’s not just about choice or religion. Exception lies in cases of rape poor condition of the mother etc. The discussion shouldn’t even be about life or choice, it’s solely a matter of being responsible. A doctor who had lost her 3 or 5 year old daughter in an accident had to perform an abortion (he spoke in court) and if you watch it, you might just understand that you should make the choice before you decide to have unsafe sex. Believe it or not, it is a joint decision by both the man and woman. Legalise abortion, people begin to have unsafe sex,they get an abortion, everyone starts living consequence free, the society and relationships go to hell. There are so many points here that are incorrect but I will focus on just one. I believe a more accurate translation of the commandment is 'Thou shall not commit murder'. How many babies die each year globally? How much money is made from their body parts? I am saying this because these underprivileged women do not have access to android phones and internet connections. Indian society has worse problems to be corrected first like the malnutrition of already existing children .... most of the times it's a choice between the proper nutrition and opportunities for a already existing child (under 5 deaths are still common in india due to improper nutritionand care)and abortion ... its another mouth to feed for already poor family. Women like me or men like you will be the least affected from any change in law ... these are the families whose last chance for poverty free life can be stolen from them. We are not a western society where all problems and social stigmas have been resolved that they can debate on morality of abortion... we have bigger problems to solve when they are solved believe me I will be pro life... right now we have to choose for the lesser evil option .. it's about an unwed mother losing a chance for marriage and social acceptance or a family's chance at having one or two children who can be fed properly or having more children with malnutrition and higher risk of mortality. These are real problems and I am not willing to deny them to respect the sensitive minds of few privileged people who are anyways not really affected by whatever the law may be.

Over the years, as an OR nurse, I have tried to give extra support to those having an abortion as I knew the pressures they were under from the soul searching needed to take that step and the condemnation of family members and others was considerable. For those who think this act is murder, you really need to focus on trying to stop the stupidity of war. The Catholic Church is no saint that deserves followers on this issue or any other.

My question is if a couple, a woman wants abortion and people force her to give birth , how well do you think she is going to turn out into a good mother ? The chances are 50-50 . You need to be mentally prepared for accept motherhood, many even falls into depression after birth . Now she is falling into it even before giving birth , how is that acceptable ? Also what about health concern , what if it is a high risk pregnancy ? What if they do not have enough money to support a child ? Just how miserable will be a child ? People who think only love and protection is important to raise a baby have really not dealt with today's finance and how important it is to be able enough to support your child..And what if she was raped in the first place ?What is it is an abnormal fetus , who if born will live under pain! I have seen so many of my friends wishing not be born because their parents are not responsible enough or do not have proper condition to take care of them.
MY MOM MADE A CHOICE TO GIVE BIRTH TO ME AND MY MOM HAD ABORTED ONCE BEFORE ME . True story . And she did it because she suffered from high blood pressure that was enough to kill her as her body was not supporting the pregnancy . I believe you got the whole thing wrong. Social life and Economic life in US is not always positive. Abortion is a choice by a woman who take it painfully, unnecessary child birth may increase more orphans as they will be treated as unnecessary. Discipline is a good thing to talk about, but even a happy married couple ask for abortion due to economic reasons.

Idiots don't understand the downsides of an unwanted pregnancy. A woman has to go through so much pain to give birth and later on she has to spend her next few years looking after the baby. She has so many things to lose and if her family is financially unstable, they will keep on suffering for years until their child becomes independent. True. The lump of cells before 24 weeks doesn't have any consciousness to give consent. Human consciousness never existed in that featus before 24 weeks.
After 24 weeks, bare minimum viable body is ready enough to host a bummer consciousness and thus can be referred as baby. Until then it is just a lump of cells. It doesn't have life of it's own.

My office colleague spent his childhood in orphanage even though his parents were alive and they actually visited him every week, he left his orphanage at age of 18 working as waiter and studying, when he was 28, having an intercaste marriage his parents refused to attend his wedding. Now after 11 years he has a great job and also takes care of his parents because his elder brother is no more talking with them, he went through alot in his life just because he was an "unwanted child". Women should be allowed to abort, else the world would be hell for both the child and the parent.
Maybe now he lives, he can get a chance to better the society, or at the very least not become like his parents. Its not the unborn's fault, its the fault of the undergrown adults. Your colleague's story is a proof that idiots who deem their own innocent flesh and blood unwanted should be deemed unwanted by society. I'm not advocating harder treatment for them but saying that they should not become role models for others.

@@roshs5619 basically use wisdom when you have sex. just make sure that you dont conceive if your not ready to have baby,BUT if conception takes place..... then better go it, it is God's will for that child. It is God who has made that conception happen.

The root of the problem is the increasing sexuality in the society.
The reason for getting one matters a lot and it’s not just about choice or religion. Exception lies in cases of rape poor condition of the mother etc. The discussion shouldn’t even be about life or choice, it’s solely a matter of being responsible.
A doctor who had lost her 3 or 5 year old daughter in an accident had to perform an abortion (he spoke in court) and if you watch it, you might just understand that you should make the choice before you decide to have unsafe sex. Believe it or not, it is a joint decision by both the man and woman.
Legalise abortion, people begin to have unsafe sex,they get an abortion, everyone starts living consequence free, the society and relationships go to hell.

In case of rapes, the woman did not choose, and the man does not care. The child will certainly face trouble and be at the risk of being harmed or abandoned later.
There are so many points here that are incorrect but I will focus on just one. I believe a more accurate translation of the commandment is 'Thou shall not commit murder'. How many babies die each year globally? How much money is made from their body parts? There's a whole industry that profits from abortion, not just the clinics that do the operation people who buy and sell whole foetuses. The money from this is blood money and the victims are the most helpless and innocent.
Every day I hear new and more outlandish theories from people who want to ban abortion but this one probably takes the cake! Any trade of foetuses is/should be illegal and if there is a country where it takes place it should be banned immediately. It's the same as any other corrupt medical practice such as organ harvesting. Does organ harvesting exist mean we should ban organ donation???
The same can be said about wars. And yet, people in my church claim there is such a thing as 'justified wars'. I don't see an exception listed to the commandments.

it's fancy for privileged men women like you and me to talk about pro life and all but the poor society in India has bigger problems to deal with like survival. This could be their last option for survival. They are either ignorant or skeptical about the safety of contraceptives though the government provides them free of cost or they donot know how to use them properly. They have an uncertainty about the survival of their living children hence do not go for permanent methods unless previous children are above 5 yrs of age ... until then there are so many chances of unwanted unaffordable pregnancies. Not like they want to create life and kill them later.
Women donot abort a child for fun there are psychological sensibilities attached to this topic and I have seen people going through this being a doctor .... most of the religious fanatics are waiting to misuse your genuine sensibilities to oppress women. We already have enough problems for females(though I am privileged to not suffer from most but have seen my poor female patients suffer those... who come to a government hospital most lie about their age because mostly they are underage when we see their adharcard to confirm tears roll down my eyes.. thanks to child marriages .. most of them unfit to undergo pregnancy childbirth ... few unmarried females whose parents are ashamed and crying for the fate of their daughters.. most girls donot have a say whether they want the child or not .... most of us who have a better life and we do not know what goes on with the poor families unless we see them with our own eyes ... there a social aspect to this as well .... in this society abortion is the only option for most ...for them and their families to live a life of dignity) in India. I am saying this because these underprivileged women do not have access to android phones and internet connections. Indian society has worse problems to be corrected first like the malnutrition of already existing children .... most of the times it's a choice between the proper nutrition and opportunities for a already existing child (under 5 deaths are still common in india due to improper nutritionand care)and abortion ... its another mouth to feed for already poor family. Women like me or men like you will be the least affected from any change in law ... these are the families whose last chance for poverty free life can be stolen from them. We are not a western society where all problems and social stigmas have been resolved that they can debate on morality of abortion... we have bigger problems to solve when they are solved believe me I will be pro life... right now we have to choose for the lesser evil option .. it's about an unwed mother losing a chance for marriage and social acceptance or a family's chance at having one or two children who can be fed properly or having more children with malnutrition and higher risk of mortality. These are real problems and I am not willing to deny them to respect the sensitive minds of few privileged people who are anyways not really affected by whatever the law may be.

Over the years, as an OR nurse, I have tried to give extra support to those having an abortion as I knew the pressures they were under from the soul searching needed to take that step and the condemnation of family members and others was considerable. For those who think this act is murder, you really need to focus on trying to stop the stupidity of war. The Catholic Church is no saint that deserves followers on this issue or any other.

I’m not religious. I believe in morals. What’s morally right and what’s morally wrong. I understand why people want abortions. I get it. Having an unplanned baby is inconvenient. We live in a society we’re people don’t want to be held accountable for their actions. It’s the easy way out. I truly believe abortion is morally wrong. If someone does not want a baby then they need to be smarter with how they do their bedroom fun. I understand that people can still get pregnant when using contraceptives, but that’s a risk of having bedroom fun. I believe if you are not in a position to have kids or want kids, then you shouldn’t have bedroom fun. drinking while driving is a risky behavior and if you get caught, you suffer the consequences. Having sex can be a risky behavior, and if you get pregnant then the father and mother are responsible for that life. I don’t expect to get people to agree with me, but I just want to offer a different perspective.
